We made our first visit to Walt's Grill yesterday and we really enjoyed our visit!I had the smothered pork chops, fried okra, and macaroni & cheese. Everything was full of flavor and very enjoyable.Mr. Walt found it hard to believe we had traveled all the way from our town to Chapel Hill just to visit his restaurant but we were talking the truth! We don't get to the Chapel Hill/Carrsboro area very often, but we like to find great eating spots along the way for those times we do find ourselves near those areas. We will definitely be back and look forward to talking with Mr. Walt, again!

The food was amazing. Fried pork chops and Fried chicken was cooked while I waited. The collards, black eye peas and mash potatoes with brown gray were excellent. Talk about walking into grandma's house for dinner walts was the same experience. Talked with the cook, the server, and the owner. Beautiful people, great conversations. We will be back. Price was more than reasonable. Thank ya'll for the food and company.

This is a casual, homey restaurant with good food and great service. Our party ordered pork chops, fried chicken, country style steak, and grilled tilapia, and we were each very happy with the food. The portions were generous and the sides were delicious. Highly recommend!

I did take out and it was awesome. Baked chicken, cabbage, greens, fried okra, mac and cheese. The chicken was great..very juicy and generous sized pieces, the greens and cabbage where perfect. The okra was the best I've had since my mama's house. The mac and cheese could use some work..I like it in more of a custard. It beats Mama Dips for sure!! Walt's is going to be my go to from now on!!

We were in town for a track meet. Stopped at Walts place for a quick bite before heading home. The food was FANTASTIC! Service FANTASTIC. Small black owned business. We will definitely come back.I had the fried chicken, mac and cheese and yams. The hubby had turkey wing broccoli and fries. We even got 2 additional plates to go. Do yourself a favor and check this place out!

This place is a hidden gem in Chapel Hill! The fried chicken wings were HUGE and fresh out of the fryer, and the sides were both delicious and filling as well. The nice woman working there offered my friends and I complimentary sweet tea or lemonade, which was a nice touch! The environment is homey and the food is great, highly recommend!

My wife and I both said that the fried chicken was some of the best we’ve ever had. The BBQ Chicken was great too.Yeah Chipotle, Chick Fil A etc. are cool, but this place just felt like a hometown restaurant that has been around for a while and bleeds Carolina Blue. We were happy to visit and we’ll definitely be back.

Can’t believe this is my first time eating here. Some of the best fried chicken I’ve ever had! It was seasoned perfectly and served piping hot. It was so hot you could see the steam rising after your first bite. It was so hot, the chicken melted the plate! ?Meal came with mashed potatoes & gravy, green beans, a roll and the best sweet iced tea with crushed ice. All for less than $10!Husband had the pork Barbeque plate with fries, Mac & cheese and hush puppies and tea. That was some great barbecue! He said the Mac & cheese was stone cold, well he should have told the owner. The owner/cook was very friendly. Several locals were eating/hanging out or coming by for their to go orders. Very friendly place. One draw back: strong smell of fried oil. But since the chicken was so good, will over look that. Maybe needs better exhaust fan.We will be back. Hope to try their pork chops and breakfast!Parking: Beautiful mural on the side building where parking is. ?
