Bonzai is my FAV Thai food in Charlotte and I'm not normally one to post bad reviews but this deserves the review... I went there at 11am on a week day and the restaurant was completely empty except one table of 4 people. They sat me in a booth, I have a back injury and it was just not comfortable for me. So I nicely asked if I could move to a regular chair, and pointed to the table next to me. She said yes but then directly me all the way across the restaurant to a seat facing the wall and in a corner. I couldn't even sit facing out towards the restaurant because the wall seat was a booth too. I was in a rush so I didn't complain. But at the end while paying I nicely told the server that I felt like she stuck me in the corner in time out facing a wall and maybe next time, if a single person comes in she should consider letting them sit somewhere else... she told me 'well you need to understand us, that we need to save those tables for 4 people. We always seat someone like you here...' I told her 'I understand but you literally have no one in here right now so I shouldn't have to sit and face a wall.' She said again 'you really need to try and understand our point of view...'What! I'm sorry but that is SO rude. If they were slammed I would have totally not minded sitting where I was but the entire place was empty and she decided to put me in the worst seat in the entire place facing a corner and dirty wall. The owners need to train their employers better and be kinder to paying customers. I don't want to pay $22+ for lunch and be shoved in a corner facing a wall like a kid in timeout and then be told she is saving ALL the seats in restaurant for invisible customers who are not there.

The food came to the table really slow. We ask the waitress when will we get our food, and she said it will be about 20~30mins. We wait for about 50min and the food is still not here.

Food was good but it was our Valentine dinner and they are "in between" active permits so that was a bummer. I love a crisp sauv Blanc with spicy Thai food. Service was good but food was slow.

Ooof. I don't even know how to start. Well, there were only two tables when we walked in at 6:45 pm. However, the two girls working were frantically running around the restaurant. We sat and were greeted. No alcohol available period so we ordered water. Three more tables came in and the phone was ringing off the hook. One of the young ladies took our appetizer order and then offered to take our entrée orders as well. 45 minutes later (no exaggeration) we still had only water in front of us. We left. So disappointed after seeing all the good reviews. I love Thai food but we'll be going to Bahn Thai, our go to, from now on.

I've been here a few times and the food was great. Last night it was a fail. It felt like the backup team was in the kitchen. The rice wasn't jasmine, the sticky rice was in a ziplock bag from home. Nothing had spice on it even though we requested it and the spring rolls tasted burnt. This place cost way too much for this kind of service. Probably will not be back.

Finally an authentic Thai place in Charlotte. Not taking away from the other spots but this place food wise, beats them all. I came on a Saturday and place was not busy, but unfortunately, had only one chef, so it was a bit of a wait but again, food made up for it.The drunken noodles were cooked to perfection! You got the hint of the wine and brandy, with the sweetness of the sauce, and that bite of salt that real thai food has. Perfect spice and you can ask to go up or downBest pineapple rice I've had in a long time. Every ingredient is layered and incorporated beautifully.Crab Rangoon was yummy, nuff saidAmbiance no frills, like any cafeteria in Bangkok, minus the street dogs and noise ? this strip mall Thai has sold me and will be back.

Why do they refuse to keep the space comfortable for guests? Don't go here until they are willing to turn the heat on. Do they feel 62 degrees is an acceptable temperature to dine in?

Don't underestimate this place just because it's in a strip mall! We ate here when on a business trip, due to its location across from the industrial park. I had the drunken noodles and they were fantastic! Though the atmosphere leaves something to be desired, the food makes up for it! You can ask for your food to be at a spice level of 1-10 and at a 4, mine was pleasantly warm! Authentic food and a pretty inclusive menu with all the thai staples (pad thai, curries) and even some pho in the menu! Would definitely go back here if I were in town again!
