I completely dislike paying with the terminal machine since it is extra steps to give them the tip you want to give them. I do believe they changed my tip once after I left. All it takes is a manager override. I haven't been back since.

The food options were a bit lackluster; this is very much an American-style Japanese restaurant and lacks many staples in a more traditional Japanese restaurant.The food was okay. Having a bento box and a side roll. The salad is just standard iceburg with some greens; they're premade earlier in the day as the dressing has separated and is mostly watery in the bottom, making the lettuce soggy.The chicken in the bento box was dry. White meat doesn't really make good Japanese style chicken as it's gotta be fattier. The California roll was solid. The vegetables and brown rice sides were actually very good. The eggroll tasted frozen and deep fried, not fresh, which makes the inside very mushy.The bonsai roll was okay, it lacked flavor. A Japanese style pickle vegetable roll would be more interesting.My partner got the appetizer tacos and they were unappealing and would rate them as edible.Our table also got another bento, dry chicken, too. The beef udon bowl another got smelled delicious. It was likely the best thing we got at the table.The service was fast and great. The restaurant was very clean. The bathrooms were great even.I hope they take the time to improve their food quality, as everything else is very good.

Our organization recently held an event here at the St. Charles location that turned out great! Manager Lauren was on the ball and easily accommodated the special program needs and we had attentive service. The restaurant has a pleasant, open atmosphere with good ambiance. Our bento meals had perfectly made tempura, fresh sashimi, and even special items. A big parking lot is around the corner. Many attendees commented on leaving as to what a wonderful event it was.

I had The Playboy and Wasabi Special. I have had the Playboy several times at other Wasabi restaurants, and it is usually delicious but not so much at this location. It tastes like the shrimp were cooked in old cooking oil, and they had no crunch. I always finish my Playboy, but not today, and I was starved. My Wasabi Special was ok, not as great as the last time I had it. It had a little too much tempura crunch. Waitress was very absent during my visit, well, at least at my table. I saw her having a lengthy conversation with the next table about menu items and then walked in the other direction when she finished. The place would be good for a first date if the food and service were better. Quiet and intimate. I'll stick with my regular location where the sushi is delicious and the waitresses are friendly.

This review is JUST for carryout from Wasabi, and specifically the $7 Maki Roll Tuesdays! We love to get our favorite rolls for around 50% off, which makes it a GREAT deal on a weekly basis. Wasabi does a wonderful job packaging everything very nicely together and the rolls are usually very nicely made-- not too much rice, plenty of filling inside. I haven't dined in the restaurant but I've had great experiences with the pickup counter :) Would definitely recommend going, especially for that $7 deal every Tuesday!
I’ve had an unfortunate experience with the quality of food at this location this evening. I’ve dined here previously and found it perfectly passible. Tonight however, I took my food to go and found the sushi to be nearly inedible and completely unenjoyable. The rice was hard, you could tell by looking at it that it hadn’t been cooked through. The grains were small and not translucent like they should be when cooked. Sushi rice should not crunch. I’ve always found wasabi to be a bit overpriced for what you get compared to their competitors so paying what I did tonight for food I could not consume was an utter disappointment.

When I'm at my parents and the craving for sushi hits, we always end up at Wasabi. This visit I called ahead for a table of 4 and they added us on the list - were seating right when we got there! We always order the gyoza to start - it's a must get appetizer. They are perfectly crispy on the bottom but tender on top with a really tasty flavorful filling. We also like to order a few rolls at a time, and add rolls until we're full. I've never had a roll of sushi I didn't like here. Our all time favorite is the Mr. Kim Roll. It's great if you love a classic California roll but want to kick it up a notch.
