We've been to Los Ocampo a handful of times. It's not local to us, but when we want some delicious Mexican cuisine, this is one of our favorites. We'll go out of our way for good, friendly, and helpful service and great food. We'll be back.

This place was good in all aspects. Waitress was patient and quick. The food was great and well seasoned. Atmosphere is a mixture of whatever you need it to be. It's like the staff secretly observes your group and provides the services accordingly. That's a great experience to have.

Food was bland but the worst part was the service. I placed an order for a burrito and asked for a side of queso. The server said it would cost extra. Assuming that it was $1.99 extra as listed for other menu items I said that was fine. She asked it I wanted it on top of the burrito or on the side. I said on top. I also ordered my burrito with red and green peppers instead of meat. When my food came out the queso was in the side, no biggie. But when I cut into the burrito there were mushrooms, I hate mushrooms and never asked for them. I waited several minutes as I figured she’d be back with the salsa we asked for and to check how the food was. She was nowhere and then had to hunt down the server. She came back and took my plate and left the queso. No apology. As everyone else in my party was finishing my burrito came out. It was poorly made and not very good. I didn’t get fresh queso. Fine. When the bill came I was charged the full amount for my meal and $9.99 for the queso! I tried to talk to the server about the cost as that is not what it said on other menu items. She didn’t offer to discount my meal that she messed up and didn’t even offer a manager. I will never go back.

One of my favs love this place! Had to come back and EDIT my review! Went there the other night and the waitress messed up both of our orders she refused to fix her mistakes or get a manager I'm here often so assuming maybe she was new and it was a busy night and she couldn't hear I still paid my tab and tiped however we both left full plates on the table :(

I used to live on White Bear Ave and have been eating at this location since they opoened in 2011. Businesses evolve and Los Ocampo is no exception! Coming out of COVID I feel like they changed their approach in the best way possible. For a few years they got too much into the typical Mexican restaurant mindset where the focus was on low cost over high quality. They were doing the standard fill you up with a bunch of carbs (chips/bean/rice) and salt and wash it down with a reasonably priced 32 ounce beer. Nothing wrong with that style of Mexican restaurant but in 2024 Los Ocampo is very focused on serving the highest quality food! Most recently I had a chimichanga with skirt steak and at $15 + $4.25 extra for rice/beans it's not cheap but I was happy to pay $15 for really a fantastic, high quality, served hot, and asthetically pleasing burrito. On Saturday night, there was a "one man band" playing Mexican music on his guitar and he was playing at a perfect dinner volume so loud enough to hear the music, but quiet enough that we could easily talk at our table. He was really good too and added to the enjoyable dining experience. Our waiter was awesome too and was easy to talk to and knew the menu inside and out! For example, my burrito was too mild so I asked "do you have any jalepenos or hot sauce or something?" Instead of bringing a bottle of Cholula he brought a side of homemade "avocado salsa" that was a perfect level of hot (a bit hotter than Cholula) and wonderful avocado flavor too. I definately recommend asking for avocado salsa on the side if you enjoy a hot meal. The menu does tend to be "Minnesota mild" but that's fine and my middle school aged kids who eat off the adult menu can't handle too much heat yet (they'll learn!) That brings me to my final thought, this place used to be a chain restaurant way back when so they have a large dining area with plenty of space for big family groups with children. There were 3-4 larger family meals going on when we were there, and I can't wait to bring my own group of 10-12 next time!Loc Ocampo is better than ever in 2024, so if you've never tried it or it's been a few years you should definatley give them another chance. They're really good now!

Called in my order at 640PM, told it was gonna be ready 20 minutes. Got there at 7 and still had to wait 30 minutes because the new girl didn't put in the right order.

We came here on Valentine’s Day. The decorations for V-Day was cute and they hosted live music. The hostess greeted us right away and wait time to be seated was less than a minute. The V-Day special strawberry margaritas were amazing. It was dangerous actually because it was so well balanced with sweetness of a fresh strawberry. Our other drinks were very cheap because it was happy hour. Hands down the best margarita I personally tasted.I went with something different than usual and ordered Quesabirria with consome and added a side tamal. The food was perfect. I literally stuffed myself because the taste was on point. Our food arrived very quick as well. Our server was happy, excellent and tipped 33%.

BE CAREFUL WHEN ORDERING ONLINE!!!!!! My review doesn't even deserve one star. I ordered over $100 in food for pick up at the suburban ave location in St. Paul and when I showed up to pick up my food, they told me a doordash driver had already picked up my food. My address was never provided, so where was this driver going to deliver food to? I ordered "pick up" yet they gave my food to someone to "deliver" it. They were not nice about it when I argued that my order was placed for pick up and not delivery and told me lies because my food was never delivered. They told me to bring up the issue to doordash and didn't even apologize for THEIR mistake! They never even provided me a link to doordash! I called Doordash and they informed me that they NEVER assigned a driver to pick up this order because it was ordered for pick up not delivery. So clearly Los Ocampos lied! Thankfully Doordash has AMAZING customer service and they fully refunded my money and apologized for a mistake they did not make. Do better Los Ocampos!!!

This is our new weekly spot to get dinner as a family. We live close enough and the vibe is always welcoming and fun. We love a locally owned restaurant especially with all the surrounding chain spots. Happy hour is SUCH a good deal. Do not miss going on a Sunday and getting delicious drinks and tasty select food items for cheap.
