The sushi here was okay, nothing too special but fine for midwest sushi. The crab rangoons had a really good amount of filling and would have appreciated a little bit more of a crunch! Our biggest complaint was the service. We walked in and waited for a while before realizing that there was a sign up sheet to be called. It would've been nice if the waiters made us aware of this as it was clear there was no separate host. We returned after we got a call saying it was our turn to be seated but then were standing for another 10 minutes before being approached by a waitress. At this point we asked to sit at the bar, hoping that we would get better service at the bar. This turned out to be true and we enjoyed our conversations with the bartender! We loved the atmosphere of this spot and it's a good spot for a casual date night in the loop. Lots of stickers around and loved the big Totoro mural on the wall :) Not sure that we'd return which is disappointing.

I have celiac disease which, in very watered down terms, is a gluten allergy. I was nervous coming in because as a celiac, trying new restaurants is really scary when you know you might get sick.if you ask, they're super accommodating! my waitress was super nice and super patient and happily found an old copy of an allergen menu for me. as you'd expect, there aren't a whole lot of options available when it comes to rolls; there's spicy tuna, the california roll, etc. HOWEVER, there's tons of options when it comes to sashimi and nigiri! the fish is fresh and melts in your mouth and, above all, the staff is friendly, diverse, and all have really cool tattoos lol. thanks for the good food! :)Dietary restrictions: They happily make accommodations for gluten allergies!

We love the sushi, ramen, and popcorn chicken. Service is always great and the waiters are typically cheerful. It's a chill vibe and lowkey. It's not too loud. It's a small place.

Blue Ocean is hands down my favorite sushi in St Louis. I love the fun vibe to their restaurant, colorful and cheeky. They have a unique beer/alcohol menu, a lot of offerings of authentic Japanese options. Their sushi menu is unlike a typical menu, they're pairings are very tasty. Slightly pricier than other spots but for reason. You wont leave hungry. Service is top notice.

The rolls were rly good but had sashimi that honestly did not taste good. The yellowtail and white tuna felt rly poor quality in the sashimi

Food and atmosphere were good, but it did take a long time to get food this time though. One of the few places to get Katsu Curry.

I would rather eat a bowl of top ramen than a $16 bowl of bad ramen with lots of fancy looking toppings. I got the pork broth ramen. The broth was under seasoned, even with generous additions of chili oil and soy sauce it just wasn't salty or flavorful enough to satisfy. The pork was over cooked and the noodles didn't really seem like the right kind of noodles for any ramen I've had before. The portion size was average, the service was good and the ambience was good. Wouldn't come again.

Great sushi, we were seated promptly, on a Saturday night as well, but it wasn't too busy. I'm definitely coming here again, the sushi was reasonably priced especially for the quality & taste.

When we walked in we were greeted by the bartender. Someone in my party said to the bartender “two please” to which he replied “cool,” and stared at us. We thought it was okay to go sit down but when we sat down it took 15 minutes before someone saw us. A waitress finally came over and asked if we’d been seated there. We explained what the bartender said and apologized but she was still extremely snarky and rude.I ordered the curry with tofu and when it finally came after a long wait I found it was extremely soupy and the rice was mixed into it completely. it was so boiling hot that I literally could not eat it for another 20 minutes. I was in tears trying to eat it because it burnt my mouth that bad. The other person I was with was able to finish their food before I could even start to eat mine. The tofu was okay though. When i brushed my teeth the next morning my tongue literally bled from being burnt. I tried to blow on the food before I ate it, but it didn’t help.Ive been reading these reviews and am dismayed to see whoever is replying to them is extremely rude and unprofessional, and do not take accountability for the issues people mention. This restaurant and the service used to be pretty good, but seems to have drowned in the ocean.

I normally don’t leave reviews but I feel that this outing made me want to speak. A group of my friends and I came out to Blue Ocean for a nice day to hang out. For starters when Corryn walked us to the table she seemed quite annoyed. Maybe because we were a party of 6? When we sat down it took about 20 mins for them to ask if we even had any questions about the food. Then it took them ANOTHER 15/20 mins to take our order. So now we are at about 35-40 mins of just simply trying to order. Again, Corryn had a very annoyed look/attitude while taking our orders. Once ordered it took our food about ANOTHER 30-45 mins to come out. To put it in perspective we arrived at the restaurant at 2:10pm and left at 4:10pm 2 hours…. I guess good things take time? Sure but a little more welcoming environment could have made the experience better. While the service and experience we had was not great at all, the food was good.
