Slow service, food ok, places very small need of a good cleaning. The next week they were on the news on fire. Hope they reopen. All that, but cool spot like at an uncle's house and he cooking whatever you want. I will go back once they reopen.

They're always nice and accommodating. The food is okay but it's mainly the service that makes this place great. They now have a bar as well.

I ordered the Smothered Pork Chops with Greens, Yams and cornbread. Cornbread dressing and Hawaiian Rolls. I didn’t get the dressing, rolls nor cornbread delivered to me. The pork chops were tender and it stops there. There was NO TASTE! The greens were straight out the can with NO TASTE & the yams were descent. These maybe southern dishes but this is definitely not southern cooking!!! Southern dishes have flavor and you can tell the food was prepared by someone who actually enjoys cooking. I didn’t get any of that eating this food. It’s definitely nothing to brag about.

This place was an interesting find in KCMO. I had been hearing about it for a while and finally stopped in. I must say the food came so fast, I was shocked. I had the Baked Chicken and Dressing with Mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans. The Chicken was so juicy and tender, it fell off the bone. Like I said, i had been hearing about it and was glad to finally try it.

Fried Pork chops instead of the smothered I ordered. Mac and cheese was soup. Bones in the greens. So disappointed. I was so excited to try this place.

We came in early morning for breakfast. The atmosphere was very warm, welcoming, and you could feel the soul and heart here. Small dinner with big options! Food came out promptly, everyone was helping check tables, take orders, and keep the flow smooth.I had the veggie omelette with a biscuit for a lighter breakfast.I use this as an endearment, it's like a small town diner, but well worth every bit.

When I say amazing I do not live in KC but when I do visit it is a must to eat here ... food amazing ... quick service ... budget friendly and the service is awesome ... highly recommend for breakfast and dinner

Is it me or are the KC “soul food” restaurants all starting to buy from the same whole sale store? Everything tasted manufactured and out of a huge plastic bag. Nothing was authentic. No seasoning. That Mac & Cheese was too yellow and runny. Fish didn’t have any seasoning. Yams we’re tasty but it’s kinda hard to mess them up. It was like going to a Golden Corral during Black History month. Excellent service though!!

This spot is not good for anytime. I went there and the food was bland like chewing water. I had the chicken and dressing with collard greens cornbread and yams. The chicken was dry and the dressing taste like mush. The greens were flavorless and the yams were way too sweet. I don’t know how cornbread can be nasty but theirs was. Not like any hot water cornbread I ever had it was like eating cornmeal. I recommend that this place close because otherwise they are just taking money from people and the people get no satisfaction.

The shrimp Alfredo is so good u can taste the seasoning in the shrimp and the Alfredo I went with my father and he said the steak had seasoning all on it and u can taste every bite and it was juicy jus like he asked .

Ordered food to our hotel room. No utensils, no napkins, no butter, no syrup. It was clear that the order was to a hotel. We are left with cold pancakes, no salt and pepper, and dry toast and dirty hands. Total of $25 wasted on inedible food.

Tossed food in the trash?. They closed early due to the super bowl ( sure wish they would have turned us away). The pork chops were hard and dry and the gravy tasted spoiled. If they were not closed I would have definitely taken them back. Fish was undercooked. The service was good. I want my $16.20 back ? . It must have been a bad day since I've heard only good.

Cozy home like feel with great food! The baked chicken was hot & not dry. The collard greens & hotwater cornbread were fantastic! Went for breakfast the previous day and also had tasty fast food and great service. Would highly recommend finding this small place in a big city that has a hometown feel!

Absolutely NOT! Ordered a medium well steak. It's was not well AT ALL. The most blandest thing I tasted in my life. Wife ordered the smoked chicken wings. They were smoked but also bland. Does the cook know what Soul Food means? And who is allowing this food to be served with that title? Normally I would look at this type of review and think that's dramatic but I'll give it a try. LISTEN TO ME NOW BEFORE YOU SPEND YOUR MONEY. This place has NO flavor. And this King doesn't want that food on my table again....
