Firstly, there was not one authentic Greek dish on the menu. My husband is 100% Greek from Corfu (Kerkyra) Greece. He is a chef in an exclusively authentic Greek/Italian restaurant in Anchorage, Alaska. Our server, Abby, was simply stellar. She was completely accommodating, friendly, and professional. I asked 3 people where the owner was from in Greece and one might assume that he isn't Greek at all because there's no evidence in the restaurant and no one could give me an answer. If you are in the mood for Americanized pseudo Greek food, that is to say, Greek in name only then you won't mind. The cashier was derogatory and rude. Trying to suddenly charge me extra fees for using a card when it was not posted anywhere beforehand or on the menu. I refused to pay it. That's no way to run a business. I will never return.Incidentally, I bravely tried the gyro sandwich made with marinated chicken which Abby recommended and it wasn't even remotely similar to an authentic gyro. The black coffee was fresh, my son tried cheese bread with marinara but that's not a Greek item. The pizza was under cooked. For the quality of the food I must add that it was over priced. I found more authentic gyros at Kostas in Fletcher. This place is a tourist trap for the American with an untrained palate. If you must go, make sure you tip Abby very well.

There was nothing wrong with the food, definitely more 'American' than 'Greek' . Congratulations on celebrating 24years in business. That's a wonderful accomplishment.I moved to Asheville 22 years ago and Apollo Flame has always been a staple. Whether I was on the west side of town for work or play, it was a consideration.
I met girlfriends there for lunch. The menu has everything Greek you can crave. Their Greek salad is the best I’ve ever had anywhere, hands down. My combo Gyro Platter had lamb and so much chicken I removed some and took it home for later. The prize was meeting Jimmy the owner, one of my friends had worked for years ago. Delightful man. Often when I’m out, I will order a large Greek salad to go. Oh forgot to mention the desserts, my oh my, they are divine!

The pizza is excellent. Everything else is meh. We've eaten there 5 times in the past 16 months. It's ok. Everything seems frozen, from a can. Just underwhelming but decent. Except the pizza which is really good!

I usually get Togo’s because I live a ways away. They make it easy and wonderful! Such a great dinner after a busy day. The food is always amazing! The staff is great too.
We love this family restaurant with Greek Italian and American food (Sister restaurant Bellagio Bistro in Woodfin.). We shared the combo gyro platter (3 greek chicken tenders & 3 lamb slices) and greek salad. We then added another pita & cucumber sauce. Dessert was their Oreo cheesecake (chocolate cake bottom layer, cheesecake, cream with oreo topping). Coffee was also delicious.
There must be a formula for Greek restaurants, they're always good! Apollo is no exception, service was prompt and food was delicious.
