Insulted

The baked goods at Black Hole are among the best in KC but the customer service is appalling. when I arrived there this morning, the bakery was crowded and noisy, with customers forming a long line nearly to the door. When it was my turn to be served, I was greeted by an employee with a mustache and we exchanged preliminary niceties. Believing that we had finished the preliminaries, I started to place my order, apparently before the employee had finished his preliminary remarks, and was aggressively chastised by the employee for interrupting him. I apologized and explained that at 80 years old, my hearing was not what it used to be and that I had thought he was finished with his reply. Not accepting my apology or explanation, he continued to berate me - calling me (among other things) rude - and to tell me I should be embarrassed by my rudeness, all in front of a shop full of customers and employees. Had I intentionally cut off his response, that might have been true, but that was not the case here as I explained to him. Needless to say, I will not return to that establishment and advise prospective customers to pay close attention and to tread lightly when speaking to an employee. In this establishment, the customer is not always right.

Amazing little bakery with its own hole in the wall vibe. I have revisited this spot and continue to do so. Little side note, 10am isn’t early enough and they open at 8 lol early bird gets the worm and what not.

This was my first time visiting, and for sure won't be my last!I came early on a Saturday and there was a line. It's was moving fast and you can see all of the different pastry. I asked the person behind me their recommendations. They listed off many items and I was thinking of what to order. I came for the Mochi donuts that I heard about. When I got up to order I spoke to Brent and tool everything in. I was indecisive and apologized I'd I take a little bit. Brent told me that's alright this moment is our Blackhole and take your time.He gave me recommendations of the cinnamon roll, their mochi donuts, croissants. I had my nieces and sister over this morning so I got an assortment. We ordered Mochi Donuts they are changed monthy so don't miss out Lemon Poppyseed, Birthday Cake, Blackhole Chocolate, Starwberry & Rhubarb, and Pink Lemonade. They where chewy and delicious each bite was like a pillow.Crissoants always are a must-have. Everything, Blueberry, Biscuit & Gravy, and Ham and Gruyere. At this point I added a mixture of a Cinnamon Roll, Cosmic Brownie, Ube Cake, Fresh Fruit Puff, Apricot & Pistachio Puff, and a Tomato & Feta Puff.Thank you Brent and Rowan for all of your help and kindness. Everyone in my house loved them and asked where I went.

This comment is for those who aren't familiar with Mochi...the flavors are great, people are awesome but the "donut" is the consistency of uncooked biscuit dough. It's a fairly expensive product for such an unexpected texture.

Mochi balls are out of the world. The lemon was my favorite. We grabbed a few things to go to warm up at home and it was so tasty.

I'm not really a "review guy" lol, but Blackhole Bakery is one of my favorite places in KC. Consistently delicious and the guy who runs the place (I think?) is super friendly.

This bakery has my ❤️.. It's my all-time favorite. So good. Try it, and you will not be disappointed.Parking: Street parking, but they get busy, so call your order in. Park down the street and walk in. Their might be a wait, but the line goes fast. It's definitely worth the wait. I promise.

Blackhole Bakery has easily become my go-to bakery in the KC area! Every time I'm back in town I HAVE to stop here. Mochi donuts are a must. Make sure you get there early as they do sell out before their listed closing time.
