I love the food here. The fresh spring rolls are perfect and the dipping sauce is so good. If you haven’t tried tofu but are curious about it, I recommend the tofu bun-so delicious.

Michael and I came in on a Sunday evening around 7:00 p.m. the place was packed. It was on Lee Junior and Zachary running the front , but doing so efficiently and quickly. They said please come in. It will be approximately a half an hour but have a seat at our bar and feel free to get a drink while you wait. Very accommodating. The food was amazing. Of course! I got their pho with ribeye. There was plenty of meat! And the flavor was so deep and intense. Just delicious! Michael had Bahn Mi with shrimp. Can't remember what it was called lol but the shrimp was cooked so perfectly! A light deep fry on it. Not greasy! I highly recommend but so does everybody else! They have won tons of rewards!

Been here twice, first time was fine and the food was good. Second time, recognized we had the same waiter and I understand we came 40 min before closing time (I tried to get everyone to arrive by 7 but alas) on Memorial Day weekend but that does take excuse the poor service we got. My friend asked for vegetarian options and the order he got didn’t specify that it had a non vegetarian sauce on the menu. When he asked to get it fixed, the waiter gave a bit of an attitude. Even if he was joking, he has already made comments about us coming in on Memorial Day weekend when they didn’t want to work and made us feel uncomfortable asking for accommodations. In particular, I very specifically asked for no green onions in my pho (I am extremely sensitive to the “raw” taste and texture, to the point of nausea) but it came with it anyways and removing it from the soup became too much of a hassle that I ended up not eating at all, and I was uncomfortable asking for a fix after seeing how he had handled my friend’s order. We weren’t even offered any compensation or discounts. Not to mention the waiter sat with us while we tipped, which was uncomfortable. Each event in isolation wasn’t awful but combined, it ruined the experience, which is unfortunate bc last time was fine. Hence the average of a 3 * review

While visiting St. Paul to see the Minnesota Wild play and go to see Muse in concert, I happened upon Ngon Bistro. From the moment I arrived the staff was absolutely friendly and incredible. After getting some local brew suggestions, I ordered the Chicken Pho. As a huge Pho fan, I have to say this probably is the best broth I have ever had! The chicken was absolutely incredible and portion size was right on point. I also had the wings which were incredible as well. With both things I highly recommend their house made hot sauce which was amazing!Overall it’s one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Ask for Junior, Zach, or Lisa as they were very friendly and very great at their job! Incredible service and incredible food with a low key vibe. Highly recommend this place!!

My bf took me here after he had been here a few years before & loved it. He loves pho, I had never had it. We both ordered a different pho & it was really good. I had the 3 meat pho & he had ribeye pho. We also ordered an order of the wontons, amazing, best I've ever had! We ordered a 2nd order & brought them home! I also ordered a cherry coke & came with boozy cherries, excellent! The restaurant has a cozy feeling, yellow walls & pictures of art on the walls. They have a bar with probably 10 chairs, 3 hightop tables, 3 tables & a few booth/tables. We were asked if we had reservations, and we did not know that we had to have them. The man sat us in the bar area at a hightop table which were reserved for walk ins along with anything at the bar. Our waiter took our drink orders & another took appetizer order. Another guy brought our appetizer out & a different man gave us our main entrées. We had about 4 different waiters, which was confusing. We asked 1 of them for our check & another man finally gave it to us. Its pretty loud in this place, they had easy-going music playing overhead. Good place to get some pho!Parking: There is street parking available around the building & also next to light rail. There is a small surface lot across the street from the restaurant that I'm not sure if u can park there, but we did.

I really liked this place. They try to source most of their ingredients locally. We had the rabbit dumpling and pho (oxtail and 3 meat). The broth is very mild but still flavourful. The menu looks quite diverse and the staff were nice. Will definitely be back to try more.

I went back and forth on leaving this review - I have loved this restaurant for years. So much so that my husband and I came here tonight for our 15th wedding anniversary. We have had really spotty service here many times but the food was always so good that we just dealt with it. But tonight we had such a bad experience that we will never go back. I’m only giving two stars because the appetizers were good. First - the ambiance! This place used to be crowded and they would play records and it was noisy but charming. Tonight it was empty and they were BLASTING punk rock. And we like punk rock - but we couldn’t even hear each other and also it was just weird to eat dinner with this musical backdrop. We were there for two hours and the music was blaring the whole time. Then the food - the appetizers, again, were good, but the pho was just meh and then we ordered the “molton lava cake” which came out rock hard frozen solid! We laughed and sent it back, thinking how funny it was that the kitchen forgot to cook it. But no - the server came back with it and said “the chef says it is supposed to be like this.” I mean - the very meaning of “molton” is hot and melted. It’s like serving ice cream rocket hot and being surprised someone says it should be cold. We were basically ignored most of the time and treated like afterthoughts when we got anyone’s attention - and the place was empty. I guess I see why. Sadly, this place is a “never again” for me.

The food was hit and miss. My pastrami sandwich was amazing although I’m not sure why the scallions were sprinkled all over the plate instead of in my sandwich. My husband’s food wasn’t hot. The service is the reason for only 4 stars. They refilled our water once while we had appetizers and then not again until after we were done with our entrees despite our glasses being empty. If anyone had come to check on us they would have sold another cocktail and glass of wine. We sat with no plates waiting for the bill for way too long.

I had a bad take-out experience (no sauce included for egg rolls and missing accompaniments for the pho). I brought it to the attention of the restaurant, but they weren't very helpful or accommodating. So I ended up spending a chunk of money on eggrolls I couldn't dip in anything and pho I couldn't eat at all until I could go to the grocery store myself the next day to get the necessary accompaniments). Really disappointing. Their food is okay, but I won't go back and I wouldn't recommend.

Weird service. The server seemed like she really didn't want to be there... Or maybe she was only partially aware that she was working. The spring rolls and the pho were extremely delicious! I also ordered a hot tea that was deep red and it was delightful

Food pretty good but service frustrating, Wait staff brought wrong appetizer, which we ignored and just went with the flow. But then 1 of our 4 entrees took 10-15 min longer to arrive. We sat around awkwardly food getting cold. We asked repeatedly before last entree arrived so late w no explanation. I ordered a glass of wine halfway through meal that never arrived, despite a second request. It finally showed up - on the bill. Again, the food was good - although padded with a lot of rice - but disappointing dining experience overall.

This is one of the few "upscale" restaurants in my neighborhood. Went here tonight for a date with my partner, when we arrived about half the tables were full. The host was about to seat us when the manager quickly ran up to the front and said it would be a 30 minute wait. We said that's fine, we'd just sit down and have a drink. He said no, you can't even sit down for 30 minutes because all the people you see here just arrived. So I said...you're asking us to leave, we can't even have a drink? He said yes so we left. Still confused as to why we couldn't have sat at the bar. Needless to say we won't be coming back again. Have lived in MN for three years now and this is just the typical mediocre Minnesota restaurant hospitality experience we've unfortunately come to expect. No trouble shooting, no kindness to the customers who frequent your business and keep you alive during the pandemic, just rudeness and shuffling out the door. Still have two stars because the food is good...if you're allowed to sit down and eat it.

4.5 ⭐ Had an awesome date on the patio. The whole service outside is operated on the Toast application, you scan a code at your table, order, and pay all within the app.I ordered an old fashioned & started with their crispy rabbit dumpling. The dumpling came out freshly hot on flavorful coconut curry. The old fashioneds were aromatic but lacked both boozy or a sweet punch.Next was an order of steamed duck bao, which tasted delicious but was a little dry. Admittedly, we went towards the end of their operating hours and I understand duck is hard to keep moist over the course of the day. We ended up dipping them in the coconut curry and really enjoyed them.Best of all, we had the pleasure of having the chef's special pastrami sandwich! Bo kho spiced pastrami, 24 hour slow smoked and pho broth steamed meat. Stacked on top of caraway rye bread with a good touch of whiskey whole grain mustard. EASILY one of the best sandwiches in St. Paul! The cocktail could be easily touched up and the bao buns could use a dipping sauce. Otherwise, everything was excellent, especially that pastrami sandwich!
