This was my second time to La Montaña and both times I've had a Great experience. For this experience, I called ahead and spoke to one of the hostesses to see if they could make their Diablo dish non-spicy since I wanted to bring my best friend for her birthday and knew she would love it, but she doesn't eat spicy food. When I called, the hostess was So Sweet. She took down my number, called the owner / chef to see if they could do it for us, called me back with a "Yes" AND made a note about it in our reservation. So A+++ to her and the chef for their kindness, flexibility and wonderful customer care. When we arrived, all the staff were welcoming and helpful. Then came our Curry Shrimp dishes; The Diablo (the normal spicy version) and The Angel (as our funny and very attentive waiter Colby (?) referred to the non-spicy version as). We were both in heaven. This is really the most delicious and flavorful curry sauce we've ever had. It's served with rice and this thick, delicious sourdough bread, and dipping the rice or the bread in the sauce are both different and equally delicious experiences. We both enjoyed a glass of the Cabernet, which was perfect. Lastly, we liked the feel and lighting of the restaurant and were especially touched by the story on the back of the menu about the restaurant's inception. Thank you La Montaña! We will be back!

Run don't walk to this place. So unique and delicious. Mexican Vietnamese is hard to find - not sure I've ever had it - and I'm from NYC. Thank you, team. PS - I love the Tiger chairs and decoration too!

Honestly such a beautiful and wonderful experience I'm Mexican and we stumbled upon La Montaña on accident and I'm so glad we did. I'm a lover of Asian foods (and obviously who wouldn't want both flavors!) we met the owners of the Establishment and the servers were all so kind!! I am absolutely coming back!! Check them out on Insta: they're dishes are so wonderfully plated and the ambiance is gorgeous. 10/10 recommend!!

I was so excited to try this place after seeing it on Instagram and hearing great things about it. Unfortunately my experience here was not what I expected. This restaurant still needs a lot of work from the food to the service. The first thing that caught my attention was the paper menus and you could see the staples on the outside. They need to work on getting actual menus. My waiter was super nice but barley came to check on my table and took forever to come back with a spoon that I had asked at the beginning of my appetizer.Didn't come back to ask if we needed refills, until 30 mins later I was able to tell her I wanted another drink. We got the queso Oaxaca with chorizo, the cheese didn't have the flavor I was expecting and the chunks of onion were too big in my opinion. For my entry plate, we waited over an hour to receive the food. I had the Vietnamese bowl, with the chicken but they also have a bbq pork option. I was so disgusted when I bit into RAW chicken. I politely asked for them to take the plate back and bring my check. As a restaurant, I would've thought the manager came to my table and apologized. I will definitely not be returning in the future. The restaurant is decorated nice and in a great area near UNC-CH.

This restaurant is new-ish and still has a lot of things to work out (service-wise), but the food is delicious! We came in on a Friday evening without reservations and were seated in just a few minutes. However, it seemed our waitress forgot about us, as we waited 30+ minutes for our drink orders to be taken, even after I asked the host twice if he could send someone over. We were just relaxing and chatting so didn't mind the wait, but it did begin to get late. Our favorite dishes were the eggplant and ceviche! Churros were also very yummy. Would love to try them again in a few months after they've worked out their service issues.

Wowwy wow! Not only is the interior of this establishment stunning, but so is the food! Perfect for a date night, La Montana creates a beautiful, intimate space to enjoy the Asian-Hispanic fusion food. I'm a huge fan of whoever chooses the music or is the DJ because great music & great food help create a memorable experience. Our server was very sweet and gave helpful suggestions. She told us the seasonal dishes and made it easy for us to decide on our meals. We chose to start with the ceviche (which came with substantial amounts of shrimp and octopus, thanks Chef!) and two cocktails: Guiding Light and Sunrise. We ordered the Molcajete and the Quesabirria as our entrées and holy cow!! Not only were they also substantial portions, but the flavor?! The salsa verde! The birria sauce! The juicy chicken and steak! The barbacoa! All super delicious! We ended with the tres leche cake and could not have chosen a better dessert. So moist and sweet! The perfect ending to an amazing meal. The only critique I would have is that there wasn't really much Asian-fusion going on on the menu. Almost all of the dishes were mostly Hispanic-based, with small bits of Asian flavor (e.g. adian tacos). But otherwise, it was an amazing experience and we'll be back the next time we're in the area! 9/10 - please add more Asian dishes and desserts to menu!!

My sister and I returned on Thursday night. We were lead to Table 8 in the back of the restaurant. Much more quiet than the front main dining section. Our three shared tapas were the ceviche, firecracker shrimp, and queso. We asked for the chorizo option on the queso. We inquired and were told the chorizo was Mexican style. It was a pleasant evening with lovely plating and service. We had a bottle of ordinary Spanish wine and tres leches for dessert. For the moment I am leaving the rating at 4 stars. Our server, the ceviche, and the dessert were 5 star worthy. The shrimp dish was lovely, but not enough fire in the cracker for either me or my sister. In addition the Mexican chorizo was bland by my taste. Dinner for two with dessert and wine was $102 before tip. We will return and ask for table 8 and Freya again.

First time to La Montana and was very pleased with my experience. Our server, Tré (sp?) was extremely friendly and courteous. He did a great job of introducing us to the menu and making recommendations. Our food came out very quickly and was delicious. I ordered the Molcajete and it was more than I could eat. If I had one small criticism it is that my dish only comes with two little tortillas for a massive spread of ingredients. I asked for more tortillas and was charged for them. It was not enough of an issue to detract from a wonderful meal, I just felt it to be a little footling.
