Amazing food, super friendly staff - a must try! I ordered the O.G. wings, Naem Khao (Crispy Coconut Rice), Noakeo's Eggrolls, and Garlic noodles. My favorites were the wings and noodles. Both had a perfect balance of sweet and savory and even a little bit of spice. The rice was good, but crispy rice isn't my favorite thing. Delicious flavor and generous servings. We ate next door at wandering leaf which had lots of seating and I highly recommend digging in there. On Wednesdays, they have a deal where you can get 3 pieces of chicken wings instead of 5 and $2 off a beer for a reduced price. It was a little pricey, but I'd give it a try at least once.

This was my first time here with my fiance and her sister. When you walk in there's a door on the left and the right. The door on the left is the restaurant and the door on the right is the brewery. It's more or less a place to order food for takeout however they do have a few tables to dine in if you choose to do so and the tables aren't taken. I ordered the chicken skewers and the shrimp spring rolls since I wasn't famished. The food was good portions, however it was a bit expensive for the area. Also I appreciate they had a bathroom for customers however it was so small the customers sitting and waiting for their food had to stand up every time I needed to go to the bathroom. But all in all it was a good experience, the staff was very polite, kind and seem to care for their customers.

I had read about how awesome this place was. They were right on!! We got the egg rolls, wings, Khao Soi Haeng, sticky rice and spicy green sauce. All was fabulous!! Definitely a new spot to return too over and over again. Next time we're going to take it over to the brewery.

I can’t explain how special Soul Lao is. We used to live near Pok Pok (if u know u know) who had my favorite wings of all time but honestly Soul Lao’s is just better. I hope they get the same national recognition in the future. I’m so happy they have a storefront now so that we can get to enjoy them regularly. Everything is good. No notes.

Soul Lao has been one of my favorite culinary experiences for years. They are one of the most consistent kitchens in Minnesota, the reason being the staff. The owner is always there working with the same people who have been serving me for 2+ years from the original food truck. Do not miss out.

Small dine-in or take out spot. Food was mediocre at best and super expensive. I don’t think I’ve ever went to any Asian restaurants before with 2 egg rolls at 8 bucks. Portions were just way too small at the price. You can easily go to some other Asian restaurants on University Ave and get better food at a less expensive bill imo.

Have been meaning to try this spot for some time. Everything was excellent. So flavorful and interesting. Highly recommend as carryout and taking next door to enjoy a beer at Whistling Leaf Brew Pub.

Food was good but over price.i can get similar for fraction of the cost. Service was good and small clean little place. Change to a 4 stars because it was over priced for the items. Papaya salad for $16, can get 2 out order elsewhere and it taste as good. I want to go back but I can't afford to eat there. With the amount I spent, around a $100, I can cook myself some.

The food is all hype! Not worth the money, at all. Worst $80 I've spent on food. They should really put on their menu if there are certain foods not cooked all the way. Otherwise I wouldn't have ordered Laab for my pregnant 8 month self that comes medium rare- it's not that hard to put on the menu - Medium rare charcoal grill steak. The portion was definitely lacking too. For the price, that half cup of meat and everything else is veggies portion is not cutting it. I'd like to pay for the meat, not for the veggies. The Naem Khao- no taste of coconut and the rice was at least 2 day old rice. That crispy rice is not a good crisp of rice, it's just hard. I've had many Naem Khaos at other restaurants and even made my own and I've never tasted ones that were hard rice. There is a difference between harden days old rice and crispy rice! The eggrolls were way too salty! Salt is to enhance the flavor not be the only flavor! Way too much salt for an eggroll. The wings were crispy. It was decent and good if you like sweet and fish sauce. I didn't mind it. It was the only thing I could scuff down my through. All hype no actual flavor or authenticity.
