Simply one of the best meals we've had in Kansas City in a long time. Izabella sandwich, catfish, chicken fried steak, and The Best Chicken Salad Sandwich were ordered and were served fresh in very little time. Finished the meal with chocolate and pumpkin pie. We definitely will be back. Thank you for an excellent meal!

And we're back!! Angelica our waitress is wonderful!! Awesome customer service and she has a great memory. Was here a couple of months ago and she remembered us and what we ordered. The food is delicious. Our new go to spot when we're in town to watch the Kansas City football game. We ordered tomato soup,, spicy chicken sandwich, chicken fried steak, Gin blueberry lemonade and a Tank 7 beer . Food was so good, never disappointed. We will back back soon for the full chicken.

I absolutely love the fried chicken and potato wedges at Brookside Poultry! Ambiance is a little different in the new space, but this is still my go-to to satisfy a fried chicken craving. They have a gluten free option which is pretty awesome as well.

I've heard great things about the Brookside Poultry Company and was excited to check it out in person. I love to support local restaurants and especially this one in its new location. I had read about Chef Charles d'Ablaing and his signature chicken recipe. Its limited menu is southern inspired and packs lots of wow. BSC is located in the same block as the Plate Restaurant and shares the same parking garage. It features an open kitchen that literally is part of the dining room. You can watch the magic happen right by your table. The restaurant doesn't accept reservations currently, so you grab an open table when you arrive. Keep in mind they close at 9pm. Lena, our server, welcomed us warmly and guided us thru the menu. We started with Fried Green Tomatoes, Salted Pretzel Rolls and the Cheddar Biscuits. The creamed spinach and tomato chutney served with the tomatoes was spectacular. Everything was served quickly and very tasty. But the tomatoes were the best of the three. BSC serves spit roasted whole bird, Local Chicken and Local Duck. Unfortunately they were out of duck. We learned that you can call the restaurant in advance and they'll reserve a bird for you. The Local Chicken was a huge portion with super moist meat and a delicious skin. Certainly the best chicken I've had in Kansas City. They had several specials this evening, so we ordered the 12 oz Ribeye that was perfectly prepared. The House Fries are addictive. They are Yukon chunks that were soaked in salt water. The parmesan coating was unique and the insides had a consistency of mashed potatoes. For our next visit we'll order the duck in advance, the shrimp & grits and save room for some of their mouth-watering deserts. Make sure you bring your appetite. And the pricing is super affordable.

Delicious chicken and house fries, everyone is very nice and attentive and the new location is huge. We order dinner to go every few weeks and enjoy it. Dinner at the restaurant is always nice, clean and they do a good job keeping everyone distant to be safe. Excellent locally owned business!

If you are gluten free, GET YOURSELF HERE NOW. I had fresh fried chicken tenders in a restaurant for the first time in close to 10 years. Y'all. They were amazing. And the cheesy potatoes and green beans? Delicious. The drink menu is killer. The staff is incredible. This is just such a great spot. Get yourself to Brookside Poultry right now!

I thought I had had chicken before. Brookside Poultry is in a class by itself. Perhaps a "hole in the wall", it is staffed by some of the friendliest and most talented folks I have met in a long time. Everything from the drinks to the many kinds of chicken and sides to the desserts are incredible. Do yourself a favor and order the Chef's Board to get a selection of everything: salad, grits, chicken salad sandwich (which is truly amazing), friend chicken, potatoes (also amazing). And save room, if you can, for their incredible Brazilian chocolate pie. They offer dedicated GF options which are every bit as good as the gluten options. The only bad thing is that you will be ruined for other chicken places.

The service was excellent. The cheese grits with pork belly - as good as back home in South Carolina. The sour cream marinated fried chicken was delicious. The key lime pie, which I didn't need, was exceptional. My wife gave high praise to the pumpkin pie. The sparse atmosphere had a friendly and eclectic feel. I'll certainly go back.

My fried chicken was greasy and look like left over chicken then they fried again.no wonder they gave me one extra pc. I only ate half pc. Hardly see batter on the chicken too. Potatoes cheese seems like you only eating cheese instead potatoes Cat fish was ok but no taste No body can make these kind of food in KS city so far. I have to drive 25-30mins to come to this place. I miss Louisiana food I spent $21.00 to eat this kind of good Not worth it. Not including tip Next time better go Popeyes haha Less then $10 but good chicken

Just got takeout today for our group at BKS. Amazing staff and gave us so many dips with our order. Good stuff!

Love the concept of this place. You can tell that every menu item has a lot of thought out into it. I came here to try their spicy chicken sandwich. It was priced at $16 (!!!!!) and it came with fried potatoes. Right off the bat, my first impressions when I got my plate were "Holy moly, this looks AMAZING!!!" The potatoes looked perfectly crispy and the sandwich looked massive. As I started eating, I noticed that the potatoes were not crispy at all, despite the charring on them. In fact, they were all mushy and soft. The sandwich itself was a huge disappointment. The breaded chicken filet wasn't very spicy at all. It was actually rather bland and not fired well enough because the bottom breading kept crumbling apart like fresh flour. It did not help the flavor. The overkill of chipotle mayo seemed like it was trying to compensate for the filet and only made it worse. And then the blue cheese gave it this sour aftertaste that made me not want to finish it. I ended up eating only half of it before it started falling apart in my hands. In short, I should've ordered something else. Maybe next time I'll get just a piece of fried chicken, but judging by how they seasoned the filet on the sandwich, I doubt that I'll be back. If you charge someone $16 for a chicken sandwich and it doesn't even beat Wendy's, which is 1/3 of the price, then I'm probably not gonna recommend you. Sorry!

OMG!! Smacking! So glad we stopped here during our visit to Kansas, MO to watch the KC game. We will definitely be back in December. Ordered the Chicken Fried Steak which came with a cheesy bacon biscuit, mashed potatoes, and green beans with an Oktober Fest bear. Also ordered the Spicy Chicken Sandwich served with potatoes and their secret sauce (hella good) with a blueberry lemonade with Titos. Everything was cooked to perfection!! Wish we a spot like this in the Bay Area!! The Chicken fried steak isn't on the menu but they have it just ask for it. Angelica was our waitress and she was very helpful and provided excellent customer service!! We will totally be back!
