While in town for business, several of us stopped in here for cocktails. Warren was excellent, he knew interesting cocktails which weren't part of their menu, which was really appreciated. So, while they didn't have Chartreuse, they did have maraschino liqueur to make Hemingway Daquiris! The vibe is fun and definitely that of a craft cocktail bar. I'd highly recommend stopping in, especially if in the mood for a nicely made craft cocktail!

I loved visiting this beautiful bar for their new Saturday brunch. I had the fried chicken biscuit with pimento cheese, special pickles, and salad. Chef Charlie Hodge's food always hits the spot and I can't wait to try the rest of the brunch entrees. I couldn't pass up the "Kick in the Pants" cocktail, a good brunchy type drink with coffee, cinnamon and rum. They also have a creative selection of "Zero Proof" non-alcoholic choices. If you are downtown, don't miss this brunch! The space is beautifully furnished and you can come for a big breakfast and order it all, like I did, or just enjoy a simple morning meal. Prices are reasonable and if you are lucky, like I was, having a conversation with Chef Charlie might be possible -- he is delightful! Saffron was the server that day and she was friendly, professional, and made the experience really wonderful!

So disappointed. We had a gift card and were excited to try this restaurant. The food was subpar, at best. We had Colossal Scallops (they were definitely not colassal - I actually Googled what a colossal scallop should look like), chicken roulade, dry aged sirloin and I had a bowl of beets because there was no vegan or vegetarian option (salad is not a vegetarian entree option). I wish I had taken pics. The presentation was terrible. Three mediocre, non-seared large (not colossal) scallops on a brown dinner plate with a couple of mushrooms. No flair or finesse. It was so unappealing and not making you want to eat. I'm not sure how the chef actually sent this out to the table for $27? The steak was tough, also very small, and underwhelming. The four small pieces of chicken, spread across the middle of a plate, also not worthy of the $23 price - there was the "gastrique" but this did not make the plate any more appealing, the very miniscule wilted leeks didn't help. We ordered two orders of Potate Pavé, which after seeing one go past our table, were told the "chef was not happy with the potato dish" and we could order something different. My daughter and her boyfriend ordered Broccolini. One order came out - we were so despondent at this point we just wanted to be done and leave (we were not charged for two orders so that's good). I'm not sure if the chef had a bad night? The restaurant gets good reviews so I'm really confused on how this entire meal could have been so bad? We eat in NY a lot, and expect to pay high prices, and don't mind at all when the service is excellent, the food superb, and atmosphere enjoyable. We paid a similar price at Sovereign Remedies, but got no enjoyment from our meal, at all. Our bill for 5 was almost $300 (we did have a $200 gift card), and everyone was hungry. On the upside, the french fries were delicious and the milk bread was very good. I'm chalking this up to a very bad night for the chef. But it makes us leery about going again and walking out disappointed and hungry.

The meatballs and fries (with the homemade sauces) were phenomenal. Delish. The drinks were good as well as the service.

Wow! I loved everything I ordered here. I got the Chilaquiles (with duck confit, chocolate tortilla chips, cotija cheese, duck egg, and cilantro lime crema) and the Savory Crepe (with trumpet mushrooms, chickpea crepe, béchamel sauce, and local spinach) and split them with my partner. All I can say is MM! Actually, I'll also sing praises about the surprising complexity and sumptuousness of the dishes; the delightful marriage of complementary textures (crunchy, tender, and creamy); and how the flavors wove wonderful symphonies on my tongue. The Revival Tour nonalcoholic drink was also yummy-- it was a pleasing party on my tongue... and good for me too (yay beets)! I will 100% recommend this place to others, and come back next time I'm in Asheville!!

Awesome craft cocktail place. Bartender was personable and made multiple custom drinks (one using the energy powder I had lol) and the best espresso martini.

I had this restaurant bookmarked to try in Asheville for the past couple years and finally had the opportunity to stop in for an early dinner. When you enter you will observe many plants and a little lounge area. We sat at the bar around 4:15 PM we ordered drinks and appetizers and waited till five to put in our dinner order when the kitchen opened for full service. Service: Our bartender was courteous and got our orders taken care of. Noting noteworthy regarding service. What we ordered: Appetizer - White Fish Brandade This dish was good for 2 people who are hungry and leaving room for a main entree. Very tasty, very savory and fish forward. Main Entree- Cassoulet In case you're wondering what cassoulet means? It's basically what you'd consider a "chili" (I didn't know that and so I'm adding it here for easy reference) . The dish was very tasty, rich and comforting however if I had known it was a chili / stew , I would have ordered something else since based on the price, there were other options I would have chosen to spilt. Side: Black Trumpet Mushroom This dish was just ok for me. Maybe paired with the stew the flavors fell a little flat. Probably would complement another dish better. Now that I've tried Sovereign Remedies, I would say it was good for a one-time experience. There wasn't anything "crave-worthy" for me. If you choose to dine here you will likely find items you'll enjoy.

Perfect spot for a low key solo outing. I came here on Saturday night in the mood for a good cocktail somewhere new. It's in the heart of downtown, right across from the dueling piano bar and was about a mile from the hotel where I stayed. I found some street parking a block away. Luckily it was relatively warm so I didn't mind the walk over. Sovereign is dark but inviting and was pretty crowded as expected on a Saturday but I sat at the lounge/sofa area right up front and enjoyed my beverage while finishing up my most recent book. They have a bunch of great classic options as well as some creative offerings as well as standard beer and wine picks. I opted for the Now We Dance (tequila, triple sec, coconut milk, rosemary syrup, lime, smoked salt rim) and it did not disappoint. My server was nice and friendly and checked in on my a couple times before I was ready to close out. I was tempted to try the wine port, but I ended up checking out another spot instead. It’s pricey but worth every penny for the experience and flavor! I will definitely come back here though - they have a food menu too and a Sunday brunch that I would love to try next time.

This poor place. It’s a great place when it is stocked with food and wine. There are five mains on the menu and only two available tonight. The red wine menu (glass or bottle) only three of the six wines available. It’s not even tourist season at the beginning of March and they are having these problems. Finally giving up on it which is sad because the service is always great.

Great bar staff. Very knowledgeable. Great atmosphere and some of the best drinks we've had. We've only ever had drinks here so can't comment on the food.

This place has the vibe of a speak easy with comfy couches. The drinks magical but the food the servings are small and the menu is very small. Our bill for three was 107.00 and two of Us were still hungry. The food is delicious and the service 10/10.
