This restaurant is the best place I’ve ever been because of the amazing steak and elite peppercorn sauce. Also the service was great, the bartender was funny and made me a special cocktail, the waiters were kind and helpful (shout out to Michael, Meredith, Makesh, Vicky and Claudia ) for making our night amazing. As well as all this the chef even came out to check that we liked it.Kid-friendliness: Their waiters were nice to my kid

Chef Bryan is the real deal. He is deeply schooled in classical French technique and devoted to local sourcing and seasonal menus. Above all, Chef is humble and sincerely devoted to providing outstanding hospitality. Micheal behind the bar is a sort of sorcerer. His seasonal cocktails are inventive and expertly crafted.

There are a few things that are important to me at a restaurant. First, a delightful cocktail or a very nice glass of wine-Avenue does not disappoint. I love a white bordeaux or burgundy and they have it. Occasionally I will have a cocktail and Michael takes great pride in his cocktail list.Second, a consistent menu that I know that if I ordered it before and liked it, I will again. This time I had the flounder and it was delicious and the leftovers were so good!Third, great service. Their waitstaff is excellent-their people are sincerely nice and take pride in what they do. Love them! Some reviews mentioned price-all really good restaurants are not going to be cheap. In comparison to others in Clayton that are this caliber charge more than Avenue.Avenue is definitely one of our favorites!

Meredith was amazing. The food was absolutely delicious! Had the potato gnocchi and then braised brussel sprouts. You cannot go wrong with the flavor and the passion put in the food. Service is top notch! The menu is for those who have a more refined pallet for something other than a burger or

I LOVE this restaurant! From the staff to the food to the ambiance it checks all of the boxes! When you walk in, the staff is friendly and welcoming. Michael, the bartender, even remembered me and what I had to drink after just one visit. He is fun to banter with while sitting at the bar and he makes amazing cocktails. He regularly changes the cocktail menu and is always coming up with delicious concoctions. Don't worry though, if you have a favorite from a previous menu, he will be happy to make it for you. Trust me, you will have a hard time choosing from the selection which, can perhaps, lead to some over imbibing if you're not careful. There isn't a bad place to sit in the house. In winter months they keep it cozy and warm with a fireplace and when the weather gets warmer they have a lovely patio. The menu has plenty of choices to appeal to any palette. The food is always quite good. It is consistent, skillfully prepared and beautifully presented. Do yourself a favor and be sure to check out Avenue, before you know it, it might just be one of your favorite neighborhood haunts ;)

I went here for the first time on Saturday night with a couple of friends. I got there first, and as I walked in, I was greeted very warmly by the bartender. We sat outside under the awning since it was a beautiful night. Two of us got the steak frites medium rare, and one of us got the chicken thighs over pasta. The chicken thighs were gobbled up quickly. I didn't really see the dish, but she obviously enjoyed it. Both of our steaks were cooked exactly as we ordered them which was amazing because so many restaurants can't actually do that. The sauce the steak was on was absolutely delicious. The green beans were cooked perfectly and yummy. I didn't love the fries so I only ate a few, but the other two diners with me finished the ones on the other plate. We shared a piece of flourless chocolate cake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream (a surprisingly small scoop). It was good but not blow me away fantastic. Our waitress was great - very friendly and helpful. I don't remember her name, but she's a petite brunette who said she was a military brat. I'd go back. It was nice without being stuffy.

We were there during Clayton Restaurant week. Each of us had different specials. Everything was delicious and one was truly innovative. The desserts were extraordinary. I asked if it would be on the regular menu, and they said they would consider it. The chef is excellent. The courtyard was a beautiful place to eat. They were short handed, but just about everyone is these days

Have been here many many times and have never been disappointed. The boneless short ribs are amazing!! Recently had the sea bass and it was wonderful. So flavorful and very fresh. They have a bartender who not only makes great drinks but also creates his own cocktails which are fun to try. In my opinion, he makes the best Manhattan in STL. Service is always very good and it offers a relaxing atmosphere. My only complaint is with the price of the pea ravioli appetizer. It was so tasty but you only got 3 of them.

It was good. My taste palette is a bit diverse for this restaurant. My dish needed more seasoning and sauce. The broccoli did not have butter or any kind of seasoning and the rice tasted like the boxed uncle Ben’s rice. It just wasn’t for me & a bit on the pricey end for that kind of food.

We had reservations for a different restaurant in downtown Clayton on Friday night, and things were disastrous there, so we were extremely grateful to have walked only a block away and find Avenue Restaurant. We showed up around 8:30 pm and were worried that they wouldn't seat us given that their kitchen closed at 9 pm. Thankfully, they sat us right away outside on their lovely patio. Our servers were extremely attentive and brought us some bread and butter to start the meal which really helped since we were all getting hangry. They had a nice list of wines and cocktails, and we all enjoyed our drinks and our entrees. Some of the entrees seemed a little pricey, but all-in-all a great experience for a last minute dinner.
