We had a Baja chicken taco no dairy and a quesadilla. Total was less than $25.The service was wonderful and so helpful with my dietary restrictions. They cleaned the grill before cooking my chicken since there wasn't another cook surface. This is truly an American taco joint. The decor was patriotic taco..you'd have to see it. The music was 1980s. I loved it!Vegetarian options: They no longer have the plant based meat but will sub the beans for the protein in any taco.Dietary restrictions: They cleaned the grill before preparing my food for safety! They also altered the dish to dairy free.

Had Hawaiian taco with ahi tuna flavors didn’t work maybe the bacon in it or the tuna nuggets the rice mixture served with it was horrible taste and rice was mush. Husband had sriracha taco he ate the ahi tuna chunks and nothing else.

We used to eat here at least 2 times a week. The second location closed and they modified their menu. The quality for the price was just not good. We tried it again tonight for the first time in almost a year, it was even worse. 3 of the 5 meals we ordered were wrong. The shells now taste like cheap store bought shells. The amount of meat was almost nonexistent. Rice waz undercooked. Overall, tasteless and bland. Sincerely disappointed because this was our family's favorite spot for over 3 years.

We stopped in for dinner on a weeknight, the restaurant had a few other customers but not busy at all. Staff was friendly and helpful – service was a little slow. Queso is decent, mild salsa is SWEET - go with the rustic or mix the habanero with the rustic. Prices run about $10 a plate. We were all surprised it was for only one taco, rice, and beans. Portion size for the rice and beans is literally a spoonful of each. The taste of the food was decent although there were too many onions for my taste; there is potential for this to be a great place. What is keeping this place from booming are the small portions and all four at our table received food that was cold – almost as if it had been stored in the refrigerator and just served without reheating. Yet another Springfield eating establishment to cross off the list.

I live in Springfield and its really depressing to see this restaurant rated to high, when our town has so much better to offer. I understand the appeal of "white people taco night" and love to make our little home tacos with ground beef and a bag of kraft cheddar, etc. This restaurant is that but not quite as good and at a premium price. If you want to pay $6 for ground beef, lettuce, and cheese with no flavor be my guest, but know that's what you are in for.

This place was a negative 5. Shocked the owner is the same owner of Metro Grill that's always packed. The taco were terrible and very expensive for the ingredients and how big they were. I ordered the Plant based ground beef vegan taco and all they brought out was a taco shell with a LITTLE greens, beans and rice. No vegan meat. So I eat almost half and then I start thinking that I don't taste anything other than beans and rice and cheese. I asked the waiter and he said oh yah we are out of vegan beef ... ok that's fine but wouldn't you tell someone if they specifically ordered that and not just bring them out some random substitute??? Horrible service and food and I usually give good reviews but I had a gift card, that's why we went there. I would NEVER pay to eat here in the future. Wouldn't even eat it free. We felt totally sick after leaving. The attached pics are my taco and it was $6.99!!!

Found this place via Trip Advisor and the place looked okay with some outside seating. There was no wait on a Saturday later afternoon (which was great). Seat yourself. Although there were many tables cleaned off, I wanted to sit at a table that needed to be cleared/cleaned b/c there was a window and I would be able to keep an eye on our dog that was in the car. Decided to eat here based on Trip Advisor reviews. Seat yourself! I wanted to sit at a table that needed to be serviced since there was a window where I could keep an eye on our dog that was in the car. Waitress Genevieve was unbelievable. She said that's my job, and quickly cleared/cleaned the table and proceeded to serve us. The food was amazing and it was very clear Genevieve loved her job and the company. Definitely take time to stop in this veteran-owned establishment and ask for Genevieve.

Ok it's been years since we tried this place, and for good reason. I remember the first taco I got was just an average size taco, and it was $7!!! I was like "never again." Well the wife and I got a gift card so why not?... Firstly the menu is a bit tacky opening with the owner saying how he's ex military, and used his retirement money for culinary school. Well I am completely serious when I say this. He either didn't pass or they just give out diplomas for attendance. I am not kidding when I say I'd rather eat a cold day old soggy taco from Taco Bell than come here again!!! Maybe the popularity of Metro Grill has gone to his head, but American Taco is disgusting! The owner claims he is from New Mexico, but his food has absolutely no remnants of their signature dishes. I got a burrito that was $11 and barley bigger than a baked potato. The green chilis were canned, and the combination of his sweetened meat, horrible salsa, and cheese literally made the burrito taste like clabbered milk!!! My wife ordered tube vegan taco which they didn't even put the vegan beef on! When she asked they said they were out; why not say that when she ordered it?!!! Also it came with cheese pretty sure that's not vegan buddy... $7 for that "vegan taco" and it was a Taco Bell sized taco!!! On to my kids taco. Just chicken and cheese on a crunchy shell, and what were her sides? Fritos and an applesauce $7 please... Also got a shareable cheese dip that was about 1/2 a cup for $5 it was probably the best thing, but tasted like it was from a can. And got a "personal guacamole." Came in a dish that ranch would come in if you got it on the side. $3 for 3 bites.... NEVER EVER NEVER would I come here again or recommend this place. Mexican Villa is a 5 star restaurant compared to this place.

A must try for delicious tacos! They must have stayed frying the flour tortillas at some point because I don't remember them always being that way. They were good but didn't hold up too well and fell apart before you could eat your taco. I love their salsas and queso is great too!

Delicious! We had the Al Pastor street taco and the Shrimp street taco. The flavors were so amazing! Quite possibly the most delicious tacos we've ever had. They are served with beans and rice, each good as well, but the tacos are the star of the show. Even though it's only one taco, it was stuffed full. I couldn't have eaten more than one. Service was fast and friendly. You can also order a "Great American Taco" which is not a real taco, but is instead a $2 donation to a veteran's service organization. What a great way to help support our veterans! I would definitely eat here again.

Everything was so fresh and delicious and very reasonably priced. I had the pork taco on an avocado half and it was amazing!

So I used to love this place. But I ordered the taco salad today and it was comically small..like it used to be the whole container ??

I had the Americano cheese dip that had a thick layer on top like it was put in the bowl and left for a while then given out. The Jamaican j*** taco had the potential but just had no flavor except pineapples and all the food felt like warm which was strange because we didn't wait all that long, maybe they just had stuff premade and we where the ones that got the old stuff. This was the first time I came by and I won't go back. The waiter was awesome though. I really had high hopes since the restaurant was recommended by friends. Maybe it was just a tough night for the kitchen.

Stopped after a Costco run because of the Veteran Focus. Starters were sweet and spicy salsa, mild and queso. All excellent. I got the Carne Asada taco. It was amazing! Also bought were Havana shrimp. Soooo good, great service.

Been going here for years. Got the same thing for so long (buffalo chicken taco) then they removed it. I became a little salty towards that. Didn't eat there for a while. I have since started eating there again, forced to try new menu items, only to find out that they're all pretty amazing. Now a big fan of the Baja and Hawaiian tacos. Try the Hawaiian with the Tuna. You won't regret it. Their customer service has always been top notch.
