This is an unassuming hole in the wall for sure. This all wooden building looks like it could pass as someone's backyard shed with no windows. The bartender immediately saw us and asked for our drink order. This joint does not appear to serve food but they did have free popcorn. We decided to sit outside on the small patio. We were shocked when both bartenders checked on us multiple times as we weren't expecting table service. This definitely is more of a locals stomping ground as it was clear we were out of towners but they poured us a nice cold beer so a great spot to catch up with an old friend.

Great spot to go. Bartenders are amazing, friendly and fun. Good people that go in there.

Coldest beer in six counties. If you love Hams - this is the jam. Five stars! Check it out.

Very laid-back. The bartender was refreshingly friendly and helpful. Free popcorn! That day there were a few small groups of people including my party-of-two. Even though the building is quite small it still felt private enough to us. We sat at the bar and could hear the music I chose (there's a jukebox) but still managed to be able to hear each other. We engaged in a little banter with a few others once or twice ... the atmosphere was pleasant. It was a beautiful day so we also spent some time on the little patio outside, its partially covered and has tables and chairs. I'm from out-of-town but felt at ease the moment I walked through the door. Ill definitely stop back in the Black and Gold Tavern the next time I'm in Columbia.

One of my favorite places

Showed up for a drink, watched the waitress completely ignore me then proceeded to help locals who showed up way after me.... Sounds like you're typical redneck establishment. So if that's what you're looking for then this the place. Racism to the max.

Best dive bar in Central Missouri. No food served other than popcorn. Strong pours. Cheap beer specials. Great and friendly service. You'll meet all kinds of interesting folks in this place. Bathrooms are just what you'd expect for a bar. It's a great place to take a date and see what they're made of.
