Friendly staff and cozy atmosphere. My second time in. First time was much better. Good food but chef may have been a little rushed. Bacon a little burnt and eggs very bland. Not bad overall tho. I will return.Parking: Small parking lot behind the building. It was early on a weekday so it was not hard to park. Weekends may be busier.

Awesome little diner that is everything you're looking for in a breakfast joint. Bottomless coffee, quick service, and tasty food. We sat at the counter and were entertained by the amount of hash browns that were cooking and the consistency of delicious food being sent out. I recommend the banana pancakes if you have enough room after eating the hash browns, eggs, and sausage/bacon.

Took my mom out for breakfast and didn’t even get a chance to try the food. First I was served water in a dirty cup. Things were floating in my water and the cup was visibly dirty. Second, my mom and I ordered our food and 40 minutes later our food still hadn’t come. People who arrived AFTER us received their food. Our waitress served someone she knew first who came in 15 minutes after we did.Never going here again.

Food was ok and a little overpriced. I was surprised to see a "service fee" tacked on to the bill. If you feel the need to tack on a hidden service fee because the cost of doing business is high, maybe it's time to close up shop.

This is my favorite breakfast spot in St. Paul right now. In the neighborhood, it's great to take a morning walk in the spring or summer to pop in. They do the standards right, the speed is wonderful and it's an incredible atmosphere for an old school diner spot. I'll be back time and time again.

Service: perfect. Ambiance: 60's retro. Food: Comfort. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. I had the breakfast combo - two eggs, crispy, hashbrowns, andouille sausage two cinnamon pancakes with blueberries. The cinnamon in the pancakes did bring out the flavor of the blueberries. The andouille sausage was tasty, a little hot, and a little overcooked. The hashbrowns were crispy and light. The coffee was good, but nothing special. disposable servings of plain creamer. No vanilla. All in all, a solid local cafeteria. One note: the meal wound up costing me $30. That's about five bucks more than average for a breakfast these days.

NO AMERICAN CHEESE? This place is great really good food very friendly staff. My wife got French toast and I had pancakes. They were tasty and delicious. My wife was going to get an omelet with American cheese, only to be told, "We don't have American cheese." Not in the entire place. Cheese options Cheddar and Swiss. That's all folks! The place is small, I guess only room enough for two cheeses. We were baffled, only two? OK. Not much else to say.

Uptowner is a classic St. Paul staple. I take my son out for lunch on their sandwich and malt special days, or breakfast there any day !!

The food was very good as was the service. But the place can use a little brightening up, and my friends experience with the men’s bathroom was frightful.
