The service was great! We went on Taco Tuesday and I must say they were delicious. Between two of us we had 6 tacos and a basket of nachos with dip and we were very full. The bill...$6.42. There isn't much ambiance and things look a little old but very clean. It's become our favorite Tuesday Ishtar place

I recently had the unfortunate experience of dining at El Tarasco Taqueria & Restaurant, and I must say it was nothing short of a disappointing disaster. From start to finish, it was a culinary catastrophe. To kick off this disastrous evening, I decided to order the Nacho Supreme from the menu, which, according to their description, promised a tantalizing combination of "beef or chicken, lettuce, cheese, beans, tomatoes, sour cream, guacamole, and jalapeños." Sounds mouthwatering, right? Well, what actually showed up at my table was a sad excuse for nachos: a mound of chips and some tough, flavorless steak. Yes steak! Not the beef or chicken I had expected. It was like they couldn't even be bothered to read their own menu.Hoping to salvage this already regrettable meal, I requested guacamole, as it was clearly listed as an ingredient in the Nacho Supreme description. Lo and behold, they charged me an outrageous $3.50 for that tiny dollop of guacamole. Seriously? Is guacamole now a rare and precious gem?But the icing on this disastrous cake came when I received the bill. Not only did I get charged extra for the steak that should have been included in the "Nacho Supreme," but they had the audacity to charge me a grand total of $17 for a plate of chips, subpar steak, and a minuscule portion of guacamole that should have been part of the meal deal priced at $10.99. It's a classic bait-and-switch tactic that left a bitter taste in my mouth. To make matters worse, I can't help but wonder if El Tarasco Taqueria & Restaurant is attempting to extort people with lighter skin. It's appalling to think that they might discriminate based on ethnicity when it comes to pricing or service, but based on my experience, it wouldn't surprise me if they engage in such unethical practices. In conclusion, my visit to El Tarasco Taqueria & Restaurant was an absolute disaster. The false advertising, overpriced guacamole, and questionable billing practices left me feeling cheated and disheartened. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless you enjoy subpar food, hidden charges, and the suspicion of discriminatory practices. Save your time, money, and appetite for a more honest and reputable dining establishment.

WOW, possibly the best Authentic Mexican food we have had. My spouse found another winner. A little out of the way but well worth the effort. This small little restaurant is in a strip center but very easy to find. You walk in and they great you in the most upbeat and friendly way. A great way to start. There are about 12 table or so and by the time we left (2:00PM) they were all full.Vanesa helped us and she was outstanding and very patient with us. She brought chips and salsa and said that we had the mild salsa. We asked about others and here they came. The red one is very, very hot she said, the green one not so much. Then we ordered: one each - chorizo, el pastor, and barbacoa tacos, a chile relleno and a side of refried beans. They arrived and they were huge and beautiful. We could have had one a piece and been totally satisfied. The meats in each taco were perfectly cooked, not over cooked and tender as can be. Might be the best chorizo I have ever had. They were served street food style with only cilantro and onions...but they added a nice touch. On the side were sliced radishes and grilled onions. The chile relleno was awesome. The cheese on the inside was a new one for us. We should have asked what it was as it was delicious. The batter on the poblano was thin and not eggy. Guess they used a little salt. I ate half of my chorizo and pastor tacos and half of the chile relleno. The refried beans were very creamy and had the best taste. The serving was huge and yes we had too much. We then decided we must take our leftovers and then added two cheese and onion enchiladas. I had to open them and look and they were beauties. Tasted a small taste and oh, my more winners. We heated everything up and had another great meal that evening. The service was great. Friendly staff. Excellent food. They do take out. Highly recommend. If you are lucky Vanesa will help you. She has been working at the restaurant since they opened about four years ago. Enjoy!

Absolutely fantastic little gem! Was in the area for kids sports and so glad we stumbled upon this place. The food was FANTASTIC! I ordered a grilled chicken taco and cheese and onion enchilada and both were delish and full of flavor. My family got pollo con queso and asada tacos with beans and all were so good. Everything was fresh and so full of great flavor!

A wonderful gem in a non-descript strip mall. What it lacks in ambiance, it makes up for in service and deliciousness. The women working were wonderful, very helpful and attentive. We tried enchiladas, chimichangas, nachos, Chile rellenos, tacos and each was tastier than the last. Big thumbs up.

This is delicious Mexican food, not Tex Mex. The service is great, they're always friendly even when they're busy, always a smile. The atmosphere is very pleasant, I particularly enjoy hearing Spanish spoken, I love Latin culture, it's a restaurant very popular with Latinos because it's REAL always fresh and yummy MEXICAN cooking. We eat there very often, I recommend trying their weekend specials.

Delicious and very reasonably priced. Had the language and carne asada tacos. Good portions and tortillas tasted homemade. Word of warning ... red sauce is yummy but not for a light weight. If you don't like spicy, stick to the green taco sauce.

I love authentic Mexican food. This place is great if you have ever had real Mexican food. I didn't even need the menu that is stacked right at the counter. Immediately I walked up to the counter and told the lady that I wanted a burrito with everything in it. She knew right away what to order for me, but better than that the cook heard me and knew exactly what to make me. The front counter lady, who was extremely welcoming and friendly to me, asked me what meat I wanted but before I could say want I wanted the cook stepped in and said I can make you a burrito with both chicken and steak. Immediately in heaven, I had only been there two minutes, and they formulated a burrito exactly the way I wanted. The lady told me that the burrito had rice, pico de gayo, cheese, and everything else you expect a burrito to have. Once I got my order in a to-go box she gave me a red sauce and a green sauce in two separate containers. These are their hot sauces; warning RED is for the pros; if you can't handle the heat GO GREEN! The burrito was made to perfection. The chicken was cooked perfectly and had plenty of flavors. The steak mixed in what tender and balanced well with the chicken. The rice was cooked just right and mixed well with everything inside. I was drooling as I was eating. Yes this was a heavy meal and no it didn't come with a side of rice and beans, but you don't need it because it had everything in it. I then added some of the RED hot sauce and man was it good, but the burn lingers, and it stays with you. So if you like heat and flavor, this is the sauce for you. The red sauce is so powerful it made the Green Sauce taste like water. The Green sauce is okay and is for people that just want a little spice in their life. This place was so good with the burrito I had to go back for their Taco Tuesday special. So on Tuesday, I showed up with a friend, the same lady was there and this time she treated me even nicer almost like family. So I ordered like family, again I didn't need the menu, and I ordered two street Mexican Tacos of Pastor and two shrimp tacos. My friend ordered 4 American-style tacos with chicken and beef. He had never had street tacos, so I ordered him one shrimp and one steak. Long story short, he first had the American Tacos, then the Mexican street tacos, and hated going back. The Mexican street tacos are full of cilantro onions and have a fresh, grilled flavor. Mixed with their hot sauce and a fresh squeeze of lime, it will take you directly to the streets of Mexico. The pastor tacos are amazing, this was the first time I had a place make them so good I could taste the pineapple pieces. The shrimp tacos were just as amazing and I wanted to eat more. Places like this make me happy to be a traveling foodie. This place is hard to find and about 20 minutes from Keesler AFB, but when you find it save it because you will be back for more. I promise you!

Loved the tacos here. We will definitely be back. We made a very large order to go. If you have a large order, I recommend separating the orders to make it easier on the staff. Highly recommend the chorizo tacos if you like some spice. Carne tacos were a little dry but we did go at the end of the day. Overall 10/10 recommend. Ask for extra sauce!

I was told by a co worker about a small Mexican restaurant that I just had to try. I’m glad that I listened. I am very picky due to wanting good authentic Mexican food. The tacos were great. The flavor was good used quality meat and I also ordered beans and rice. The beans were fresh and home made, not canned like you get at many restaurants. And the salsa was homemade and had the best flavor. I didn’t give it a ten ONLY because I haven’t tried enough of the rest of the menu yet. It is a great grab a lunch there place or call In a family meal and have it at home.
