Ordered breaded pork tenderloin and onion rings. Friends tenderloin was so tough she couldn't eat it. Mine was OK but nothing to brag about. Onion rings were very over fried. To be fair they did reduce our ticket by half. The waitress was fantastic.

A far stretch from your typical small town bar, the atmosphere of this place is most assuredly the boost that Auxvasse needed. I ordered nachos with pulled pork and jalapenos as a topper, and it was more than I could eat in one sitting. That's saying a lot as I'm not a small man. The staff are good country folk who will treat you like family if you are a kind person. If you like Karaoke, this is most definitely a song bird bar. If you were to ever need a reason to check out Auxvasse, this is that reason.

Stopped by for a late lunch on a road trip from Jeff City. Catfish dinner was great and my wife really enjoyed her chicken strip meal. Also had the fried pickle appetizer. Everything was fresh and hot, and service was great.

This Pub is located just outside of Auxvasse, city limits. Mr Buchanan said, "Just when you think you've gone too far, you went JUST far enough," that's probably the best spontaneous tagline I have ever heard uttered. After a hearty welcome, & a brief reunion of two old friends 25 years hence, we sat down to business. FOOD. Guys, they handle their business with finesse & skill that belies their rural location. ---- We began our culinary adventure w/ Pulled Pork Nachos; a biiiiig plate made to be shared, but could stand alone beautifully as an entree! House-fried crispy tortilla chips doused in white Queso, topped w/red onion, jalapenos, shredded cheese, &TWO unique sauces. The barbecue sauce is a special blend of the proprietor, his 20+ years of honing these skills definitely comes through. Raspberry Chipotle sour cream was an unexpected revelation; something I'd never considered in my own lengthy culinary history. {My Dudes, SO. GOOD asked for a side of it to dip my onion rings in, & I ain't a bit sorry} Final topping was of course, Pulled Pork, & dayyyyumm. Tender, smoky, &mellow, w/ just the tiniest hint of apple cider vinegar... don't usually go for pulled pork, but this wasn't just a gimme. I found a chunk o' meat under the chips, & it had The Crust on the outside. Anybody who has smoked meat themselves, or is a fan of it knows, that crust is where it's at. YUM! Smoky, sweet, savory, crunchy, creamy, cheesy; these Bad Boys are a flavor bomb that checked all the boxes. --- I ordered the Catfish Grinder & again, was totally jazzed. Served on a pillowy, toasted hoagie roll, I was immediately intrigued by the crunchy coating. Clearly hand-breaded, it was fried to perfection; no mean feat in &of itself when considering a fish dish of any kind. The blend used in the breading was top notch. Again, our proprietor's own experience & hard-won lessons in the kitchen are present in these little, seemingly innocuous touches. Golden, crunchy breading gave way to delicate, layered white fish inside, steaming as my fork broke the confines of the outer-crust. I just couldn't resist, I snatched up a piece in my fingers and dug in. Popping it in my mouth, it was suddenly summertime of 1992. Catfish right out of the river that threaded it's way through our families bottom-land fields. Fresh, flaky, moist, just about heavenly. Close as you could come to heaven on a backroad between Mokane &Tebbetts, anyhow...? --- Jason (hubs) opted for the monolithic "Oh Sage' Burger, sweet potato fries & homemade potato salad. When our food arrived at the table, I quietly murmured to myself, "We're going to need a bigger boat." Served on a soft but substantial Kaiser roll (again toasted! A+), The "Oh Sage" features a 1/2 lb burger, topped w/melty Cheddar, grilled onion, jalapenos, Fried pickles, & the House BBQ sauce. THEN thick-cut bacon, wafered smoked ham, & their signature pulled pork. Sage, himself, waited table-side, just to watch Jason take the first bite, "I just wanna see if you can get it in your mouth." ?After a few moments of consideration & agreed-upon bun-smushing, he did, indeed, get a big bite of everything. Though I didn't get a bite (meanie!) of it in it's entirety, I did manage to scavenge morsels of the individual components. Burger: juicy, flavorful Bacon: thick, smoky, crispy Cheese: real !Cheddar! stands up to the meats Ham: wafer-thin beautiful flavor Fried pickles: YES Just yes. --- The entire experience, stem-to-stern, was absolutely wonderful. Friendly patrons, obliging and courteous staff, and of course, the indefatigable Mr. Sage Buchanan . {{Meeting this gentleman, whom I had heard stories of for decades, was the proverbial icing on the cake for me. Watching he & J reconnect and laugh about their exploits long ago, was a balm that after the past year, was sorely needed}} I could genuinely see this establishment becoming a haven for not only

The best spot in central Missouri. Just a bit off the intersection of I-70 and Highway 54 but worth the detour. Pulled pork nachos, pulled pork quesadillas are some highlights, but steak and burgers definitely hit high marks. The pepper bites are good enough to fist fight a local for. You're a fool if you pass this opportunity up.

Good hometown bar and grill. Food and service were both good on our recent trip. I had the Tenderloin and the wife had the Smoked Turkey Salad. Both were really good. Had several TVs with the game on so that was a plus also. I reccomend, give them a try and see what you think.
