“The Classic Grill: A Blast from the Past in MissouriMy wife Kimberly and I were visiting family in Sedalia and Cole Camp. We have had our fill of the same old fast food chains and generic restaurants. We needed something different. Something real.We wanted a place like Cole Camp itself. A place where people still knew each other by name. A place where life was simple and slow.There was a restaurant that stood out from all the others. It was covered with blue lights that gave it a retro vibe. It looked like a place that had a story to tell.We decided to give it a try.We were immediately greeted by a friendly waitress who led us to a table. She handed each of us a menu and asked what we wanted to drink. We placed our order and looked at the menu.It was full of home-town food, the kind that your mom or grandma used to make. Here’s a list of some of those items:• Pork tenderloin sandwich• Meatloaf• Onion rings• Fried fish• And much, much moreEverything was made from scratch and cooked to order. The portions were generous and the prices were unbelievably reasonable.I asked the waitress what she recommended. She said that the pork tenderloin sandwich was their specialty, and that it arrived almost as big as the plate on which it sat. She said that it came with hand cut fries and coleslaw, and that it was simply the best sandwich that we’d ever eat.I was hungry and adventurous, and so I decided that I’d give it a go.She smiled and took my order.A few minutes later, she brought me my sandwich. It was huge. The pork was tender and juicy, coated with a crispy batter. The bun was soft and buttery. The fries were hot and crispy.
