A very dissspointing meal. We checked the menu online before making the reservation and many of the items were not available ... very disappointing We hate reading a menu on an iPad! I ordered a medium rare hamburger and it was awful and overcooked like a hockey puck

We really enjoyed our dinner at Seven during Clayton Restaurant Week. The Brussel sprouts appetizer was delicious and the Steak Frites were tender and tasty. Sara took great care of us.

Came in around 9ish looking for a late night snack. Ordered Chicken Tortilla Soup, Spanikopita, and chcolaye lava cake. Asked for the dessert after the other food. Waitress came back and said they were out of the soup so we ordered another Spanikopita (sign stated $8 - come to find out that is the Happy Hour Price) got our bill and the clearly frozen appitizer was $16 a plate. From where we were sitting you couldn't tell from the sign that it was the happy hour price. In addition the lava cake with ice cream came out at the same time and again was clearly not made from scratch. Waitress did reverse the charge of one appetizer bringing it to the price we thought but this restaurant has been mostly empty every time we've passed it from the lobby and the food was not worth the price at all especially considering we had a much higher quality meal for dinner for just $20 more inclusing two apps, side salads, two entrees, and two desserts earlier today. Disappointing and clearly could be done better.

Unfortunately it was a horrible experience. We went to dinner and no one sat us down at our table for about 15 minutes and when we sat down we didn't get any service for another 30 minutes. It was New Year's Eve and they ran out of steak at 7:30pm. I will not be coming back here and I do not recommend. They were not prepared at all.

We got a reservation for this restaurant multiple hours before NYE night. We got there, didn't get any service, waited almost an hour for just a drink and then they ran out of steak as well. If you cannot support a NYE night then you should not be open--- we basically got screwed out of our NYE dinner b/c the restaurant was not prepared whatsoever. Either shut down or don't take reservations.

We arrived and no one knew about our reservation. Were sat and then no one approached us for 20 minutes. Ordered drinks and never got them. Ordered filets were given sirloins with no sides and the bill came after they “adjusted” it for us there was still a drink on there we never got and charged full price even though we received the wrong steaks. Awful.

We never received the drinks were still charged for one. Our filets came with 2 sides and we never got them. It also was sirloins. We then waited an extra 26 minutes to leave and still paid for all the items we never received.

Hugely disappointing. Very difficult to find an online menu in advance so we went into the reservation semi blind, thinking the food and ambience would match the quality and elegance of the Seven Gables itself. When we arrived, the restaurant was completely empty with one person seemingly running the bar, the restaurant and the kitchen. Not a peep from the kitchen. The bartender handed us an “interactive” menu via iPad - where prices were hidden behind hyperlinks. Prices were outrageously high and the images of the meals looked even less appetizing than the already uninspired descriptions. We bolted. Whole place needs a reboot.

I'm trying to give 3 stars, but I can't even. Supposed to be somewhat luxurious. They (you guys) need to try harder! Everywhere! - 1 lady at breakfast and everything out both mornings. Coffee, eggs, just put more food out. The lady making omelets was giving the A effort but not enough staff. - room clean. Never replaced coffee, creamer, water- I guess my wife told me sheets are only washed every 3rd day- garbages not emptied while staff sitting around. We all work as a team for cleanliness. Make yourselves busy- the final straw. Cold and home after a long day. Saturday 1010 pm bar closed. Called down and "sorry short staffed closed early". That's how you get closed for good in hospitality.

We were hoping to dine on the back patio, because it was a beautiful night. However, there was a private event - and there was no way of knowing that on Open Table. We were seated outside in the front of the restaurant - which was nice - but not quite the same ambiance as the beautiful patio. Our waiter was in training, which was fine. The food was hot and delicious. We finished the evening inside at the bar - where we met some interesting people visiting from California and Utah. All in all, it was a nice evening and we will definitely return.

The staff at both the restaurant and the hotel were excellent. I was a very busy weekend as the St. Louis Art Fair was happening right in front of the hotel. I know they were all working long hours however, that was not going to stop them from making a wonderful experience. The weather was perfect so we chose to sit outside in the atrium - we could have been anywhere in the world with the charm.

We sat in outdoor patio, great ambiance! We had to look for a staff person to seat us when we walked in. After receiving our food we asked for salt and pepper and it was quite a while before she came back with the item. This was a Wednesday night and I wondered if they might have been understaffed. The food was very good and we would definitely go back.

Lovely European style hotel in the heart of Clayton - walk to restaurants and stroll in nearby neighborhoods. On the National register of historic places, so the hotel exudes charm, while rooms have all been updated. Service is the best - I was greeted by a friendly face every time I entered. Breakfast is really convenient and delish with lots of choices. Seven Gables has been my go-to hotel in St Louis for iver 25 years and it just keeps getting better.

If you’re after a cozy boutique experience in Clayton, a suburb of St Louis this is the hotel to try. Easy parking but if you need a valet they offer this service. We were greeted at the door by Jason Winkelmann the General Manager, who made us feel as if he was welcoming us to his home. He even recommended certain menu items at the on site restaurant, Seven. Our room was lovely and spacious with plenty of storage. Too bad we were only there one night. Prior to dinner we had drinks in the lively bar off the lobby. Then off to dinner in a sweet courtyard. It reminded us of Europe. The food was exceptional. My husband enjoyed an excellent Chicken Pot Pie while I had Osso Bucco. Every interaction we had with employees was professional and approachable. A true jewel in Clayton!

It was freezing cold. The food was not good - cheap ingredients - at least the cheese on my omelet was like melted cheese whiz. Very disappointed because I remember how good this restaurant was years back.
