Unfortunately I was very disappointed in our recent visit. Our food was good except we got the courses out of order. Our server said that he made our drinks which were very good but when you make reservations on a holiday I would expect to have just a server focusing on our table there were times when we needed silverware, drink refills etc. seemed to forget about us. When dinner course came out it was good but we found hair in food, server said I can get you another one. When new one came out it was obviously cooked more than first one. It was obvious he just had new one made and didn't notify managers about hair, so the salmon we payed for was overcooked! We drank thirty dollar cocktails and over payed for amateur service and over cooked salmon that didn't need to be if server would have correctly notified chefs to cook the same just minus the hair! The Jax in Denver is excellent but I will probably never visit this one again!

Staff is always friendly and knowledgeable. Casual atmosphere. Great cocktails. Gin gimlet is perfect. Started with oysters on the half shell. Savage Blonde's we're so good. Branzino special was perfectly prepared with a caper/tomato sauce and crispy baby potatoes. After many visits my wife decided it was time to try the fish and chips and she wasn't disappointed. Tasty and filling. We drive from Lincoln, Ne pretty regularly and we always go to Jax for a great dinner/drink experience.

We enjoyed our waiter. The mussels were delicious. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the lobster roll. The desserts didn't seem to be great. Our tart was OK. The champagne was delicious and I wish I could get it closer to my home.

Celebrating our anniversary, this was our second time dining here as a couple. The food was great and our server was even better. The atmosphere was perfect and the food was prepared perfectly.

First time diners. We tried this place for our special Christmas dinner. Ellie was a sweet and lively server and made the experience nice. The food was good and the atmosphere was great.

Meh. Not bad. Not great. Mixed seafood appetizer was uninspiring for the price. Lobster rolls were tasty but small. Server was too informal and inattentive. Explains why the restaurant was over 1/2 empty on a night when everyone else was packed.

Unfortunately it wasn't the same experience we had after they first opened. The oysters were small. The waitress would disappear and our glasses would be empty. Main course was good but overall it was expensive for the experience

My first time in Kansas City and we decided to have dinner for my birthday (my wife and sister-in-law dinned in Jax before and gave very good feedback). I understand you must not receive fresh ingredients everyday but if you are going to serve that, don't even open the restaurant on Monday's. My tartare was just a big raw patty that didn't even look like a tartare or the picture in the website, calamari had absolutely no flavor, mahi mahi was flavorless and overcooked, tuna served inside a bowl of soy sauce. Everything tasted poorly executed and flavorless, I feel even worse because my mother in law paid anyway because it was a gift and we came with such high expectations, worst dinning experience ever specially for the price.

This is my husband's favorite restaurant in all of Kansas City! The last time we visited for a KC game, the city was locked down due to COVID. We stayed next door and were able to eat at Jax three times. My husband loved every meal. We just came home from Kansas City this weekend when we visited for the Chiefs vs Bills game. Go CHIEFS! We stayed near the library district and traveled by Uber three times to eat at Jax. We ate oysters on a half-shell. They are amazingly fresh, and you will not be disappointed. We returned for dinner the next night and had crab legs and fish and chips. AMAZING! At dinner, they let us know about the Brunch Menu. So, yet again, we traveled across the city by Uber to hit up Brunch before the big game. The brunch was INCREDIBLE, and most people would say we are crazy always to hit up the same spot in KC... but if every time you visit, the food is fantastic- then why not?! Thanks, JAX!

It was my friend's birthday and I flew from Philly to celebrate with him in KC. He chose Jax for his bday dinner. It was extremely disappointing and quite overpriced for the quality of food. We ordered a dozen oysters, 6 each of 2 different kinds. One selection was not tasty at all, and the other selection was quite delicious but the tiniest oysters we've ever seen. For $3.75 each they were not worth it at all. In addition we ordered a crab cake which was good, the lobster rolls which were filled with very little lobster meat on hot dog rolls and not what my friend expected, shrimp and grits and the shrimps tasted like they had been frozen and a very small portion for the cost. In the end I spent $200 and feel as though the meal was not at all on par for a meal of that price. Although the environment and service were good, we will not be returning to this establishment.

Jax is one of my favorite seafood places in KC. They have a diverse menu that changes with what's fresh and in season ingredient wise. Interesting cocktails, a great wine list and unique deserts. Things are priced according to their value not “just because”. Classy but not snobby. It's a refreshing vibe compared to some places in that exact part of town. Plus, they have a cool fish tank.

Very disappointing. Have dined there several times and enjoyed. Since last visit, quality of food has diminished. Hush puppies too heavy . My guest had tater tots - cold in middle. Lobster rolls were lacking in adequate amount of lobster. Salmon was just adequate in taste. Service fair. I hope the kitchen is able to pick it up again. If not, maybe they should just become an oyster bar. Thank you, former fan.

My husband and I always try to eat a meal at Jax when we are at the Plaza. The service was great- Shawn and Elijah met all our needs and wants. We took advantage of the All Night Happy Hour on Mondays. We enjoyed our meals of gumbo, shrimp, oysters and hush puppies. The Sangria was delicious as well.
