The food is always good. With the remodel I wish they would have implemented their order taker entering the order into whatever system/application, instead of you telling them and they try to remember and then they ask you again. Then when you move to the other end of the counter you have to repeat your order again at least twice, all while trying to have these conversations in a busy and loud room. Regarding the remodel, the dining portion of the room got smaller. Three booths were added that are a tight fit. Only a few two person tables. I don't think the space given up was necessary for their "grab and go" refrigerator.

I was skeptical coming here for a while. I would always frequent the Westport location before they closed so driving to Ladue was a bit out of the way and a bit upscale for some coffee and pastries but these aren’t just any pastries are they? I find myself going 5-7 miles out of the way JUST to get a bowl of oatmeal from here 2-3 days out of the week and I don’t regret it one bit. I’m going to have to learn how to perfect my own oatmeal but until then I will happily splurge on theirs (I get brown sugar, pecans, and craisins on mine) and get the occasional piece of deep dish gooey butter cake for my daughter and I to snack on all week or the soup when a flavor catches my eye.I’ve not had a bad item off the menu yet and don’t imagine I ever will. Love the new updates too.

The egg and walnut pesto crossiant sandwich was spectacular. Have been dreaming about it for 2 weeks. Wish the location was larger but very happy it's back open. YUM.

The salad had way too much Parmesan on it. I was struggling to find the lettuce in the sea of Parmesan cheese they provided us.

Super crowded; not very clear how to order and staff is distracted and not very attentive. Food is awful. Coffee was cold , when I ordered a hot drink .

Tucked away in a charming strip mall in Ladue is the OG St. Louis soup and sandwich place. There is no way this popular lunch spot is going to get anything other than 5 stars! Their lunch selections will blow you away. And you can get a combo - 1/2 sandwich, 1/2 salad or soup - choice of 2 - so you don't have to choose. They always have a wonderful selection of soups - vegan options; a few old standards and something unexpected. Today, I selected Mexican Corn Soup and it was delicious - one of the few times I've had a corn soup that was chock full of corn and also tasted like bacon. So good! Your sandwich and salad choice is not going to be so easy. There are so many options! I love their chicken salad and I always go back to it. It's just something simple, really well done. I sub sourdough bread because their sourdough is literally the best. Today, I paired it with the harvest salad, which was a great choice! If you're like me, and you hate digging around to find the toppings on your bed of lettuce, you need to go to Companion! Because the salads are plentiful and toppings are abundant. And we're not even going to discuss the treats at the end of the counter - just save a few calories for a giant cookie or bar. Thank me later. The cafe is a bit small for the large crowd they always seem to draw but in the warmer months, there is a small outside seating area. Go go go. Find your new favorites!

1. Lot is difficult. Narrow parking spots, narrow paths, not enough spots.2. Room is packed. You are sitting almost on top of the next patron. During anything close to a busy time, there are no seats available. You will be waiting for someone to leave. Also, no way you will find seating for more that 2.3. Food was pre-made. The sandwich I wanted was pulled out of the fridge already packaged in plastic wrap. What sandwich maker does that? And the sandwich was MEH at best. Small. Over-priced.4. Service is quick to be done with you. I ordered a coffee. Once I paid and the coffee was started, no one gave me any attention. I watched my coffee sit there for five minutes while other guests were checked out. An employee only asked about it when another coffee was ordered.5. The bagel I ordered (asiago) was as pale as the cream cheese I ordered. It is as of they never baked it. Isn't the store called Companion BAKERY?Parking: Narrow spots. Narrow lane. Just no good.Kid-friendliness: Very few kid options. No room to sit with kids, especially if you need a high chair.

The food's really good. People working there are cool. The Yuppie Boomers/Zoomers that frequent the place aren't my cup of tea but it's worth it to enjoy the chorizo n eggs. The soups are AMAZING!! Beef Barley, chili...yum.

This place has gone from average/below average to being absolutely awful. While the food is certainly not great, the main issue for us is with the service. The way the staff rushes you to make a decision, the rudeness from the worker at the register and most of all, the feeling of being uncomfortable/not welcome are some of the things that stood out to me. Also, the food is about a 4/10, which I've gotten agreement on from multiple (long-time) customers. Companion, Ladue is the perfect example of becoming complacent simply because they feel they have a small portion of the market cornered. I hope the owner notices a trend in the negative reviews. She is miserable to make eye contact with and has zero respect for her customer audience.Vegetarian options: Soups

RUDE STAFF I have been to this location more than a handful of times. The staff is rude, will run you out of the restaurant and sweep at your feet to be able to leave right at the minute of closing, register worker is mean and doesn’t listen to requests when I said I had an allergy. Won’t be coming back again - have given too many chances.

Came here on a Saturday for lunch, the place was quite crowded, very popular it seems. They had the ordering system down though and we got through the line pretty quickly. Seating is limited, but they have some spots outside as well. Food was all very very good! We got the companion Lotto duos (half sandwich, half salad/soup). I highly recommend trying the Fowl Weather sandwich - the pepper jelly is so tasty! The roasted peach salad and the green chili potato chowder were also excellently flavored and spiced. Think of this place as a local, better quality St Louis Bread Co ?

I recently visited a bustling cafe Companion and indulged in their delightful offerings. The raspberry scone was a treat, perfectly balanced with a hint of sweetness and a crumbly texture. The tea selection was extensive and complemented my meal beautifully. The avocado toast, topped with a fresh salad, was a refreshing twist on a classic dish. Although I was initially disappointed by the lack of a charger at my table, the overall ambiance and quality of the food made for an enjoyable experience.
