Great bar, i love the live music and the atmosphere within the bar. The food was delicious i recommend the chicken sandwich with season fries! Will definitely be coming back! Oh and the service was amazing! Thank you for a good first time experience!

It pains me to change my review. Businesses should be allowed to operate as they see fit but customers should be allowed to voice their opinion. Demanding someone show you their papers to enter your establishment is your prerogative. I'll be spending my $ elsewhere and that sucks because The Ship is one of my favorite bars in KC. The papers I am referring to were Covid-19 shot papers that you used to require.

I love all the staff, especially Kelli (I'm sorry if I spelled your name incorrectly)! The Breaded chicken Sammie and fried pickled are my fave. Also, the NA cocktails (my NA juice) are delish.

Walked in the back door off the huge rear flooded pothole parking lot as usual, but noticed there were tiny reserved signs on certain tables. We asked a server if we could sit at an empty table and she indicated that we should ask the host. Saw no host stand, but then a dude with an iPad wandered past us, ignored us half sitting/ half standing trying to get his attention. Followed him out to front door and he disappeared, still no obvious host stand, he walked past me twice without a word, finally walked back to the table and sat down. Server asks again if we've been 'seated, I apologize for coming in the back door, but there is never any parking out front, then we tell her the host hasn't even spoken to us despite our attemptsto get his attention and following him around. She flags him down, he listens and looks over to us and informs us that 'we are a hosted restaurant, " then disappears again. Server looks confused by this, then tracks him down and comes back with menues for us and we eat, eventually.It is obvious that The Ship is trying to be more restaurant than "bar with good food". But some signage would help guests understand this. In over 5 years of grabbing a sandwich here before going out, I have never entered through the front door and rarely is there parking in front anyway.
