Excellent old school Steakhouse, where the basement with live music is a time capsul, in a good way. My 3 trips to the Majestic have all been delightful, but this last visit was highlighted by a very talented trio ( piano, drums and bass. The bass player would make Bootsy and Stanley proud!) that made for a very memorable dinner. Food and service is great but the music is lagniappe. Cheers.

We googled top rated steak in KC and had some solid choices but chose The Majestic. We were so excited. We had never been before, and steak sounded tasty. They sat us downstairs, which was cool because the band was playing. It was hard to hear the waitress. I ordered the two 4oz filet cooked medium with a side of brandy peppercorn sauce, grits, and carrots. He ordered 12 oz ribeye with fries and carrots. The salads came out and were good. I got the house salad with Vinaigrette, and he upgraded to the wedge. I asked for some bread because the table next to us had some. She said it cost extra. My date said no problem. Our food came out, and I cut into my steak easily but looked more like rare. I tried the grits and thought they were okay but could use something. The carrots and steak were cold. My bf steak and carrots were cold as well. He has never complained about food before but said I don't think I can eat this." I told our waitress that our food was cold. I asked If she could have them put our streaks back on grill. I stated mine could use to cook longer. I said, "Please don't microwave it." She smiled and took our plates. Then she brought us the 4 rolls. We ate the tops odd them because the bottom was hard. It came with two butters and something that tasted like cheap steak sauce. The food came back out, and my plate was hot. It look like they microwaved mine. It was tougher to cut. His plate was not hot. He took another bite of his steak, and it was still cold. I gave him 1 of my filets. When the waitress came back again and I told her about his steak. She did offer to make him a new one, but we said no thanked, and she took off⁸ check. We ordered the Creme Burlee, and that was delicious. My boyfriend was in the bathroom as we home, and within a couple hours, I was as well. We still tipped 30% of the original bill because our waitress took the steak off. The atmosphere has a cool vibe, and the music was loud but nice. They are some talented people who were all smiles.

This place is the definition of overrated and mediocre at best. Upon arriving the hostess couldn’t find my reservation even though I had multiple confirmation’s. She was very inhospitable beginning to end. She acted like she couldn’t get us in. It was my husband’s birthday dinner. The food was mediocre for paying 100+ per person. I have cooked better steak at my own house. Upon leaving the same hostess was hunched over her phone facing the back wall not even acknowledging customers. Again, the price you pay to eat here you would expect hospitality. I don’t recommend wasting your money here like I did.

Amazing experience coming here. Our waiter was fantastic, and the jazz trio was amazing! Steak was some of the best I've had, and the flourless chocolate torte was absolutely incredible. Highly recommend it!

You can always count on a stellar experience when you dine at the Majestic. It is pricey, but perfect for a special occasion. I sit in the downstairs jazz club whenever possible for an additional fun experience. The food is delicious and the wait staff is attentive but not intrusive.

We got the KC Strip, and it was average. However, the drinks and service were good.

We went to the Majestic for Super club. Sat at the bar for cocktails while we waited for our table. Our reservation ran late because we had to wait for the previous customers to finish. Wasn’t bad maybe 15-20 min. Got to sit downstairs and listen to the jazz band play while we ate. If you have the opportunity sit downstairs. We had multiple appetizers. My favorite was the wild mushrooms. Then everyone tried different entrees. I had the petite filet. Which by the time you eat everything else was more than enough food. Had leftovers. Recommend splitting meals. There wasn’t anything we tried that didn’t taste yummy. The majestic is a really old building and establishment. Noticed a leak in the ceiling when we were downstairs. Wasn’t anything crazy but feel like it should be fixed before opening for dinner. Honestly, those are little things. It is a Kansas City staple. I recommend that you go and enjoy.

Every time I have been here it has been a night of great food, service and cocktails. They have a great wine and spirits selection and a knowledgeable staff. I also love a place with a good history behind it and this place definitely does. In my opinion this is the best steak place in the city. Enjoy :)

I was so excited to eat dinner at this restaurant, had heard so many good reviews about it. So for starters my husband had the crab cake. He was completely unhappy with it and said it tasted as though it was frozen and microwaved. We both had the 12oz KC strip steak for our entree. I have never been so disappointed with a steak dinner. It was beyond chewy and lacked of flavor. We basically felt as though we were just eating a big piece of meat that was grilled. My husband and I have been to plenty of steakhouses. So we definitely know a good steak. This place by far was the worst. This was our first visit and we definitely won't be going back.

I have experienced the Majestic for over 20 years Each time being a top notch experience in both food and atmosphere...service is always impeccable... When ever I am in KC ...an evening at the Majestic is always scheduled....

The steak was very average in taste and the salmon was fishy. Food wise it’s not the best option, but the service and dessert made the whole experience worth it.

I really wanted to like this place. I think what just didn’t compare is the prices to the product. There is a certain allure they have with their set up but when the pianist is playing Randy Newman music you definitely feel less like you’re at and old timey jazz bar and more like you’re at a matinee showing of Toy Story. The filet was cooks perfectly, so that is the big plus. But there are some things here that just are not up to snuff:•Bread and butter costs $8?•A $20 crab cake was probably 4 bites worth•Creamed spinach is classified as a premium side with a $3.50 upcharge?•Service for us was impersonal, our busser was kinder and more attentive than our serverThe overall experience for the price just doesn’t compare to what you can get at other places where it feels like their food and service is their prize product. For more than $140 per person you can get much better value and experience.
