I love Sawatdee food, always have. This time was awful. My food was good. But my husband got fisherman’s delight as he has many times, and the whole dish is different no more crab claws and these very large pieces of squid (I assume) like 2” long. And the sprongs seemed like they were laying around for long time and they just threw em back in the deep fryer. Thai for 2 includes a bottle of wine and we asked for a sweet red wine with no up charge. And we got a dry white. The server seemed new, didn’t know what to offer. All the shades were pulled closed on an already rainy evening. Just all around bummer.

I don't think I've ever thrown away take out food or written a negative food review before, but here we go. Maybe it's an off night for them... I travel constantly and I've had my favorite dish pad see ew at well over 50 restaurants. This was exceptionally different, and worse. The noodles they are using are awful and thin, not wide, tender, and stretchy. (Not even sure they are rice noodles... they look and feel more like a dehydrated fettucine.) The noodles were also undercooked, stained (not coated), and looked like they never saw a wok or a flame, no charring. Ordered 5/5 spicy and it's just not hot. I can't taste or see any Thai chillies, the only flavor here is black pepper. The sauce was super thin and flavorless, was only mildly sweet, and did not taste like any kind of soy sauce. The fried tofu was flavorless and overcooked. The broccoli also never saw a flame or hot surface, looks and tastes like it was boiled or steamed. The small amount of egg present was cooked fine, but soggy from the large amount of black pepper water. I'm certainly not an expert in making Thai food, but I think the restaurant could source better rice noodles, use Thai chillies instead of black pepper, marinate their tofu, fry their tofu for less time, thicken and adjust their sauce recipe, and use a hot hot hot wok to cook and char the noodles, broccoli, tofu, and egg. I'm going to try to finish the broccoli and toss the rest. Disappointing for such a simple dish. $16.50 after tax.Edit: On first glance the reviews for this restaurant seemed pretty positive so I thought my experience was isolated, but scrolling through them I see now that they are overwhelmingly negative and have been for some time. Something suspicious is going on with their total star rating which is not consistent with the actual reviews. And, this restaurant is doing nothing in response to the feedback provided. Their food is bad and they don't care.

Average food although options appeared great in the menu, below average ambience and not any close to the pics on the website, was pretty hot and made me sweat after 20 mins in, service was pretty fast and possibly had a total of 8 guests, serving sauce in to go plastic cups etc

Accused of not paying for our food when we picked up our takeout order tonight. We HAD to pay online in advance of placing our order, so that wasn’t even possible. Comment was directed at my partner (black male) by an Asian woman on staff who was yelling across the restaurant. Food was great but that was a hell of a meet and greet and a first for us. I won’t tip in advance anymore.

Juan is an attentive, enthusiastic and professional server. He listened to us and gave great recommendations.

Always love dining at this location (St. Paul). The food is delicious! The staff is amazing- friendly, helpful, knowledgeable. Street parking- but we never seem to have an issue finding a spot. A gem.

I ordered takeout and prepaid online. Host had a bit of an attitude; he made me sign credit card receipt but it turns out he was only to try to get me to tip (on a takeout order), as he very openly threw the receipt away after I didn't tip. That just came across as tacky and petty.Cream cheese rangoon was tasty but pad thai was extremely dry and not the most flavorful.I get takeout here because it's on the walk from work back to my hotel. That would be my only reason to eat here again. If I was mobile or wasn't in the immediate area already, I'd definitely look for a better Thai restaurant.

I made a rather large delivery order as it should last for a few days. I ordered #20 Laab Esan with pork, #11 Cream Cheese Wonton, #5 Chicken Satay, #4 Sue Egg Rolls, #24 Red Curry w beef, and various sauces I'm saving the laab and curry for later. Everything was quite scrumptious. The satay was a little dry, but it's hard to expect different when it's delivery. It tasted great still with plenty of the peanut sauce -- I ordered extra. Only 2.5/5 on this. It's probably 5/5if you're dining in. The cream cheese wontons were stuffed really full with warm soft cream cheese, delightful with the sweet chili sauce. 5/5 The egg rolls were just HUGE - surprisingly excellent texture after delivery: still hot and crisp. I had to eat mine with knife and fork it was so large. Also used the sweet chili sauce. 4.5/5 on the egg roll. Price including delivery and tip was $60! This effectively 4 good-sized meals. I will be ordering from Sawatdee again! Sawatdee kha!

The food is amazing and the flavors of the sauces in all their dishes are spot on. The appetizer platter (2 wantons, 1 egg roll & 2 sarongs), 2 entrees, a dessert and 2 glasses of wine special for $48 per couple can't be beat. The service is always mediocre. Tonight the hostess called in sick so they had 1 bar tender & 2 servers. While it seemed slow, we weren't in any rush and we were in and out on Valentine's Day in 75 Minutes which I would say is very fast. Tonight the service was par for the course and has never been stellar but the food is great, prices are great and it is in a great location with easy parking. Our server was lovely, joked, apologized for delay in getting us our water/ordering and was very accommodating. Of all the Sawatdee restaurants this is the only one we eat at because of the friendly staff, quality of food, easy of parking and quiet space.

Enjoyed our VCalentine Dinner at Sawatdi. Food was delicious. Was understaffed for the volume of guests. The server was swamped but very pleasant to her customers. Dining room could use some enhancements if it is trying to compete on basis of ambiance.
