Best Philly in the Twin Cities. Doesn't have cheese whiz, but that's not my jam anyways. I know it is for some folks which is why I mention it.

Place is pretty good. I get food here often. It's got this weird thing tho where the photos of their pizza look amazing but the actual pizza looks like a poor mans version. Not bad. But not amazing either.

My family frequently orders here as well as my coworkers and myself on many occasions. They normally have very good food and an attention to maintaining this. Lately it seems things have changed the last four times I have ordered my order is not correct in some way. Today was the worst considering I was missing an item that my husband went back for. It was cheesy garlic bread and they then rushed it to the point the cheese wasn't melted. Also I ordered a double meat hoagie that clearly was not double meat it was ordered hot and then served to us cold. This used to be one of our favorites but since it has taken such a drastic turn in service it saddens me to say we will not be wasting anymore of our money here.

It's been a minute. I worked at United Hospital 1995-2003 and we used to order Hot City on the reg. The subs/hoagies were magnificent. I don't remember the pizza very well and I also don't remember what I used to order here. So, I moved back to St. Paul a few weeks ago and started trying the places I used to go to, tickled because the area is almost exactly the same, it's so comforting. Any whoozy doozy's, I ordered the OG aka Danny Casper. I'm not sure of the reference, unless it was someone's usual order named Danny Casper, possibly of the Casper's who used to own the Cherokee Sirloin Grille. When I arrived, I'm pretty sure they missed my order and I had to wait a few minutes, no bigs. The sandwich is roast beef, salami, provolone, cheddar, tomato, lettuce, mayo, and Italian dressing (no onions for me). The bread is very traditional hoagie bread, only really soft. The meat and cheese were good quality, especially the roast beef was very tender and delicious. The only criticism I would give is on the Italian dressing; that's a little old fashioned. Oil, vinegar, S & P are the ones for me. Overall, a very good sandwich old school style. I will return to try more sandwiches, and the pizza (I don't remember the pizza but have heard that the white sauce is the best).

Amazing food! BUT, THEY are never open. I called multiple times a day on different days. Finally got a hold of someone, only to get hung up on being told we close at 7 when the schedule states 11.......Inaccurate hours and rude staff is not good business and being short and unfriendly doesn’t help retain business. Have had orders canceled without being notified. Great calzone but beware.

Hot City Pizza ??? Thank you god for letting me find this place!! The Philly Cheesesteak got me looking back at the restaurant like Shoutout to Alana and Alex who were the two employees on the shift today. Food was delicious. Oh yeah, btw I will be back

Hands down the best philly cheese steak in the twin cities.

A lot of attitude from the girl working here, who made a big to do about throwing on the closed sign right after we ordered, even though it was hours before closing time. Pizza was... okay.

Ordered a thin crust "Talk of the town" ($23) for pick up. I was underwhelmed with their pizza for the price... not a lot of toppings on parts of the pizza, I'd prefer carbone's or Savoy's over here. I did like their crust, if Skinners switched to their crust, it would be amazing. Might try a sandwich from here in the future but I'll go elsewhere for pizza.
