When a stranger heard that I was heading to Helena, they told me to not miss Big Dipper Ice Cream. Located on a cute pedestrian street, I was impressed that even on a slow morning, there was still a few people ordering ahead of me. I asked what their top flavor was, and was told that it was huckleberry. I have gone huckleberry picking in California before, so I was quite excited to try the ice cream. I wouldn't say that it was the richest/creamiest ice cream that I've ever had, but it was quite nice. Minimal crystalization, just the right amount of sweet, pleasant flavor. It wasn't all that cozy inside, so I opted for the to-go option, as did everyone else before me, but there is a decent amount of seating for days where you don't want to eat ice cream outdoors.

So we where having trouble ordering online and the staff helped us get it through because my wife had foot surgery and I was working. They even sent a get well soon note for her. We really appreciate you guys so much!!!!

I usually don’t leave reviews but I felt I had to give a shout out this time. We were visiting from Colorado and stopped in for a couple of milkshakes on September 22. After the shakes were done, I asked about purchasing a small amount of vanilla ice cream for our dog, Moxi, whose birthday is today (turning 14) and her brother, Lucca. The lady who was working the counter was so very nice and gave the dog’s ice cream as a present to our old lady. I’m sorry I didn’t get her name; she was so sweet. Thank you again for making Moxi’s birthday special!!

Great selection from normal to far out flavors!I opted for the starship sundae, which is a banana split! I chose the banana special, salted caramel, and Reese's...all smothered in hot fudge!Huge portion and friendly staff.... Great joint, it makes the list!

This place is so good, we’ll drive 135 miles one way away to have a scoop or two. Always worth the drive and the wait in line. Service is always fast and friendly, which is the cherry on top!!
