I waited awhile before writing this review because I wanted to be fair despite a truly bizarre and inappropriate occurrence. A female staff member embarrassed me in front of my family and a good portion of the tables around us. She was acting erratically. I won't begin to speculate. This caught the attention of her co-workers. One was nice and apologized. She noted that the unstable girl had worked a double shift. Our waiter was not helpful and was very sarcastic. He resisted giving me the name of the manager. Since nobody approached I have to assume there wasn't one. I eventually got the name of the GM but, she wasn't helpful and wouldn't give me the name of the owner. This was my 3rd visit and my 2nd bad experience with this specific waiter. The GM saved him on our previous visit and engaged us in great conversation. She offered her business card and told me to contact her directly in the future for reservations. I did for this evening. She responded but never followed up. My assistant ended up booking us on Open Table. No apologies. I assumed that this charming spot was owned by the hotel but, The Omni clarified that they were not affiliated. They were very curious however to hear the details of our night. The 2 people I spoke with didn't seem all that surprised . They apologized on behalf of The Golden Fleece and picked up our bill. We left Golden Fleece abruptly and had coffee and after dinner drinks at the hotel. The evening was I salvageable though. My brother had gotten engaged a few hours before. I knew this was occurring and I picked this restaurant for its ambiance. To date, I've never been contacted by the owner nor did the GM ever follow up after our initial correspondence which is so odd to me given the extreme nature of what occurred that night. I was with my parents that evening. They have a security detail 24/7 I often do as well and they were 1 table away. Had the waitress continued, this could have gone sideways quickly. I glanced to let them know I had this under control; albeit, unnecessarily humiliating. This occurred when we were celebrating a special occasion. I had a table of 6 that had never been there. We were all uncomfortable and left immediately. It's especially disappointing for us because despite the challenging service, food items being unavailable and peculiar aloof staff we enjoyed the ambiance. Food was good enough for us to go 3 times. Clearly, there won't be a fourth.

Delicious Greek food. Enjoyed a gyro, chicken sandwich, hummus and pita bread along with a glass of wine.

Ambiance is gorgeous and the wood fire is perfection. Had the mushrooms, Brussels, and wood-fired chicken. Also the drink with bourbon and bacon. Absolutely a must go.

Quiet and elegant space with great, wood-fired meals

Our Valentines dinner could have been a lot better. My fiance and I do not go out much so it was very special. We had reservations and I was surprised to find that there were no hostess to greet you. We stood at the entryway for about a good while as everyone avoided eye contact. Although it was busy, not all the tables were taken. We were finally seating by a server passing by and then 2 different waitress offered to take our order. The Valentines

Great location, diverse menu and professional staff. First visit, definitely will return when back in Asheville. Parking is limited so plan to spend a minute or two finding a spot

We, a party of four tentatively made a reservation for Saturday evening but because of an unfortunate reliance on a poor review we cancelled. Well on Friday eve we decided to try it anyway because of an the menu.

If you're not staying at the GP Inn, it looks as though you're on the road to nowhere. The fact that the roadside sign just says"restaurant " instead of the name is a little weird too. When we finally arrived, our reservation somehow hadn't quite transmitted from Open Table. They were very gracious and found a place for us anyway. The standout on the menu is the rotisserie chicken. It was tender, juicy, well marinated and a bit charred on the outside. Perfection. We devoured every juicy morsel. The Brussels sprouts were terrific too. So was the homemade pita.

This is some of the best food in Asheville. Not to mention the restaurant itself is beautiful and cozy. We absolutely loved the octopus, rack of lamb, and brussel sprouts. I've lived in Greece in the past, and this food reminded me of all the delicious things I ate there. Also, our server Sergio was really nice and made great suggestions!! I'm definitely looking forward to going back and trying more dishes.
