It’s hard to believe there’s negative reviews, our experience was so good! We just tried Ocean Prime and it was all around excellent! We eat out a LOT but live at the south end of Overland Park so we don’t frequent the Plaza often, but wanted to try something new for our anniversary. Our waiter, Ryan, and his sweet assistant, were very attentive and the food arrived well timed. I ordered the Blackened Snapper and it was incredibly delicious!! My husband ordered the Sea Bass and loved it. We both said we would 100% order those meals again. We also had wedge salads which were served super cold and were yummy. For dessert we were so nicely treated to a towering carrot cake with pineapple sauce which was very tasty! As we were dining, we were trying to think of other places we’ve eaten with equal level of service/food and it reminded of us the Goldrush Steakhouse at Madonna Inn. We will definitely return and thank you for such a great establishment!

I’m a seafood freak and was excited to try Ocean Prime in KC after going there for years in Las Vegas, but I didn’t have the best experience and I would not rate it in my top 5 for the plaza and downtown area unfortunately. The bar area is fairly small and super crowded for seating. Somewhat of a challenge to get timely drink service. It was incredibly loud and not sure what was up but the clientele was downright rude and pretentious which I didn’t comprehend.Several were going for the happy hour menu and I did have a glass of wine from that but ordered from the dinner menu. It was okay, good, but the result was not inspiring or cravable IMO.It’s what I would classify as a very expensive dining experience so also with that comes very high expectations. It didn’t jive for me in terms of price - value - service ratio.I’d like to go back for another shot but haven’t been motivated as of yet as some of my colleagues shared the same sentiment.

This was our first time coming here, it was my wife's birthday and we wanted to do something special and fancy. I was disappointed to say the least. The food was good but not great, which for the price, I expected to notch. For example, I had the risotto and it had a weird taste and was overdone which only made it worse. The waitress was nice and the atmosphere was nice but my biggest beef, and maybe I'm wrong here, but the waitress asked my wife if she wanted a birthday dessert. I'm used to this being on the house for this occasion for the birthday person and this is how it seemed to be presented. However, we were charged for it. For as highly overpriced it was for sub par food I would have expected better from a high end restaurant, that we choose to go to for this special occasion. There are plenty of other options with much better food.

Food and service were great! Aly was awesome and made sure we had everything we needed. My only complaint is that the tables were so close together and we could hear other peoples conversations. Other than that, the ambience is great, music isn't too loud and the staff are amazing!

The dining was an interesting experience. The environment was very classy. The servers were kind. However, the food was incredibly expensive, and not particularly worth the price. For instance, lobster mac & cheese side dish cost $50. It's the cost of most main entrées. Understandably, because it had lobster, but still the most expensive lobster mac & cheese we've ever ordered, and not particularly any different in taste. The receptionists at the onset of our arrival could benefit from actually smiling to the guests. There was two, and neither of them cared to greet us with any passion other than to just seat us. They gave us the impression that the restaurant was the last place they wanted to be. For a meal that cost close to $300 for just two people, a smile would have been a very inexpensive way to show some courtesy. Nevertheless, our servers were very kind, and helpful. The food was fine, but again, not necessarily worth it given it was incredibly expensive in cost. The dining room is beautiful, and the patrons were well-behaved. We probably wouldn't eat here again, unless we were prepared to spend an incredible amount of money. Anyway, it was a nice experience to have visited at least once.

I found the waiter Alanto be exceptional. The hostesses were haughty and that is being nice. The waiter gave excellent suggestions and even convinced my wife to try the Beet Salad which she loved. HIS support staff was the reason for the poor service. We were served our first course and had to find someone to give us flatware. At one point prior to that some unknown and not introduced person came by and took our bread plates. My wife's Ahi had no flavor. There were people nearby who had obviously been over served and were beyond loud. There also seems to be NO dress code. Is there not a place to go in KC to celebrate with some degree of decorum? I'm still looking. Alan provided a dessert for our anniversary and that was nice but I don't think I'll be back. I long for the days of the American Restaurant.

I Decided to try this place out for the first time on my Birthday! Hands down an amazing experience all around. Jeff and his team made my Birthday so wonderful and the food was mind blowing! If you haven't tried it you definitely should!

Overall the experience was exceptional. My only suggestion would be to ask for the wait staff to disclose the price of the specials if it is a considerable amount more than the normal menu pricing. One of the individuals in our party received sticker shock when his 'special' was almost 50% than the most expensive item on the menu.

Absolutely delicious dinner! All of the people in our party had different dishes. Hands down the Chilean sea bass and the sea scallops were our favorites. However, you can't miss with the grouper or twin lobster tails. Great place for a special dinner celebration.

Great Food. Loved the scallops, filet mignon, 14 oz steak, mashed potatoes, mushrooms, brussel sprouts, peanut butter chocolate desert along with carrot cake and beet salad. I prefer my creamy spinach side a little less like a dip and more like spinach.

We had the worst experience at Ocean Prime on Saturday. We were there to celebrate my husbands birthday and anything that could go wrong did. The waiter, while he was nice, spilled an entire glass of water on the table which wet the front of my dress. They did change the linen but I sat wet for hours. No ones enjoyed their food. The Sea Bass was extremely fishy tasting so I kindly requested a different dish. My husband steak which was supposed to be Medium Well was well done and very charred on outside. My friends steak was rare not medium. When the manager came over she was extremely rude and rolled her eyes while talking to us a making condescending comments. For the price and service, I will never go back. Not the best birthday experience for my husband. Lastly, we were all sick that night after the meal, which is an added layer of frustration. Again, we will not be returning!!

Jamison was a gracious and splendid server to have at our first dining experience at OP. Loved the music, beet salad, bone in filet, salmon and orchid cocktail. Highly recommend and we will be back.

The restaurant was great as was the staff. Got the 14oz strip and added lobster tail. The lobster tail was very small for 30 bucks and the steak was good but not great as far as flavor. 2 people with 2 sides and 1 drink was 300 bucks. Nice place but expensive for just average food in my opinion
