Food was great. Service was great. The bench pads could use replacing, and the front door and entryway seemed to be in a state of disrepair. But I'll be coming back for sure

Has all the charm of a NYC subway circa 1979.The ambiance is similar to a Days Inn bathroom. Very brightly lit, perfect for drafting architectural plans or working on tying flies. The normal clientele evaporated and it's like eating at a work camp during odd hours. This is about the cheapest, lowest standard food you can get. I don't call it a restaurant, more like a "lower-your-expectations-a-raunt".

We were seated immediately. There was one full table and another outside. We waited about 30 minutes for drinks. I ordered taco salad. It was so soggy with grease. The shell was not crunchy. The waitress was rude and didn’t check on us once. The restroom was disgusting and there was something sticky on the floor. Would never recommend this location. The El Maguey in Ballwin is so much nicer and better quality.Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible

The workhorse Mexican of St. Louis. Always consistent, always reliable, best service anywhere. Love these guys.
Martin and his crew are just exceptional! Been going there for over 20 years since moving to Affton. The food is always fresh and tasty and your drink glass is always full. Your servers are always friendly and attentive. Give them a try, you won't be sorry. Always a good time with great atmosphere!
Here's the thing with Mexican restaurants nowadays. Every one on this great green planet is doing less and less meat, cheese, and tequila. Saving money or something like that. Let me tell ya, El Maguey... going AGAINST the current. They're doing MORE meat. MORE tequila. MORE cheese. And the service is fast as can be. Whether you want a 2 hour dinner with the in laws, or a quick thirty minute lunch break, this is the place to go. MORE! MORE! MORE! This establishment will have you feeling better than if your team won the Super Bowl, baby! #yelped

Probably the worst Mexican food I've had in years. I got the Birria tacos, and they were dry, and had bo sauce. Everything was bland dry, and stale tasting. Server was okay.

Love coming here because it's so close to home. Came in for a quick bite after church. I ordered the number 29 which was a Chicken Quesadilla and Chile Relleno with rice. This is one of my go to orders here it is always good and hits the spot. Their chips and salsa is usually pretty good as well. The Chile Relleno packed with cheese and delicious sauce on top. The chicken quesadilla has nice tender white meat chicken inside with gooey cheese. My husband's go to is the Burrito Bandera. If you cannot decide which type of burrito you want, order this one it has a little bit of everything. Service is always wonderful here. They really work hard to get you served quickly.

Great and unassuming Mexican fare served by friendly staff. Price is pretty cheap and quality has not been a problem in the over 20 years I've been coming here. Order the Fajitas El Volcan for a change!Update: Same great place and redecorated as well. Same great food and while the price on fajitas has risen(COVID supply chain issues) the quality has not diminished one bit!Update: Even though a new competitor has opened close by, the new guy is getting bad reviews on their service and food quality. No one unseats El Maguey!!!
