Buena ubicación, la comida a buen costo y sabor aceptable, lamentablemente el servicio y atención es muy deficiente, los tiempos de espera arriba de los 40 min, ( solo son 5 mesas)

I've eaten here twice, and both were great experiences. I had whatever was on their daily special both times and thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Even my husband makes a sacrifice of the meat in his meal to come here with me. For me, Green Light Cafe combines no nonsense cooking with some really creative ideas. I feel happy, well-fed and healthy when I leave here, and the staff has been very friendly every time.

Dined here 5/8/12 for lunch and it was outstanding! Sloppy Jane special, kale salad and vegan potato salad. Washed it down with a few glasses of chlorophyll water and was good to go all day long. Nice varied menu and creative dishes. Nice folks work here and the service was very good. Can't wait to eat here again soon!

I really love homemade food. Local and organic, made from scratch. I am not a vegetarian, but I never miss meat at all when I eat at Green Light Cafe in Asheville. Favorite dish is the Bangkok Noodle Bowl! This is a local family run vegan/veg joint, and we always feel welcome here. :)

This my absolute favorite veggie friendly restaurant in Asheville! I have definitely eaten my weight in Tempeh Ruben's, they are the best I've ever had!! I also highly recommend their spring rolls and what ever tasty dessert they have that day. I sometimes dream about a German chocolate cupcake I had there once..... The Green Light Cafe is also a festival favorite. They set up during street fairs in Asheville, and at music festival around the area. Look for them at LEAF, FLOYD, Veg Fest, Music on the Mountain Top, and keep healthy durning your travels. One smoothie in the morning after a long night will set you straight and provide you with all the essential party vitamins so you can do it all again! Much Love to the Green Light!!

There are many good vegetarian and vegan restaurants in Asheville--The Laughing Seed, Plant, and Rosetta's Kitchen to name a few outstanding options. I read the Yelp reviews before going to Green Light and there were a few negative reviews and several rave reviews. Every place has a bad day or two, and I wanted to try another new restaurant in my new city, so I decided to check it out. Don't make the same mistake--nearly everything about this place is awful. The fact that very few people were dining at around 1:30pm should have been my first clue. The next clue was the half-assed greeting we received from the staff, who seemed very uninterested in being there or in serving their customers. I have a high level of empathy for servers--I waited tables for five years, but the service here was so slow, inattentive, and unprofessional that I have to make a note of it. They had no iced tea, the only traditional beverage aside from coffee on the menu. The other options were smoothies and juice drinks, which I was not in the mood for and which were on the expensive side. Eventually, I ordered a French press of coffee which was drinkable (in that it was warmish and contained caffeine) but by no means good. For lunch, my Mother had the Pecan Oat Crusted Eggplant Parmesan, which sounded great on the menu and was highly recommended by our server. It was mostly cheese, tomato sauce, and spinach and contained very little eggplant or pecans. It was also blandly seasoned, and I don't really like highly seasoned foods. I had the Citrus BBQ Bowl, which is kind of like soy orange chicken over rice with cabbage slaw. The slaw was the best part and it was merely mediocre. The "savory soy nuggets" were a bit over-cooked and the rice they were served atop was undercooked. I used the restroom, and it was filled with spare chairs and other junk that should not be stored in a restaurant bathroom. To top off this atrocious experience, I had to wait a very long time to pay too much money for a meal I could have cooked better myself. At one of my first serving jobs, this was stressed as one of the cardinal rules of waiting tables: "never make the guest wait to pay."

I'm not a vegetarian or vegan, but I enjoy good meatless food. This was not it. I had the pesto focaccia melt and my companion had the tempeh reuben. I thought-- you can't mess up pesto, tomatoes and cheese on bread. The bread was an old-sock smelling hockey puck. The reuben was pasty and not good at all. The water served to the table was green. We asked, and it was because the add chlorophyll, but ??? I wanted to enjoy my meal here, even if it is out of my typical zone, but I would have rather chewed cardboard on the sidewalk outside.

THIS PLACE IS COMPLETELY VEGETARIAN / VEGAN; they don't serve meat. I love that!! I ate here today for the second time. I had the tempeh reuben sandwich (it's the 4th reuben at different places I've had in the last 5 days!). It was very good. Plenty of tempeh and the sauce and other stuff on it was very good. It was a big sandwich, and came with some good tortilla chips. The service was excellent, and the meal was reasonably priced ($7.50, I think). I enjoyed it so much and rank it high on my list of tempeh reubens! This place has a lot of vegan selections, as well as vegetarian; there are also smoothies and teas. It has nice, friendly service and was a cute place; low-key and casual. The location is excellent; right in the middle of everything in downtown Asheville. I find the prices reasonable - even on the low side. I also ate here last October when I was in Asheville and I had sweet potato patties (vegan) served over brown rice. It was really delicious. I think my meal was only around $7 or $8

Dear Green Light Cafe, Remember when you were a friendly, quirky and wonderful asset to Black Mountain? I do. So today, while visiting Asheville for the day, I stopped by your "new" location, after eating lunch and hoping for a take-out treat. I was told by the 2 ladies working, but outside on a break, that there is one dessert. I ask where it is and was told, "In there." Really? Not out here baking in a hot car or something? So I go look, unassisted, eventually spot it, but decide against it. Meanwhile, as I have my back turned, grabbing a take-out menu, one of the ladies props open the door, allowing my 26-month old child to quietly escape and get 20 feet up the busy city sidewalk before I notice, though the ladies knew. Future Mothers of the Year there... The whole experience left a very bad taste in my mouth and I didn't even try the food.

Excellent creative vegetarian fare. An instant favorite!! We thoroughly enjoyed the hand-made veggie burger and the spinach/black bean enchilada with mole sauce.

Not the cleanliest of places but it will make you feel at home! Super healthy and tasty noms and smoothies at reasonable prices. Highly recommended for the average vegetarian/vegan.

Happy to be the first review! This place was really great. A nice european style cafe, while not being fancy or intimidating, just quiet and comfortable - my coffee came in a french press, there were fresh flowers on the table and there was a pepper grinder (code for, we probably have good food). Then the surprising menu with amazing options and specials and all very well priced. Our waitress, possibly an owner by her positive attitude and knowledge of the menu, was the most adorable woman with a great accent that we still remember before the location of the place itself. I had the special, a chili relleno "wet" burrito and my boyfriend had the vegan enchilada with mole and vegan cheese. The smoothies are excellent and fresh, and decor simple and pleasant. For Asheville, it's a nicer version of the many vegan cafe's, in the same price range and in a quieter fancier atmosphere. Love it!
