The BEST pastries... and affordable! This has become my go-to place for a savory pastry for lunch, desserts to go, and for treats for friends.

Amazing pieces of work and great pastries. The man and woman who run it are very sweet. Definitely check it out

A great place to stop in for pourover coffee or a tea from their inpressive list, and a delicious pastry while you view the beautiful artwork in Riverview Station. Akira's pottery is not to be missed!

The coffee is terrific in this small coffee shop where they roast their own beans. We had capuccino and it was perfectly made. The muffin we had though could have been warmed up, or better yet, fresher, as it was a little stale. I would recommend stopping in for coffee but skip the pastries!

Japanese shaved ice is great! The place is owned by a Japanese couple. They make it right.

Rich and bold percolated coffee and a lovely selection of delicious pastries mostly all made by the owner! This is the place to pop into when wandering the River Arts District for a little pick-me-up.

What a sweet little pastry shop! Just the place to stop in and get a little pick-me-up while shopping around the River Arts District. They have exceptional percolated coffee and exquisite teas that you can pair alongside a sweet treat.

Good pastries. You can also see beautiful ceramic arts of Akira Satake.

Talk about feeling like the proverbial 'bull in a china shop:' No joke. This l'il tea-centric cafe is located inside an artist's studio, showcasing beautiful, pricey handmade textured ceramics. It had the impact, *major tangent alert* of taking me back to when I was a kid and my Mom used to treat me to dainty olive-nut sandwiches at this 'ladies who lunch' style tea room. To get there, we'd have to walk through a very posh china shop that never failed to trigger the paranoid fear that I'd wind up breaking something. But oh, how I loved those olive nut sandwiches, plus there was orange sunshine cake for dessert and flavored ice cubes depending on the drink; lemonade ice cubes for lemonade were my favorite and as I got older, coffee ice cubes for iced coffee. Sigh. Back to the subject at hand, though am now all growed up, I was a bit nervous I'd break something here too, and couldn't quite relax. Plus the space just feels so darn serene, but not in a way that's calming; more like a way that makes you want to sit up straighter. Yeah, yeah. But what about the treats n' tea? Well, we tried a couple Ginger Twists and these were truly lovely. Sort of like Elephant Ears, aka Palmiers, but in long, skinny stick form. LOVED that the ginger flavor really shined through. Kid and I both got Yuzu Iced Tea. Unsweetened and intensely tart 'n citrusy, it grew on me the more I sipped it. Hubby went with Iced Barley Tea, and this did not grow on me at all. Very distinctive and an acquired taste, though hubby went nuts for it. Bottom line: I'd definitely recommend stopping here if you happen to be in the area. Though just know that at least when we were here, late on an an eerily quiet weekday afternoon, the pastry selection was pretty limited. So am not sure this place is worth traveling out of your way.

Best pastries in Asheville as far as I have tasted. Love the individually made pour over coffee, the creative and consistently delightful pastries, and being surrounded by the beautiful art.
