My wife and I ate here one night on our last stay in KC while staying at the Raphael, and it was amazing. I am not sure what we were expecting but our waitress was outstanding, I wish I could remember her name, and the food was top notch. We chose our waitress recommendations and she was so spot on! We wanted a romantic dinner, so we got a spot away from the bar that was nice and fairly quiet and we still were able to listen to live jazz in the background. We will be back!

The vibe was great. They had a two pc jazz band, the wait staff were knowledgeable and responsive. We are vegan and they were able to make menu modifications to our satisfaction. Also enjoyed the wine. Will be back!

Food was just ok for the price point. Order was wrong, one steak was over cooked by alot, yet, still a decent strip so there's atleast quality cuts there. One plate came without a side and waitress didn't seam to notice or care. But brought it as soon as it was mentioned. The atmosphere was actually nice, how ever its a more quiet place I feel compared to other places I've been, which I like. 3 stars for me

My friends and I decided to try this place out for restaurant week. We had a reservation for 6 people during lunch but one of us couldn't make it. There was hardly anyone in the restaurant so we were confused as to why it took 50 minutes for our food to come out. I ordered the club sandwich which came on burnt toast. It was so hard I could barely bite through it. Then we also received the St Louis style butter cake which also had a burnt-like crust on the top that was so hard, a fork couldn't even go through it. Then to top it off, we were still charged gratuity when we ended up with a party of 5. For a first time experience, this definitely was not it and was not worth the time. The stuffed dates were great though.

Live music was classy. The background music over the speakers was a little loud. Other than that great place.

Chaz on the Plaza is definitely a must try. The atmosphere, service and food were all great quality and is a wonderful experience for that special night, or just a high class evening.I'll preface this review with a couple of special notes.First, we attended our reservation at 6PM. While the restaraunt had patrons it certainly wasn't in full swing yet, so there was absolutely no wait for us when it came to practically anything. Definitely a great thing, but your milage may vary.Secondly, there was some concern about gluten free options, as these aren't labelled on the menu anywhere. I won't leave you in suspense here, Lacey, our server, was an absolute expert on this and was able to ensure that all of our needs here were met without any issue, offering options and modifications to the menu that we would have never guessed. More on that below. To start, this was out 20th anniversary and I"ve been looking for somewhere with some decent atmosphere in the area that really isn't just drinks at a lounge. Don't get me wrong, KC has some absolutely amazing lounges, but dinner at a space that can provide atmosphere, gluten free options (that aren't just salad and water), and food that is good can be a struggle. On top of that some places can get exhaustively loud.Chaz on the Plaza met us on every mark. The food, a "Duke" Wellington and a Pan Seared chicken, with the Cheese plate and Truffle Devilled Eggs for apps, were good. Some notes on dietary restrictions in the applicable sections. Cost here is definitely something to prepare for. At an easy average of $30-40+ per plate for a main and everything else around $10+ we saw a decent bill at the end of the night. That said, we certainly plan to enjoy a night there again. The atmosphere was nice. Quiet with live jazz played at a respectible volume that added to the ambiance without feeling like you had to yell over it. Noting that it was our anniversary in our reservation, the team went out of their way to add personal touches and honestly started the night off great.Food:Here's what you came for. Honest review, the food was good. I'd give it a 7 out of 10. While the food was good, I don't feel the flavors were bold enough in some cases. The Duke Wellington is not a classic beef wellington, but more of a "roast" than a steak. The Pan seared chicken was reported to be excellent. I will say that there are some combinations and flavors that were unexpected all around from the topping on the potatoes to the use of vinegars in the meals. Overall these were well recieved and added a different complexity that was well enjoyed. The cost, as noted above, does come in a bit on the higher end so be sure to review the menu before hand.Drinks:The Bar is clearly well stocked and proficient. Sampling the Hazy Hayden and the Apple Spiced Martini, I will say there was a clear favorite in the Hayden. A smoked whiskey cocktail, this drink tastes as good as it smells, and the theater with it is definitely enjoyable. The Apple spiced martini was good, but definitely a second to the Hayden. With drinks around $10 at the time of this review, the bar runs on average the same cost you'd find in most places.Overall a good time and we look forward to coming back!Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian options but you must request them from your server. There is no seperate menu.Dietary restrictions: GLUTEN-FREE/SENSITIVE:Chaz on the Plaza, and especially our server, did/does an amazing job on ensuring a great exerperience for those with dietary restrictions. Lacey, our server, was exceptionally knowledgable with gluten-sensitivity/celiacs needs and was able to guide us through the menu options that would be available, which honestly is most of the menu, thankfully. Many of the dishes that would normally have a gluten element have been adapted to allow for it to also be prepared without, like the cheesecake! Fantastic work here and honestly really were this establishement stood out for us the most.As of the time of this review, they

My favorite restaurant in KC! Live the atmosphere, good and service. This is what a restaurant ought to be. No big open rooms with lots of noise. Each booth and table are private. Dark rich

Everything was wonderful! The setting is intimate, warm and festive with live jazz. The mushroom appetizers (mushroom flight and mushroom toast) are the November specials and absolutely exquisite. Steaks were cooked to perfection. The Scottish Salmon and Pan Seared Scallops were delicious as well. The wine selection was great. And..the view from our table to the Plaza Lights was dreamy!

Food was amazing. The mole on the seabass and the chimichurri sauce on the steak were to die for. The customer service was also outstanding. It was our Anniversary dinner and they brought us a card, flower, and a free dessert.

Chaz was a great find within the Raphael Hotel. It has a speakeasy feeling to it, and the brunch dining (eggs benedict) was very good. We had drinks on the patio the night before as well which were also fantastic as was the friendliness and attentiveness of the wait staff. I am sometimes leary of hotel restaurants for assuming guests are captive, but the team at Chaz was very service-oriented and took good care of us.
