My husband and I have only been coming to this bakery recently. We have acquired an addiction to the homemade oatmeal cream pies!! Oh my gosh they are amazing. The filling is so yummy and we crave them now. Also the sugar cookies are amazing as well.
There aren't a lot of places these days that have stayed the same for the last at least 35 years. Central Bakery stands out by retaining what works. We pick up seasonal goods regularly, think the thin sugar cookies in the shapes of witches hats, pumpkins, turkeys, etc. they taste the same to me now as they did over 30 years ago. This is an amazing bakery in downtown Asheboro! Growing up, my mom would bring me by if I got a good report card. Today, I stopped by to get some sweets to celebrate Valentine's Day! Their design cookies are my daughter's absolute favorite--they were out of the plain but had the decorated dinosaurs (which are even better!) Over the years, we've had cakes and pies from Central Bakery and would 100% recommend.
