This has the best Mexican food ever!!You have to try it. We have been there several times and every time we are amazed that it is so good and we didn't know it was even there.

We recently stopped in here for lunch on our way through town and it was terrible! First, it was around 1:00, so they had been open for 2 hours already, but it felt like we tried to get in before they were ready. The bathrooms were not yet set up (garbage on a chair, no toilet paper, paper towels, soap, etc.), yet had also not been flushed. The ambiance was terrible; it was cold (servers were wearing jackets!), there are at least a dozen large tvs, all on separate channels. I had to find my own silverware and high chair. There were crayons and coloring books available, but not offered, so I just grabbed them myself as well. There was 1 other table in the entire restaurant, but our server rarely came to our table, and when she did it was with the absolute minimum interaction. Each time I had to have my list of needs ready (water and a plate were some of these needs, pretty basic offerings at a restaurant, but after realizing this is how service would be, I only asked for things I couldn't grab myself from other tables or the visible serving station) and rattle them off quickly before she walked away. I have been a server, I know that it's tough and it's easy when busy to let things slip away. I am kind and I tip well, even for poor service, when I know that is what is happening. That was absolutely not the case here, it was just very very poor service for no notable reason (maybe she was having a bad day? Maybe she didn't like us? - that's always a question we have to assess as a Queer couple with kids). Oh, and final complaint, it was $9 for a piddly little basket of chips and salsa that was not refilled until the very end when I finally grabbed her to ask for more! I really dislike when things that are generally a standard complimentary item (chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant!!) are a charge.

13.99 for a taco dinner not bad but bruh the Al pastor . Never had a skimpy taco on my life . Usually 13 is fair for a taco dinner and I expected a healthy taco . but I had more pineapple in my taco vs protein . Rice tasted like day old rice or pegao straight from the bottom of pot hard and the beans… nahhhhh avoid please too much money you will not be getting the quality and quantity you deserve

La Carreta is the best Mexican restaurant in Stillwater. I wish I had found this authentic mexican restaurant sooner. Have probably driven by for a couple of years and had no idea it was there. This is real authentic mexican food. Not what I typicall see in the area. Large selection of dishes and mexican beer.

They delivered awesome chips right away. They seemed nice enough, but the original server didn't check back that often so couldn't ask for more food. The food was expensive so I expected it to be good. It was all ok, but the shrimp cocktail ($19.99) sucked. We got cheesecake to go which they put Frosted Flakes in that cost $9 and was a sliver. Overall, our bill was like $145 for 3 regular meals, 2 kids meals and 2 drinks (during happy hour) and cheesecake. Plus, we got charged for the chips that we didn't order. Will not go back. I led the restaurant feeling upset with myself for spending that kind of money on crap.

The Tacos were pretty good. Full of flavor and seasoning. Service was friendly and consistent.

This place used to be good. Not sure what happened. Food was decent although they reversed the proteins for our two entrees. The restaurant was empty - we should had known something was wrong. On top of that, the "house" margarita was terrible, small, no hint of tequila, and charged $15.99. I asked if they made a mistake and accidentally charged for a premium drink. Nope. That was the price. Maybe only good for take-out (if they get the order right). Don't come here for the drinks.

Came to try this place for the first time, we ordered three main dishes, the first one took 50 minutes to come out and the other two orders took over ONE HOUR to come out. In addition to that my meal was missing tortillas which took another 10 more minutes to come out.Responding to your comment:Its not about feeling bad, it's about owning and taking responsibility pf the problems so you can make improvements. You gave us $10 off our bill which did not compensate for an hour of our time wasted and having to pay for dinner twice because we went to go buy food again after we left your place. You can take some time to read other reviews you have, and you will see this is not a one time problem, many people complain about food taking two long, there is a review of someone waiting for 2 hours. Bottom line, I hope you can use our reviews for improvement. Thank you

This used to be our favorite place in Stillwater. It's went down hill to say the least. The guacamole was plain nasty . The seafood fajitas were just shrimp and some mushy fish. They used to me loaded with seafood. The service was good and the waitress apologized more than once.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE.Never again. Only received half of our order. Apparently, no chips come with the $8 half cup of runny, bland queso dip . Fries don't pair well with chimichangas to begin with and to add insult to injury, it came with less than half a handful of what appeared to be fries from the bottom of the basket. The chimichanga itself was nasty. They stuff the meat, the beans, the rice, and the lettuce into the tortilla. So, what you're left with is mush and soggy lettuce. The half gallon of red sauce they poured on the "chimichanga" was gritty and flavorless. When we recorded the 2nd half of our order, not only did they accept it but marked it as ready but when we got there to pick it up, they said they had NEITHER the carne asada nor flan which was the entire order! Then they wanted us to cancel the order even though they flagged it as completed!$60 for two meals we barely thouched, one of which we didn't even order. We will never order from here again.

Service is terrible as soon as we walked in at around 8:11 overheard another waitress talked to the first waitress that was already going to seat us down that they are about to close at 9. Waitress claimed it’s only 8:11 and we were sat down. We ordered our drinks and we noticed the menu was also shortened. As for the food we ordered in total 5 tacos which took over 20 minutes.

I ordered two shrimp tacos, a side of frijoles, and a side of sour cream. I ate the first taco whole with the tortillas but it had a taste of old or cheap oil and it was a bit wet so I ate the second taco with a fork. It wasn't delicious but it was oka; I added some frijoles to mellow it out. Everything was okay until I saw an uncooked shrimp. ? Now I am praying I don't get sick because I have cancer and I am on chemo. Please, don't let me throw up the chemo.? The frijoles were like soup. The sour cream was just a little plastic cup and they charged $1.99 for it. ?Never again. ?

This place is more than amazing. The cook has a passion for this and you can taste it in the food!I ordered 4 tacos. 2 lengua, 1 chorizo, and 1 pastor, every single meat selection was cooked to perfection! I love to try these meats at MANY different locations and this cook made it the best by a LONG SHOT! The margaritas were 2 for 1 and made to perfection! Not too much mix or too much alcohol. They care about what they do, I promise you this! If I lived in Stillwater, you would find me as a regular customer ? thank you all so much for caring about what you do!
