We were traveling and passing through on way back to MN. I had not any southern Barbecue in Alabama. This had somewhat good reviews on Yelp. We were the only white people inside at first. My parents don't eat much and wanted to split. One guy kept saying that's not enough food. Sister convinces us to just order alacarte combo. She kept calling my mom "mama". It was hilarious. They ordered beef ribs, pork ribs, beans and fried okra. I had brisket, coleslaw and collard greens and corn muffin. The brisket was smoked nicely but dry, and some fat, which I trimmed. Needed Barbecue sauce. The Barbecue sauce was awesome. They should bottle and sell it. The collard greens, coleslaw and fried okra were good. Sweet tea was awesome with a free refill. Corn bread muffin, could have been moister. My parents liked the pork ribs, but said beef ribs were tough. A sheriff's deputy was packing and sat at a nearby table. Felt very safe. Recommend stopping.

Out of everyone I have been to the Rib Shack has the best ribs baked beans potato salad and have the best barbecue sandwiches in Meridian I wouldn't go nowhere else to buy my ribs Rib Shack has the best I would recommend this to all my family and friends.

Tried the pork ribs and the brisket, and each bite was a taste of barbecue perfection. Not only that, but the portion sizes were impressively generous! I will definitely be returning to The Rib Shack when I visit Meridian again.

Met at the door with a very warm welcome and upon asking for recommendations it was spot on! Service was great and we loved the ribs and beans. This was not a very big place but it had a lot of heart. Thanks for welcoming a traveler to Meridian.

I want to move to Meridian so I can come here every week! Best real Southern style BBQ I’ve ever had. I’m traveling home to GA from CA. I sure loved the food and hospitality at the Rib Shack. Try the Caramel Cake for dessert ?

Great BBQ Joint. Shack is a pretty good description... You're not here for the atmosphere! Just a few tables, and you order at the window. People were very friendly, and our food came out quickly. My ribs were good...(thankfully NOT pressure cooked! I hate it when I order ribs that are advertised as being good BBQ and they come out as a pressure cooked mush!)Sauce was a tad sweet for my taste...I prefer more spicy. Side okra was great...collards pretty good, but having some spicy vinegar pepper would have been welcome.I'd come back next time my travels take me thru Meridian.

A bit of advice: here's the PLACE for tasty, meaty ribs, seasoned perfectly and smoked so completely. Wow. It's a deal too--two rib plates with two sides each (and these are not puny servings) and two drinks: $31 with tax included. Recommended sides: Lima beans, field peas, Mac and cheese, and okra--lightly battered, fried spot on where pieces are crispy and not soggy. Such quality and quantity-- you have to go to the smaller southern towns to find these places anymore. Easy enough to find off the interstate, parking on site but limited number of tables inside. Place does a robust take-out business.
