I ordered taco del pastor and they were AMAZZZING. However when I went their for the first time, the service was a little slow and the horchata had way too much coconut (which horchata should not have coconut in the first place). Also some drinks were stale. Besides that, the other foods were extremely good.

Bright, fresh salsa, homemade tortillas, and great service. I had the jicama salad, which was huge - next time I will split it with a friend - with finely chopped apples and jicama, and a generous portion of pepitas. I've had their tacos before, and really liked the tortillas. Our waiter was really helpful and friendly.

We’ve been to the Charleston location several times and always enjoy, so stopped in here when passing through Asheville. Staff was awesome. The hostess (or maybe manager) was amazing. So friendly and made sure we were well taken care of. Even setup corn hole for our kids outside. Strawberry Margarita was yummy and ask for the secret dip trio not on the menu- queso, quac, and salsa. Recommend!Kid-friendliness: casual outdoor area with corn hole and sidewalk chalk, very family friendly

Food was just ok and overpriced. We originally ordered the salsa, but the server recommended the off-menu “OG trio dip” which was $15 for just ok guacamole, salsa, and queso. The tinga enchiladas were ok, tinga tacos ok, and steak tacos extremely sus. We would not go back.

i really had high hopes for this place after reading all the great reviews i guess that tells me how much to trust asheville local’s reviews? no hate to the servers at this place! our server was super sweet and we loved her! i would describe this place as that crystal hippie girl that went to your high school; cool in theory but a little bland and trying too hard. i got the al pastor taco and borrow taco plate with both normal and black beans. my friends got nachos with vegan chorizo, esquite (mexican street corn), mushroom and queso empanadas, and hibiscus margarita with house vodka instead of tequila. my tacos were decent but nothing authentic more a tex mex vibe but i enjoyed it. i would say my beans and rice on the side were blander than satan’s hell itself but that would be disrespectful to satan. though i liked the tacos i judge a mexican place based on their beans and rice. my friends hated the nachos. the cheese was gluey and the toppings were not well dispersed. the vegan chorizo was very salty but at the same time not seasoned. the empanadas were nothing to write home about but the green sauce that came with saved it. the esquite was again mediocre but my friend saved it by taking it home and adding hot cheetos and hot sauce to it and eating it intoxicated. to try to save our food we asked our waitress for chipotle ranch and hot sauce which saved it. the hibiscus drink was pretty good and a lovely color. the waitress was helpful in helping us make a drink decision and switching out the tequila with vodka. worst thing of the night was the salty garlic chickpeas in the beginning of the meal. again, extremely salty and yet still weirdly underseasoned. i think the meal would’ve been improved by a fourth if we were just served grocery store salsa and tostitos. overall not a bad place if you want to spend a good amount of money on severely underseasoned but very salty tex mex (more tex than mex).Dietary restrictions: gf and veggie options

Dinner was delicious! We tried the Mole Molcajete and 2 taco platter with a Al pastor and birria taco. Our server, Nehemiah, did an excellent job making suggestions and brought out a sample of the new mango salsa. It was great! Excellent hospitality. Can’t wait to return!

Taco Boy is one of our favorite places to go for tacos, margaritas, and Mexican food in West Asheville. The restaurant is festive and colorful, with a great vibe and music. The staff is always friendly and helpful, and the service is fast and efficient. The food is amazing, with fresh and flavorful ingredients, generous portions, and a variety of options. I love their nachos, burritos, and quesadillas, and their salsa bar is awesome. The drinks are also fantastic, with a wide selection of beers, wines, and liquors, and the best margaritas in town. They use fresh juices in their cocktails, which makes them taste even better. They also have trivia nights, live music, and special events that add to the fun. Taco Boy is a must-try for anyone who loves Mexican food and a good time. Taco Boy is the best in West Asheville.

We visited right after they opened and weren’t impressed so we wrote them off. We had a gift card and decided to give it another shot. They’ve improved tremendously and we’re happy we went back!

My friend and I did takeout orders to eat at a taproom next door. We were greeted by a nice receptionist who offered us menus to look over while he finished up prepping a table or two. I ordered three Birria tacos @ $6 each and a side of nacho chips w/queso (unknown cost). Friend ordered Nachos with ground beef @ $16 and two Americano tacos @ $5 each. I was surprised with a bill of $32! My friends was $30! I asked him why the charge an he said that's what it comes up with on the screen and showed us.... He said he was sorry but that's what the charge is. We paid our bills (it was extremely busy at other close by eateries, or we may have gone somewhere else) and only took about 10 minutes to get the food. Food was average in flavor, nothing outstanding with no incentive to return. Can get MUCH better Mexican cuisine just down the road at very reasonable prices.
