I love this place! The customer service is stellar, from the moment you walk in until you leave, the hospitality is exemplary. I loved the decor and music! The passionfruit margarita was delicious. The AL Pastor quesadilla was incredibly tasty. My family was visiting from out of town and everything was served hot and quickly! Since this was recently opened to the public, of course you have the critical negative trolls leaving reviews, but please, don't be swayed! This is a phenomenal spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner, with an eclectic menu and great service and it's exactly what Franklin street needed!

Normally I don't buy tacos in restaurants, but that day I wasn't very hungry and I said "I'm going to order tacos at a loss" ?, I didn't have many expectations about it, but I must admit that seeing the presentation made me hungry. The tacos What I ordered was from Azada and the meat came in large, juicy steak-style pieces in the middle of 2 semi-toasted tortillas on the griddle. When they served it to me, I didn't wait for anyone and took a big bite immediately... It was there that I met love ?, that bite was heavenly.

Second visit and have loved it both times. Innovative drinks and high quality Mexican inspired food. I had the carne asada plate, which was more sophisticated than what you would traditionally see.

Went there last night with a friend for the first time… I’ll never go back to this restaurant again. There was a family with a “service dog” that was standing on tables and booths licking the table. I know for a fact that real service dogs do not behave like that in public. We even mentioned it to our waitress who was very cool but they ended up moving the family FURTHER into the restaurant. I don’t know anything about managing and running a restaurant but that is EXTREMELY UNSANITARY. One of the staff cleaned off the table we saw the dog licking but the dog just licked it again. I don’t usually write reviews but this is unacceptable. Food was decent but not for the price. Why was my one drink almost as much as the entree? Loved the vibe of the place but why did I need to make a reservation for a place that wasn’t nowhere near busy for a Friday night. Giving 2 stars because of how they “handled” the “service dog” while we were there. This place is catered to a certain demographic and it’s location makes no sense.

Great food and atmosphere! Tried the margarita, ceviche, empanadas and chicken wings (I recommend the mango habanero) - everything was delicious and the service was great. The interior is just beautiful also. Food is pricey but very good.

We had a great experience despite what the reviews say. Food was tasty and not too pricey, the margarita was wonderful and the staff was very attentive and friendly.

Ay POR Dios is a beautiful restaurant with good service; however, the prices are high $$$$ and the food is not as good as many other less expensive Mexican restaurants in the area. For example, most Mexican restaurants serve chips and salsa when diners are seated. We had to request chips and salsa; the chips were cold, thick, hard as a brick and not edible. Our lunch entrees were at best unremarkable and expensive; lunch for two people around $50.

Update, March 2024: Ay Por Dios is an enigma, a hot topic of discussion in our community. Up is down, and restaurant economics appear to not apply. For example, it's a Saturday night after a big UNC basketball game against NC State. Good luck getting a reservation at any of the fine restaurants surrounding Ay Por Dios. But need a reservation for 18 at this place? No problem, it's available. Every night, the place is practically empty. You can convince your friends to write reviews, but if a restaurant is empty, it's losing money, fast. I wish them the best of luck, but we wonder how long it can continue.--------------Ay Por Dios may going through a rough startup period. I love Mexican food, and I've been to Oaxaca many times. They have a beautiful restaurant and a great theme. But is this food worth the much higher prices? Definitely not. The enchilada mole sauce was decent, but not particularly spicy nor deep flavored. The chicken in the enchiladas was definitely higher quality. But the lunch burrito (nothing to do with Oaxaca, of course) was smothered with cheese sauce, which I guess some people like, but I would rather go to Chipotle or the taco trucks right around the corner. I live and work nearby, but I'm giving up on Ay Por Dios for now. Maybe the management will reconsider the prices and take more risks with the spices and flavors. We can handle it!

I visited Ay Por Dios for the first time yesterday and I was instantly blown away as soon as I entered the building. The warm hospitality and lively atmosphere made dining there a truly memorable experience. Even tho I only had the grilled chicken fajitas with rice and beans, I can honestly say the dish was mouthwatering. I will be visiting again tomorrow to try more of the menu and the "smoky" cocktails that I've heard so much about. The aesthetic, service and food were all a 10/10. I definitely recommend stopping in! Will update if any changes.
