Blown away by the food here! Homemade ice cream was the best I ever had and the outdoor patio had a wonderful ambiance. Service was great too. I’ll definitely be back!!

Great atmosphere, food and service! Love the redesign, super classy. I ate here two nights in a row and had impeccable service each time. Phoebe and Jalyn were phenomenal. Soups of the day were great, love the current amuse bouche, short ribs were tender beyond belief. Also, their new digital payment method is so cool! 10/10 would come back and highly recommend.

Awesome service and delightful brunch! We stayed at the Oliver Hotel and had Christmas Eve brunch here! The Fried Chicken Benedict was eclectic and tasty and our server Jalyn was poised, available, articulate and very pleasant!

We decided to go have a birthday dinner at the newly re-branded Oliver Hotel (previously Chancellor's House)I say re-branded because the layout of the hotel has not changed at all, only the color scheme was slightly different. We had a guest in for Thanksgiving and wanted to treat her to dinner at an upscale local restaurant and to celebrate a family birthday. We had special requests for dinner as our guest from out of town has several food allergies. This issue was discussed prior to making our reservation . We were assured that our special needs would be met. We made a reservation for dinner after being assured our special needs would be met. We arrived on time and were shown to our table. Our server was informed about the food allergies of our guest which gave me hope for a pleasant relaxed dinner. Our server took our drinks order and this was promptly served. Then she took our order for our first course ( two bowls of Soup of Day). Another bowl of soup was for a main course. Our guest with the food allergies was offered a steak and some simple vegetables for dinner, which was accepted The other Entrees were some shrimp and the fish of the day with vegetables . Away went our server to hand our Entrée order in at the kitchen .....The soup and baguette was enjoyable as a first course. Then our Entrée order was confirmed and our server went to take care of other tables. There were 4 other tables. There were 4 servers running the tables. Some of the tables were large groups. Our server checked on us for more drinks and served these promptly. After about 45 minutes we had not being attended to and we inquired how long before we would be served our Entrees? Our server apologized and went to the kitchen to check on order, when she came back she gave us the standard reply that dinner would be served soon....We waited another 15 minutes and no service. We called for a manager as we had been waiting for almost an hour for our dinner to be served. The manager was very terse and blamed us for the delay in serving our dinner as we had asked for steak and apparently it takes their line-cooks almost an hour to cook a steak....Lesson to someone dealing with the public....the Client/ Guest is NEVER wrong....We promptly decided to leave and go have dinner somewhere else. Before leaving we had to pay almost $100.00 for 2 glasses of wine, two bowls of soup, a baguette, some butter, a glass of soda and some sparkling water no discount or complimentary service....Nothing. We surely won't be back to Kingswood Restaurant ever again, neither would we recommend the restaurant for any reason. No comments on the food as we had very little. No comments on desert as we had none. Our server was helpless and caring, the same can't be said for the kitchen manager and kitchen staff. I agree with other reviews...Server was very kind and caring. The food was exceptional in its absence. Customer service from the manager was also exceptional....Exceptionally Rude. Very Pricey.

We had a reservation for dinner for 4 adults at Kingswood Restaurant in the newly rebranded Oliver Hotel (Previously Chancellor's House) in Oxford on Friday November 24,2023. We wanted to try the newest restaurant in town. We had a guest from out of town come to visit Oxford for a family event and Thanksgiving. We thought it would be a good idea to take our guest to dinner at Kingswood. Our guest suffers from SEVERE, life threatening food allergies and we inquired if the Chef would be able to accommodate her needs. We provided a list of the allergens to avoid and we were assured our needs could be met. After this assurance I went ahead and made a reservation for 4 adults for (11/24/23) @ 6:30. When we arrived we were promptly shown to our table. Our server gave us menus and left us to decide what we would order from drinks. She took our drinks order and gave us some time to peruse the menu. Two of our party decided to have the potato soup and a baguette for their starters. One of our party decided to have the potato soup for an Entree. Our guest from out of town did not order a first course due to her allergies. She did have some sparkling water. The other members of our party had a glass of Chardonnay, a beer and a soda. After our table was cleared our server took the orders for our Entrees. The order included the previously mentioned potato soup and a baguette, the fish of the day (Red Fish) and some vegetables, an order of shrimp and vegetables. Our guest with the food allergies was informed that the kitchen could prepare a steak and some vegetables cooked as she requested in butter and seasoned with salt. All looked well and we were eager to get our food. After 30 minutes nothing had been brought to the table and we waited some more as the restaurant had other tables too and some of the tables were large parties. Some had come in before us, so understandably we had to wait our turn. After 45 minutes still no food or time-line of when we would be served dinner. After and hour wait for our entrees we requested to speak to the kitchen manager it turned out. She told us our order was delayed because it takes the kitchen about an hour to cook a steak...which we found hard to believe as we cook steak at home and it sure does not take that long at home on a NON-COMMERCIAL stove to cook a steak. If you cook a steak for an hour you might as well be eating charcoal... The kitchen manager told us she could not rush the kitchen and we just had to wait our turn...the other tables had already been served....but not us... We did not receive any complimentary drinks, or snacks...nothing. The kitchen manager was very rude when we asked if she could give us an estimate of how much longer it would be before we would be served. She just kept blaming us for the situation...We promptly decided to leave. Before leaving we asked for our bill and we paid almost $100.00 for two bowls of soup, two glasses of wine, a beer, a soda and a bottle of Sparkling water. Nothing was comped to compensate us for never getting our entrees. Nothing! We sure won't be back to Kingswood. There are other reviews on travel sites about the service and food at Kingswood. I agree that the food was exceptional..Exceptional in its abscence, the service was exceptional from our server as she did all she could to keep us happy, I will give her credit for that. The service from the kitchen manager was exceptional also...Exceptionally RUDE!!! I cannot comment on the food quality at the restaurant as I did not have any. I cannot comment on the quality of the sweets severed at the restaurant as we never had the opportunity to have any... I will surely NOT recommend your restaurant to any of my family or friends who are looking for a dinner suggestion.

When we realized we'd be traveling through Oxford MS on Thanksgiving, we at first worried we'd end up eating at Waffle House. We were delighted to learn that Joel Miller's Kingswood in the Oliver Hotel would be serving a prix fixe menu that day. The hotel itself is charming, and beautifully decorated for the holidays. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Our waitress, however, seemed undertrained. For example, she left the wine menu on our small table throughout the meal -- though she neglected to ask if we wanted to order wine. Things like that. It was difficult to match the appetizers to the entrees. The scallop appetizer was okay. The beet salad was actually spinach salad with cubed beets. It was delicious but oversalted, and the beets were bland. Entrees: The duck was good but there wasn't much of it. Problems came with the redfish etouffee: It came in a chipped bowl, and the sauce was cool, even cold in spots. We asked to have it warmed up. Waitress asked, Do you want to keep your silverware? but there was no place to put it down. (A bread plate -- with maybe some bread -- would have been nice.) The problem of cold food has arisen a few times in our 40 years of dining out, and the standard response is an apology and an offer to keep the other plate warm while the kitchen fixes the problem. That didn't happen here. As for the taste, well, we've eaten etouffee in some of the best restaurants in New Orleans and Lafayette, and this was not that. The sauce was a thin tomato sauce, with no sign of the Cajun trinity, and maybe a touch of Cajun seasoning. The fish itself was excellent. Dessert: The creme brulee was fine, but the apple tart was seriously the worst we've ever had. The crust was thick and gummy, the apples were quite crunchy, and the nutmeg was overwhelming. Overall and $200 later, although the quality of the ingredients was top-notch, we wonder if we would have been happier at Waffle House.

Breakfast brunch is just meh. The same people who had such an incredible menu at Ravine for breakfast have cut it down to a bland menu you'd expect anywhere. As for kids, if you're going to be in a hotel, you should have a kids menu and some options for kids. No pancakes? If you're going to be bland, at least have pancakes or waffles. Just sadly underwhelming compared to when it was Ravine lite before the full transition

Delicious food and wonderful service in a beautiful space on the Oxford square! Great new addition to the Oxford food scene.

By far the best meal we had in Oxford. This was still in their “soft opening” period. Hope they can keep it up because it was excellent.

Great service and flavor filled dishes. The restaurant is part of the Oliver Hotel. The couple next said they enjoyed their food order. Please make a reservation before coming.

Great food and service! Fresh craft and vintage cocktails and good wine list. Something to please everyone. Our new go to restaurant. Chef Joel does it again.
