Excellent fresh Mexican food. Fresh ingredients with generous portions of the ingredients, speaking especially of the amount of the meats in the tacos. A definite stand out compared to other similar priced Mexican restaurants.

Stuck between whether to give this spot three or four stars I wondered if I'd recommend Abelardo's to a friend, Considering there are other full service Mexican places and a Taco Bell nearby, probably not. This fast food Mexican eatery has a large and varied menu. It's authentic fare so don't expect a burger. With two combination entrees and a tea at $30 for lunch, it's a tad above fast food pricing. After placing our counter order, our enchilada and taco meals with rice and beans came up quickly. Chips were delivered at the table. A variety of sauces were available. All good until we dipped into our food. Nothing...sparkled. My companion and I both agreed the food wasn't bad, but it just wasn't enticing either. The steak in the tacos was overcooked, rice and beans were bland. Fiery hot sauce and regular red salsa had about the same heat--not much. A roasted sauce had little taste at all. Greasy chips had no seasoning and left a pool of oil in the bottom of the basket. The former Burger King has been remodeled nicely and is light and comfortable. The drive-thru is an option for to-go orders.

Highly recommend!! Extensive menu with a stacked salsa bar and all the drinks you can find in a California Mexican spot- Horchata, Jamaica, etc. Large portions, fresh food and fast! You order at the front and they bring it out to you. Tons of booth and table options. They also have a drive thru. Prices are more than fair. I had chicken fajitas and chips and guac. My brother had a chicken torta and both were fantastic. Highly recommend the cheesecake chimichanga and raspberry churros. Everything is amazing and the people are super nice! Great spot!!
If you're seeking genuine Mexican flavors, this establishment falls short. It's more like a fast-food Mexican restaurant fusion experiment that went awry-- think Burger King trying its hand at Mexican cuisine. The pork "adobada" lacked flavor and the guacamole was disappointing, resembling runny goop rather than the real deal. Paying $14 for an entree of such quality feels unjustified. Additionally, the ambiance was marred by a bullet hole in the window next to where I was seated. I'm too scared to ever come back!

They have these all over the Midwest. I was born and raised in Southern California, and I would put this up against anything you could find at some hole in the wall in the barrio. I drove out of my way to to come here

Catering. Definitely lots of bang for the buck! Call ahead and confirm, catering is still newish to the St Peter's location. The food was GREAT. Everything was hot and the chimichangas were def our favorites. Don't let the location (an old Burger King) get you twisted, this is real Mexican restaurant food. And at a great price!
