This is a fun and fairly new gem in a funky, developing former factory site. The vibe is a blend of old warehouse with a layer of mid-century aesthetics. They are a distillery and make their own spirits onsite from which they have created a list of classic and unique cocktails. Of special note is their trentaerbe (roughly Italian for thirty herbs) which is refreshingly minty and blends well in their own cocktail recipes. The staff are knowledgeable and helpful in making recommendations. We were impressed with the broccolini appetizer with peppery honey sauce balanced against a smoked whitefish pâte that evokes the smoked fish of Minnesota's northern lake country. Entrees are mostly limited to pizza at this point, but once again, there are twists brought to the toppings nicely prepared. I like that they seem to be focused on doing a few things well and hope they will be able to build and take time to develop.

We had a lovely meal at King Coil recently-- the service was perfect, and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. We ordered an appetizer and a pizza, both to share.Oddly, the pizza arrived before the appetizer and it was cold. It appeared that the pizza had been sitting for sometime. Both dishes were tasty and a good quality, but the timing and the temperature were off.This was our first visit. I was surprised that I was unable to order a beer from Monster Lake. I understand that the law prohibits that, but it seems weird to have pizza without beer.In fact, I think the outlook for this lovely little spot would be more promising if it served a more robust, upscale shareables and cocktails menu and did not serve pizza. (Pizza could continue to be served across at Monster Lake.).Or, the pizzas could be made half-size to better serve one person and so encourage guests to order several shareable dishes.In other words, is it a cocktail lounge or a pizza joint?Vegetarian options: Excellent variety of meaningful veg options.

What a great addition to the Creative Enterprise Zone in St Paul. If you like bourbon, gin, and whiskey, you'll find many cocktails on the menu. We enjoyed the old fashioned and Manhattan. The pizza is available for dining-in, dining at Lake Monster Brewery (across the patio), or takeout. If you like a heartier crust and interesting flavors, this Roman-style pizza is for you! Inside the King Coil building is a two story room with seating at the bar, high tops, on an upper loft, and in a large back room. During warm weather, the outside patio is a perfect place for happy hour.

Really wonderful place for a nice night out! The drinks were excellent (we tried two of their signatures, the Limonata and the Hygge, both wonderful, and I had a negroni, which was perfect) and their pizza is to DIE for. The crust is thick, chewy, and absolutely delicious, and the toppings were fresh and tasty. I'm currently eating my leftover pizza from last night and it's still excellent the day after.The staff was wonderful: kind, professional, and extremely lovely. It's a bit loud so worth keeping in mind, but it was still easy to have a conversation with my partner and it was not overwhelming.Really lovely night! Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a slightly more upscale night out in St Paul!Parking: large parking lot, easy to find a spot even on Saturday night

We had the best time at King Coil Spirits. We had a large group for a birthday party and our server, Montana, was such a gem. They took care of our group so well, was attentive to drink and food orders, and leaned into the theme of our party which made it even much fun! The pizzas were incredible and we really enjoyed the burrata bread. 10/10 recommend!

This is such a great place! They were very accommodating of vegan requests and had wonderful options! Cool vibes, and the chefs and workers were very nice.
Waste of money. The service was not good and the food was worse. The drinks were fine but nothing memorable and dusnt make up for everything else. I will not go back.

I'm giving this two stars, and that's being generous. If we'd actually gotten the food we'd ordered, I'm hoping that would increase the star rating, but there's no way to know because our server never put our food order in; though she kept trying to give me drinks that I never ordered. I assume she was high. There's a dispensary nearby, isn't there? She seemed to be screwing up everyones drink order, because the table next to us turned it into a drinking game - which table would get a drink they didn't order next? No one knows! Seriously, pretty sure she'd had a gummy or two.After about an hour, we gave up, paid for our drink, and left.The place was very nice looking, cool atmosphere, and the one drink we had was pretty good. However, there was no host to greet us, nor any direction as to whether we should seat ourselves, and it took the (one) server about fifteen minutes before she came to our table.Hopefully, they work out the kinks, this could be a cool place to hang out.
