However, what really peterbed me was the front desk manager. My client was of the elder, and the bathroom light would not come on. She asked to see, and the lady said, "It's been that way, (rudly), and to figure her way around it." She came out tripped, trying to find her way to the stall. This is a story I would not make up. “Great place, good food, weird vibe! The waitress or cook was off. We ordered an appetizer. Our friends ordered a different appetizer after us. Their appetizer arrived. We asked about ours. She told us it will be coming. Our food arrived and we asked again about the appetizer. She seemed confused. The appetizer never arrived and when she brought the bill she said something about never getting the appetizer. The whole exchange was weird. They should also take salads off the menu. “For me neighborhood bars are the heartbeat of the community. A good place to get information on things to eat, see and do. The Spot has that feel. A smaller place with room for 6-10 at the bar and 4-6 booth/tables. The flavor in the air was a musty grandmas living room with a hint of an ashtray. A pinball machine, darts and machine fed pull tabs are available as well as paperback books and a big Bible. The bartender was the kind that uses a lot sarcasm to keep things in order and that’s not bad especially when you see the same people most of the time. A shot and a beer was 9$. If I was ever in the neighborhood again I’d check out another place for variety but would have no issue with going back. Enjoy!“

She was so friendly and showed me all the herbs that she uses for her dishes. She piled my lunch buffet plate high with beef, chicken curry, pork, wontons, and rice, and checked in to make sure it wasn't too spicy and that I'd had enough rice. “Small little bar that’s CASH ONLY. A White Claw can was only $4.25! I think that’s the lowest I’ve ever been charged! Not too busy so I got a lot of attention and good service. There’s an atm, a dartboard, one pool table and a change machine for quarters. There’s about 8 taps and 4 dozen bottles of hard alcohol. I don’t think there’s a kitchen or a menu. Just some bags of chips and 3 boxes of pull tabs.“

“I've gone here a few times in my life living in the neighborhood down the street from this place. It's been several names but now it's Cheer's Pub after the latest ownership change. They run a decent bar, seem to keep tabs on the patrons and it's a decent hangout. It's a typical neighborhood bar with a lot of regulars, cheap drinks, pull tabs, plus some stuff good...football nights, live music with local cover bands and some homegrown musicians, and Karaoke nights. The food here with the new owners is actually pretty damn good for a bar. I've ate here a couple times and I'd go back for those times I'm peckish and don't want to make anything myself (and they make a good drink). Simple menu: French fries, Mozzarella sticks, Jalapeño poppers, Hot dog, Slaw dog, Polish dog, Burger, Cheeseburger, Chicken drummies/sandwich/tenders, Catfish nuggets, Corned beef or Turkey sandwich.This time around I had the slaw dog (see pic) and it was a good take on a Chicago but with slaw...it's a beaut and tastes great, plus the fresh cut fries were the bomb.“

Good acoustics and the staff was pretty efficient and made you feel safe without standing over you.Food was meh, I had the shwarma Burger which I was kinda excited about as it seemed unique. It was again just kinda meh. Thin patty they throw some spice on. The pickled cabbage was delightful however and the bun was good. I also really liked this orange spicy sauce that was like a aioli I think. Chips were house made which is a plus but again - shwarma spices all over and not great. I asked for ketchup when I first got the Burger and the lady kinda sighed and rolled her eyes which was the only bad service experience I had here. Overall, I'd skip the food going forward.Drinks were good, bartender knowledgeable and nice like a bartender should be. Getting in the door was kinda a hassle for some reason and it took awhile standing outside, but not completely ridiculous by any means. Parking is easy either on street or in a 20 dollar ramp connected to this place.Overall I'd go back for the bands and the booze, but the food - even for bar food - was not anything good.“
