First time here and there was one guy working but he was so fast, not to mention we came around 10am and there was a man ahead of us with a huge order. Food was hot and fresh and really filling. Only thing I didn't love was the German potato salad. Tasted like it had Italian dressing on it. Very generous with the meat on both sandwiches and the pastrami was the delicious kind with a little bit of fat. Perfect.

Classic deli. Delicious Ruben sandwich and generous portions. Joined a friend who worked there 50 years ago as a teen and, though under new ownership, nothing's changed. Still a great spot!

The parking is a bit tough so I parked one Street North otherwise there's parking meters on all sides of the street. This is a step back in time and pretty much a one-man operation although there's three people working. Plenty of meat on the sandwiches. The bread was very nice and fresh. The owner will chat with you when he has time. There was a constant flow of customers but the waiting was minimal. Outside seating is available when the weather cooperates. Prices are very good for the amount of food that you get.

Maybe the worst Yidd deli ive ever been in, in fact, it defied description! $21 per pound for the worst delapidated pastrami ive ever seen-- period. If this joint has seen better days there was little evidence of it. Wont be back.

Massive Pastrami and deli sandwiches from a no-frills neighborhood joint that has been on the corner since 1969. For the amount of meat they pile on (eyeballed) it's very reasonably priced. A few indoor tables and outdoor patio seating. They slice the meat to order, and tends to be a line, so don't go if you're in a rush. Also the pastrami can be a little fatty, but hey, that's pastrami. Order the corned beef, pepper beef, or roast beef if you like a leaner beef. You can see the cuts of meat you're about get in the deli case so make a call based on what looks good. They have many other delicious deli meats, sides, Billy goat chips, soups, whole or quartered dill pickles, banana peppers, Hanks carrot cake, and they can do catering/party subs with a minimum 2 days notice. The current owner started as an employee and took the reins in 2020. You'll be happy to support this small family run business, as Carl's Deli is an OG pastrami spot. An easy date is created by grabbing a couple sandwiches to-go and picnicking in Forest Park.
