Cool place with interesting decor. Their specialty cocktails (at least the 2i tried) are delicious, and the bartender is impressive to watch. Nice people.

What a beautiful space for drinks and dinner! There's a fun holiday cocktail menu and all our small plates (Harissa Shrimp, Bolognese Pasta, and Seared Tuna) were wonderful. Every dish that was carried out to other tables looked amazing. The service was great too, and hope we can go back someday soon!

I love the small, cozy, intimate ambiance of this restaurant and the attentive wait staff. And the food is great. If you like food prepared in unique ways with NOT your run of the mill ingredients, then give this place a try. The menu has so many interesting items that we decided to get three small plates to split between me and my husband. We started off with the Beet Hummus with thinly sliced carrots and other veggies plus grilled bread for dipping. Very tasty. Next was the Pimento Risotto. The pimento pepper flavor was just noticeable enough not to over power the cheesiness. Risotto is what I consider a comfort food and should be served piping hot. That was the only low point of the meal, risotto was only warm, not piping hot. And this was the reason I knocked off one star although I hesitated to do so. Next up was the Bbq Pork Tenderloin. Great charred flavor with just enough bbq flavor to blend well with the pork. Served along with the pork were pickled cabbage, cashews, and currants, providing a nice blend of tartness, crunch and sweetness. Lastly we unbuckled our belts and had Bread Pudding for dessert. The pudding was baked as an individual portion which created a wonderful crusty edge that contrasted nicely with the soft creamy interior. A caramel-y vanilla custard sauce was served with the pudding. Rave reviews by all were made for the dessert!! My only regret is that we live out of state and can't visit this restaurant more often. There are a few more items on the menu I would like to try.

Had dinner at the bar with my husband a couple weeks ago and loved it. Food and drinks are great, loved the small cafe atmosphere, and the bartender was extremely nice. We will certainly be back. We need more spots like this in KC!

I had the most delightful dining experience at Bjou French Restaurant in Kansas City. From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance exuded a charming, authentic French feel. The service was impeccable, and the staff was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. The culinary journey that followed was nothing short of extraordinary. Every dish was a masterpiece, from the perfectly seared foie gras to the exquisite coq au vin. The flavors were rich and nuanced, and the presentation was a work of art.The wine selection complemented the meal beautifully, and the dessert, a decadent crème brûlée, was the perfect conclusion to a fantastic evening. Bjou is a gem that deserves every bit of praise. I can't wait to return for another remarkable French culinary experience in the heart of Kansas City.

My Wife and I had dinner here as she had heard good things. When we arrived we were seated on a small table between the bar and other tables. It felt like we were eating on a busy train platform as both sides of the table were used by the staff to serve the other tables. It was so tight I got bumped by the staff. If you decide to go make sure you don't get the two tables by the bar!

Well this place is awesome. Great vibe, great service. Our food was excellent. Had the miso mushrooms, buratta was the best I've had in a long time. And the cheese plate could be a meal by itself. Would definitely recommend and will certainly go back.

Came here from a recent from a friend for a small plate venue. I can't tell you how pleased we were. We ordered several plates as well as the cheese board and we were delighted. We tried the risotto, shrimp, and one of the specials they had that night. The specialty cocktails were also quite yummy.

I had the most delightful dining experience at Bjou Restaurant in Kansas City. From the moment I stepped in, the ambiance exuded a charming, authentic quant bistro feel. The service was impeccable, and the staff was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, wines and specialty drinks. The culinary journey that followed was nothing short of extraordinary. Every dish was a masterpiece, from the perfectly seared Mediterranean Salmon to the exquisite Harissa Shrimp. This is a restaurant with decadent small plates that will make you want to take small bites to savor every last bit! And every person who works there is kind and warm - they make you feel special the whole night through. You wouldn't expect such a classy, elegant restaurant tucked away in this corner of Westport, but as soon as you walk in, you realize that you are someplace different, someplace special. The owner, Chad Alexander, has meticulously decorated the space with impeccable taste. Ask him about the rotating picture behind the bar, or about the many items that are from local vendors and artists. Everything from the cutlery to the plates to the furniture has a story behind it!Although there are a few entrees on the menu, the best way to enjoy Bijou is to sit and savor several small plates. For a table of two, I recommend 4 small plates (but I always say there is room for fries as well). Enjoy each small plate as slowly as you can. The atmosphere is really geared towards the enjoyment of the food and drink. So take advantage and consider each bite as if it was your first. If you are into cocktails, make sure to ask the bartenders for details on the drinks. They are very well-versed in their craft and take their work seriously. Some tips to make your visit extra special: - Ask the wait staff to course your meal so that each small plate stands by itself. That way you can have it nice and hot for as long as possible. - Enjoy your drink smoked. They have several different wood types that they can smoke your drink with. I had never seen a smoked gin drink before, for instance!- Book your reservation early and ask for the cozy table at the corner. It just helps make your experience that much nicer. - Make sure you order the bread pudding. It was the best I've ever had.Overall, this is a place to come when you want to have a lovely night out with your partner - maybe celebrate something special or just celebrate each other. Focus on the food and drink, and you will be happy you did!
