Crazy awesome and fairly secretive spot - a former German restaurant turned Mexican restaurant turned 70's wood paneled rec room with some of the wildest experimental music shows in town. If they are serving food the street tacos are great but the Al Pastor burrito is a true hidden gem in St. Louis. Don't miss out on this spot when its open for its limited hours!

Looks Mexican from the outside, German from the inside, and is a great place to drink a Stag and see something weird.

Gerald Lloyd

Good place for punk shows. Cheap beer.

Small venue. Always same bartender. Honestly I wonder how they stay in business. The local shows here are small and intimate. Many local artist have floated here. Cool spot. Will probably visit again.

Stopped by here today to see "A Raisin in the Sun" which was performed in a big room off the bar. Play was excellent , as were the drinks being served at the bar. Staff was super friendly as well.

Dude. How does one capture the vibe of this grungy Brooklyn-esque 70's sanctuary? Can it be done? **Warning this place is not for everyone.** Saint Louis' hipster mecca meets the smell of 50 year old carpet wallpaper. Think 40+ years of smoking indoors...In a good way. The night was one for the books. Full of bottom shelf tequila shots and a human centipede? To give an idea of the type of things that go on at this venue: a band called Butthole played. I loved them and their sound was just right. Leñador should just contract them to play there permanently, let's just say they fit mold. Their show was preceeded by two drag king's performances and a tight rope walker. (??!) In conclusion, this evening definitely made top 3 in the most random nights in my life series. If this weren't enough, El Leñador is Spanish for "The Lumberjack," which may leave you just as confused as it left me. The young at heart bartenders seemed to have a really difficult time using Square (yes, the credit card processing software- it was surprising they were using this to begin with because of how outdated everything else was). I just didn't care tho, cause my G & T was good enough to forgive any grievance. I'm not sure what to say about it all other than I'm pretty sure I absolutely loved it. 5 starts for a place where quirky, queer, millennials can do their thing. This place is rad as hell. Pun intended.
