It’s okay for Meridian but if you have ever had authentic Jamaican in Jamaica, this falls very short. The jerk isn’t a dry rub, it’s wet & they use boxed mac & cheese and bag rice. I have eaten here twice just to make sure… and it’s not worth the price in my opinion. Over $50 for two plates. The curry goat was good but thin/watery, the salmon portions were very small for the price.I know the owners are Jamaican, but Im guessing maybe they must have learned to cook in America. I’ve been eating at Boswell’s, Coco Hut, & Jerk House in New Orleans for years, decades for Boswell’s… and this food is nothing like what I’m used to. Even Simmer Down in Philadelphia is substantially better and they have a connection to the world famous dancehall artist Patra. Mona’s in Hattiesburg is even better and they water down their brown stew with bbq sauce.I gave it a shot more than once, it’s a good concept but the food isn’t worth the prices. I wouldn’t complain at all if the food were more authentic. I know this may seem harsh but I’m a chef and also a food blogger. I won’t be returning.

Decided to get lunch from here today as I hadn’t tried them before and I was not disappointed. I went for the Ribs with a side of macorroni and plantains. The ribs were so tender the meat just melted off and all three items were packed with flavor. I recommend giving them a try. I will for sure be a returning customer.

If you haven’t tried The Island 601 you are definitely missing out! Had the ribs, plantains, and macorroni for lunch today and it was so good! Ribs were very tender and the flavor was on point. For sure going back to try some of their other items.

Awesome place for a “day date “. Food was superb (jerk chicken quesadillas) and since we were there just before lunch hour kicked in we really we able to relax and enjoy the music and chit chat with the owner. Highly recommmended!!

I went to this place and sat down at a table, (the table was rocking like a rocking chair) the table was very annoying. I waited for about 15 minutes and was never served. Other people came in and went to bar and were served. They acted like I was invisible. I won't be returning to this unfriendly place. I'll take my money elsewhere.

The food tasted just like how it tastes in Jamaica. The server is super friendly and they play a really good selection of Jamaican
Finger licking good Caribbean foodIt's been a while since I've had some good oxtail. I've travel a lot and this is some of the best restaurant Caribbean food I've had.

I got the curry chicken, rice and peas, greens, a beef patty, and cocoa bread. Everything was delicious except for the greens. Flavor was good but under cooked! The beef patty to me was the star of the show.

Truly delicious food. Spiced perfectly. We had the brown curry chicken and the jerk chicken - with greens and cabbage side. The portions were generous and each item was really delicious. Quality food.
