I’m posting a one star review for a good restaurant because the fees are out of control. Oya is clearly owned by some sort of investment group who are probably buying yachts off the exorbitant and endless extra fees and taxes they attach to their menu. It’s obscene.Ta Contento is excellent. Guess what your total charge reflects: the cost of the food, the appropriate tax, and whatever tip you choose. Rasa Malasia, same. Guanajuato, same. There are dozens of restaurants in our area who manage to do business without these endless fees that Oya can’t stop adding. They actually charge you just for the privilege of ordering from the restaurant.Sad to say, I’m finished with Oya.

Great food and atmosphere, this is my go-to place for taking guests-who always love it! Healthy, delicious Latin American dishes- tamales, bowls, tacos, empanadas, ceviches-something for everyone.

This place is kind of a hidden gem, even though it’s right in a central location. High-quality, thoughtful menu, great staff.

I've dined here a few times and the food is always great! You order at the counter then they bring you your food. Not fancy but definitely a great lunch spot.

I always get the fish tacos which are incredible delicious. The only thing I don't like is how the staff asks you as soon as you walk in the door "is it to go?" I find it very annoying to be the first thing you hear when entering a restaurant because -no, I'm eating in- and I don't like saying "no" as soon as I enter an establishment. Also, it feels like they don't want you there when they ask such a thing. I hope the management reads this review because it's really off-putting and almost upsets me. Staff should say "Hello, welcome to O'Ya" or something because the client will obviously tell you if it is to go because they ordered it and are there to pick it up.

Reasonable prices, the most authentic Mexican food I've had outside of Mexico.

Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. A really cool interior. The carnitas taco was very good with the grilled onions, the tomatillo sauce though was thin and watery. The best part of the meal was the tasty black beans and rice.

O'ya has a good mix of entrees and sides on the menu, and it is definitely not just another riff on latin american food. If you are looking for typical Mexican, this is not that. This is a counter-service restaurant, but they do have a good amount of indoor seating (bright and clean, and a step up from the typical strip center space) and there is a patio with plenty of outdoor seating that they appear to share with Town Hall Burger. The guacamole bowls were very generous, as were all of the sides - plenty of rice and beans, and really good plantains. The tostadas were really good, and the tamales were also good. The ropa vieja was a bit disappointing (too fatty for me). In general, everything was a bit light on spice, so if you like it spicy, order accordingly.

We really love O’Ya and think the food is delicious. Unfortunately we frequently get stale chips (like tonight). Not a deal breaker since they came with the food. We also didn’t get any salsa with the chips. At $40 for two people, I would love to see chips and salsa come with the meal. Should be standard IMO, but has always been inconsistent for us. I love everything I’ve tried here and overall have positive experiences. Just a couple suggestions above to improve the experience. It’s a bit pricey but I feel the food is always fresh and tasty.

OMG Just ate the best chicken quesadilla I’ve ever had! It was packed with moist flavorful tinga chicken. Seriously can’t wait to go back. Apologies for the pic, we had wolfed down most of the quesadilla!

We have never had an issue here; however, we have only done takeout. Please don't listen to Lynn A. She's on a rampage with other restaurants/ businesses in the area, describing everything as too expensive. She clearly doesn't know how to order or realize prices increase over time. Also, fees are established through the 3rd party vendors they use. If you order through O'ya's website, they do not have these fees, she claims. Out of 28 reviews, she has given 21 ONE STAR reviews. She's a troll, so form your own opinion.

Best Latin / Mexican restaurant in the Chapel Hill / Pittsboro area. Consistently good, prompt, and reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

We had super yummy tacos! There is beer and Mexican sodas. Also southern tea.
