Had to wait 10+ minutes despite having a reservation. Owner was a bit odd, maybe just busy. Place is very cramped and had weird EDM playing. Wait staff were totally lousy, had three separate waitresses and each messed something up and were very slow. Food was just okay. Definitely overpriced.Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly at all.Wheelchair accessibility: Place is very cramped, so it's a tight squeeze.

I work in a customer service centered industry and I appreciate excellent service, attentive staff, and a great product. Black Salt lived up to the hype local magazines put out there. ??We’ve been eyeing the modern Indian restaurant for a while now. I finally made reservations for us to go on Friday & the service and food were AH-MAZ-ING.My date ordered a Taj to drink, which is an Indian light beer. Very easy to drink and paired well with the flavorful dishes we ordered. We thought we would order what we wanted or what sounded good, but ended up listening to the staff’s recommendations since it was our first visit. What we shared over the hour we were there:Palak Chaat with Mango, which was like a multidimensional spinach salad with a balance of sweet, salty, and crunchThe Tandoori chicken salad might have been my favorite dish. The encrusted chicken thigh was melt in your mouth tender with two refreshing house dips. The garlic naan stood out and complimented the spicy (by our choosing) Chicken Tikka Masala.Whatever you’re craving, this restaurant has something to match your mood and liking. Check it out and make a reservation. We can’t wait to go back.

I have been in St Louis for 5 days and I ate Black Salt for 4 days (sadly closed on Mondays). Any review less than 5 stars has an imaginary axe to grind—the food is incredible. Having lived in rural India (and travelled across 27 Indian states), I find Black Salt to be 100% authentic, well balanced, and absolutely delicious. Is it the spiciest? No. Is this the best dal makhani I’ve ever tasted in and out of India? Yes! Have I also sampled my way through the entire menu? Yes, and I loved every bite.Side note: to anyone saying Indian dishes should not be priced at this cost, I respectfully ask; why should quality Indian (or for that matter, quality Mexican, or Thai, etc., etc.,) be only priced at or under $15 per dish when you happily pay more at any Italian or French restaurant? You’re not only paying for the ingredients, you’re paying for the expertise of the kitchen. There is a real bias against paying the equivalent for “ethnic” food vs “high-end” (read: Euro-centric) cuisine in this country. (And if it matters, which it shouldn’t, the portions are huge! Each entree could easily feed two adults)Black Salt, please open a second location in Chicago!!

If you are looking for authentic Indian food, this place is definitely not it. The food here is extremely bland and not authentic Indian food at all. We ordered 2 appetizers and a drink for a crazy $40 and both dishes were inedible. The panipuri water was so salty and just tasted off. The potatoes in the puri on the other hand had no seasoning whatsoever. And there was no tamarind chutney, which is essential to panipuri. The paneer skewer was well presented but there was no seasoning at all, not even salt. The sauces that came with it were at least a little bit flavorful but there was such a small quantity given and they were very watered down. The only decent thing was the fresh lime soda which tasted nothing like a true Indian fresh lime soda and was basically a virgin mojito. The service was mediocre at best and we had to go up to the hostess stand and wait for a bit to get our check. The food seems to be EXTREMELY white-washed. If you are looking for good Indian food, please visit a restaurant that actually spices their food.

We had ordered two samosa chat cost us 40 dollars through Uber eats . One of the worst samosa chat we ever had . It was not fresh at all . Quality was so poor my mom took one bite she trashed her portion .After I took some bites it really scared me that I may end in to er with food poisoning . These people are thieves I am going to report it to the Missouri state and also Attorney General Missouri if she get sick because she is elderly.

Very bad customer service. Arrogant manager. Food was extremely heavy and salty. This is not an authentic indian food restaurant.

I was impressed with how simple but elegant the restaurant was. However, they have a pretty small space with not so many tables, reservation ahead of time is a must.We started with mango lassi and masala chai. I loved the mango lassi a lot- the sweetness is perfect for my liking. Masala chai was very creamy and balanced in spices. For entrée,we ordered our go to dishes - butter chicken with garlic naan and biriyani lamb. We also got tandoori murgh and mango palak chaat which were suggested by my server. The food came out pretty quick. We loved all the dishes here - very rich in flavor, generous portion and well presentation. We liked Mango palak chaat a lot- such a well balancing flavor appetizer. I personally think their garlic naan is the best garlic naan I ever had - the bread was super soft and buttery. I ordered roti for my son but I didn't like it as much as garlic naan.Overall, Black Salt offered a very delightful dining experience. Highly recommend, and we will definitely go back pretty often.

So good! I got butter chicken, samosa, and garlic Naan. The chicken was so delicious and tender. The chutneys with the samosa were amazing, spicy, and authentic. Will be going back any time I am in town!

We discovered Black Salt last evening, what a terrific find! The lovely dining room was filled with courteous energetic people; it was well lit, super-clean and inviting. Very pleasant. The servers were excellent, the plate-ware and settings crisp and modern and the food was superb! So delighted to finally find a great Indian cuisine restaurant in Saint Louis. The menu is extensive, the food from salads through chicken vindaloo so fresh and succulent, the spinach and paneer the best we have had, and the vegan massala far better than any other chana type dishes we have had anywhere! The portions were large and satisfying and the spicing perfect. The Taj was cold, copper mugs a fun plus and all was perfected by Sanjev meeting and attending to us throughout, despite the Sunday night crowd. We cannot wait to try the other two sister restaraunts in Creve Coeur and South St. L. too.
