Beautiful Love

Food was too salty. I didn't enjoy it & had to pitch it. The staff was VERY friendly. I would definitely try again in the future.

Food good but soup was put Styrofoam tray.. not in bowl with cover to go. Soup leaking in bag before we left and told them so. They didn't care. They got the money for the overpriced soup.

Came for the tacos during Taco Week. Duck taco was excellent as well as the Portobello taco, & Spicy Chorizo. Empanadas were average. Worth coming back.

We've been coming to Soulard Farmers Market for 20 years. Lots of great vendors. However there are fewer local farmers than ever. I'm sure the pandemic has cut reduce the number of people making it harder for a small farmer to make a profit. The ones that were present on our minds st recent trips have wonderful fresh produce. Juicy ripe tomatoes, corn, peppers and the fall produce is starting to appear. Other sellers have bulk produce. But advertising farm fresh asparagus in Missouri in September is disingenuous. The bakery goods are really worth buying as is most of the meat sold here. Soulard Spice is a mainstay with a wide self spices, coffee, tea and other items. There are a number of sellers with craft and herbal products. In short it's still well worth your time to shop here. I hope the pandemic impact will diminish and we see more local farmers again in the future.

I happened on to Soulard Farmers Market in Saint Louis COMPLETELY BY ACCIDENT - and wow what's a find!!! This is exactly why I advocate for building down time into a travel schedule, and being flexible & "rolling with it," so that when you discover something really super cool you'll have the bandwidth to take it in! I discovered the Soulard Market while in the neighborhood to visit "Pieces..." a Saint Louis restaurant that boasts over 1000 baked games available for patrons! Whether alone, in a group, or as a couple (actually would be a GREAT first - or later - date place - something to do if the conversation is nervous you know - and if the market is going across the street a good place to stroll, look at stuff & talk!). But now a little helpful history: this is one of the oldest farmers markets in North America and going back over 240 years to a open air farm market that started in 1779! WOW that's almost a quarter of a millennium- a REALLY long long time! The current location dates to 1838 and the selling hall we see today was constructed almost 100 years ago. Just think of all the tomatoes, sugar cane, farmers, shoppers, families & romances that have developed in this iconic place - really brings it to vivid life when you think about it!!! So what do you see when you go inside Soulard Market? Vendors & merchants of all kinds, selling not just an extremely wide variety of the freshest of produce, but other sorts of items as well and at incredibly affordable prices. It is no wonder to me on reflection that Saint Louis has some fantastic restaurants with all this readily available bounty. It has a fantastically old familiar feel to it, almost like you've stepped into another era. And the smells, the smells - so fresh and aromatic. I selected some fresh bread to take back home to Ohio from the stall run by Mauki's Store. I was given a dining menu by the man operating their stall, but sadly I didn't have enough free time to visit their restaurant while in town. I will be making a return trip sometime, hopefully soon, to Saint Louis - I fully intend to follow up on this discovery for brunch. Their bread travelled quite well and was amazingly flavorful - I ate the last piece this morning YUM!!! - if the rest of their restaurant offerings are half as good I'll bet Mauki's is probably a real winner! My vote is firmly two thumbs up for a visit to Soulard Farmers Market. Even if you buy nothing, it's definitely worth taking a stroll through an icon of American history & thinking about all the people who came through those great big doors before you.

I came here years ago with a friend, and I was looking for a certain type of jerky. I think that meat place has changed ownership or downgraded because of pandemic. Anyway, we went here recently and it was incredibly crowded with not everyone wearing masks even though there are signs posted. There just wasn't much of a variety and it didn't seem super clean or hygienic. Parking is a bit of a mess too. One machine was broken for if you park along the street. And the rest of the machines were only for the lot. I had to help several people use the machines. There's no staff out there anywhere to help these people. It just felt dirty and cramped and hot with a lot of low quality stalls.

Spicy but delicious tacos! We ordered to go and it only took a few minutes! The tacos were great and the service was friendly.

Really cool farmers market. Wish we lived in this area because we would do most grocery shopping here. Lots to smell, taste, see, and feel here. We will definitely be back next time we are in St. Louis.

My last review seems to have been randomly deleted by Yelp as happens occasionally. I am not a big fan of the Soulard Farmer's Market. If you don't have nostalgic feelings about going there then I don't think you'll find much to write home about. If you have a look at quite a few of the reviews here they start off with "I remember I used to come here as a kid with my grandma". It's a glorified farmer's market with not much going for it besides the usual. The only huge difference between this and any other farmer's market is the inside which has a good bakery, a good spice store, and a nice meat store. That's basically it. The rest is filled with ten stalls of exactly the same fruits and vegetables at pretty much the exact same price, some incense, hats, and homemade soap. I'm simplifying things but not over exaggerating. I have to admit that some of the fruits and vegetables are at a good price. If you have an extra twenty minutes and you have nothing to do by all means come and look at a stall selling rugs, but I wouldn't say make a special trip. This, really, is just for a trip down memory lane.

I tried their cherry, cucumber and lemon juice today at the Soulard Farmers market today and it was the most refreshing drink. It was absolutely perfect for this hot summer day. Definitely check it out if you are at Soulard! I even got to taste a sample before committing which was nice and the bottled version tasted even better than the sample since it wasn't watered down from the ice. I plan on getting it again very soon! It's the perfect summer day drink!

Soulard seems pretty quiet on a weekday afternoon. I wandered around. It was not too crowded. There was only one fruit and vegetable stand open. There are some very nice restaurant spots and coffee and spice shops that seem very popular. It's a very nostalgic place. I tried Cajun food and it was so good. I got an all beef hotdog and a small side of Jambalaya, which was so meaty and flavorful. Parking is paid via the Park Mobile app just outside and is ample. It's a pretty cool spot on the center of downtown.

We found Vegan Natured inside Soulard Market today… I wish I would’ve bought everything on the menu! It’s so good! It tastes like true love… I had these dishes for like 30 minutes & it was still piping hot! If you like vegan soul food that is hot—go here… it’s so hearty & seasoned so well… sweet & spicy… no fake meats or processed foods… Thank you for hitting my spot today!

Oh I'm so surprised. Looking at pictures, this place looks okay but the amount of variety in this farmers market is fantastic. Came on a weekend and it was quite crowded, unfortunately not everyone was wearing a mask, but still had a great experience. Here are some of my favorite things: - Shop owners are so nice and are so willing to let you try things. Yes they still give free samples which is not the most sanitary thing in the world, but there's that if you are interested. - The variety here is amazing. Even within vegetable stands there are so many different kind. There's also a beignet shop, soap shops, jewelry shops, etc. just to name a few. - The farmers market is actually quite long which is really nice and you could spend a solid 30-45 minutes here if you would like. - Best people watching place! Overall, so surprised by this farmers market and looking forwards to coming back soon! Not bad St Louis, not bad :)

This market is large with lots of vendors, food as well as other merchandise. The produce are fresh and good quality and reasonably priced. Some vendors have huge bags of salad (primary iceberg and romaine mix) for $1. That was the deal of the day! Things I saw: fruits, vegetables, meat, jerky, plants, brown eggs, wood, chickens, chocolates, bakery, spices store, tea and coffee store, coffee shop, gourmet cookies, vegan stand, popcorn, smoothies, clothes, baskets, essential oils, mini donuts, jewelry, clothes, beer vendor (no boob money accepted), pasta, and hot food vendors. I was a little sad that the beignet stand was closed the day I happened to visit. .|\---/| | o_o | .\_^_/..2021
